I want to buy a second download of lion for my macbook

I tried to download from the App Store Lion for my Macbook. I have already downloaded it to my iMac. The App Store say's I have already purchased it & can just download it, but as I understand it I have to "buy" it again in order that I can run my macbook & iMac at the same time.
Is this right & how do I do that as the App Store automatically says I've already purchased it & can just download it.

but as I understand it I have to "buy" it again in order that I can run my macbook & iMac at the same time.

No. You can re download and install Lion on all your Macs that meet Lion's requirements for free.

  • I just downloaded Mountain Lion for my MacBook Pro from the App Store.  Can I also download it for my iMac without paying the $19.99 fee again?

I just downloaded Mountain Lion for my MacBook Pro from the App Store.  I was curious if it is possible to downloand Mountain Lion to my iMac without paying the $19.99 fee again?  Not trying to be a cheapskate, just curious if App Store purchases are universal like iTunes Apps.

You can re download Mountain Lion for free on all your authorized Macs using the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
    Select  Mountain Lion.
Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.

    Yes.

  • I wanted to buy a Dragon ,Speech Recognition Programme for Mac but it says its for Lion, and I have Snow Leopard. Would it have worked on Snow leopard?

I wanted to buy a Dragon ,Speech Recognition Programme for Mac but it says its for OS Lion, and I have OS Snow Leopard. Would it have worked on Snow Leopard?

The simplest method would be to ask them for their Snow Leopard version and say you can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8. I'm almost sure they will sell you a copy.
Generally if your machine can only upgrade to 10.7 Lion and not directly to 10.8 Mountain Lion, then it's best left on 10.6.8. in my opinion as your going to loose too much other software and slow down your machine in the process.
This rapid OS X upgrade cycle has caused plenty of problems for users and developers alike, so I suspect you will find a sympathizer with the developer.
In fact I'm not recommending Mac's to anyone anymore because Apple simply has lost touch with reality.

Download it again, don't install again and the file (Lion Installer.app) will be in your applications folder.
It is deleted after installation, that's why it can't be found.

  • Is it safe to download adobe reader for my macbook? i don't want any viruses to pop up

can i download adobe reader for my macbook pro? is it safe or will i be at risk for viruses?

You may be confusing Adobe Flash - which is known for security issues - with Adobe Reader perhaps.
I think you are safe to download Adobe Reader. Always update the software when updates are available since many updates do include security fixes as well as bug fixes and any new features that have been added.
I have always had some version of Adobe Reader on all of my Macs and have never had any virus, Trojan or Malware on any of them.

  • I just downloaded Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro.  Firefox and Safari are showing up in HTML (I think) and many web pages are garbled and unreadable.

I just downloaded Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro 10.8.2  Now Safari and Firefox are not functioning right - sites are garbled, show up as bulleted blue phrases, don't react.  I am trying to search train tickets in Paris and can't  do it.  My e-mail (Shaw) defaults to HTML and I cannot access the Bay site through e-mail. Help.

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • I have three iMacs - do i have to buy a copy of mountain lion for each?

I have three iMacs - do i have to buy a copy of mountain lion for each?

What Russa is saying is that if you don't save "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" before you install you'll need to download it again each time. It's important to save it before you install because it self-destructs after restart.

  • If i already purchased os x lion for one macbook how do I download to other computers

I've already purchased the os x lion for my macbook pro and I wanted to download it to my macbook as well. How do I do this?

Log in to the App Store using the same ID used in your Lion purchase on your MacBook.
Go to the "Purchases" tab and click on the Lion download.

  • HT4718 I want to install a new internal hard drive for my Macbook (13in, Late 2009) and restore to factory settings. However, I want to keep my Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

I want to install a new internal hard drive for my Macbook (13in, Late 2009) and restore to factory settings.  However, I want to keep my Mac OS X Snow Leopard., which I downloaded from the app store. How can I restore computer with the updated OS?

What I did on our two computers was partition the hard drive so that both Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion can be used on the computers. This allowed me to be able to retain/use older applications and games on the Snow Leopard partition. This will allow you to do a clean install of Mountain Lion on the newly created partition. The Mountain Lion installer has a button that allows you to select another drive so you don't install it over Snow Leopard. I cleverly name one partition Snow Leopard and the other one Mountain Lion so I wouldn't confuse the two (I never claimed to be smart).
To partition, you need to have sufficient free hard drive space (I suggest 50 GB minimum). Boot off the Snow Leopard DVD or the disks that came with the computer and use Disk Utility to partition your hard drive into two partitions. If you plan to make Mountain Lion your primary OS, then you can reduce the size of the Snow Leopard partition so most of the free hard drive space is available for Mountain Lion. While booted off the disk, you can install Snow Leopard on the partition you want it on.
Restart and download Mountain Lion, remembering to select the correct partition before installing. I would make a copy of the installer and move it out of the Applications folder because the installer self destructs.
After getting all that sorted out, I found that while booted in Mountain Lion I could access the Snow Leopard partition. That allowed me to drag files and applications from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Applications that won't work with Mountain Lion will be grayed out with a slash through them.

Nope. Just login to your Mac App store account on your MacBook, under purchased, re-download it. Then, before you install, do this:
