I want to buy final cut pro and install on 2 of my macs

I have a airbook (2014) and a macbook pro (2013) I want to buy Final Cut Pro. It might be a stupid question but I am new here, do I need to buy 2 seperate licences ?

If you buy it from the Mac App Store, it will show up in the "Purchases" tab on the Mac App Store. You can download it for free from all of your other Macs by going to the "Purchases" tab on the Mac App Store after you have bought it.
I hope I answered your question.

okay I want to update from version 10.1.1 to the latest version 10.1.3. In app store its even there in purchases. But when I go to final cut pro app and click 'Install' it says "Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store.   Do you want to buy Final Cut Pro 10.1.3?". what does this mean? if the update is free why are they saying I have to buy it. :/

IIf you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID used to purchase the software, you would need to contact the App Store.

i need to buy final cut pro software  and i need it to support arabic writing the problem iam in germany  the  i tune here does not give you chance to choose the
    language

If you want the menus and dialogues of the app to be in Arabic, that's not possible, there is no Arabic version of this software.
If you just want to write Arabic language titles, etc., the language of the app is irrelevant, the input of different languages is handled by the OS, and Arabic input is always available.
All Apple software is multilingual, no matter where you buy it. For example, the user interface for Final Cut Pro can be switched among English, Chinese, French, German, and Japanese.

I have an 20 inch Imac 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and I want to introduce Final Cut Pro X into the machine. Can I change the present Videocard ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB, into a more suitable videocard? Or is that not possible? I have upgraded the memory to 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

The GPU in a iMac is NOT upgradeable.
You should check to see if your model of iMac meets the minimum specs to run FCPX.
I believe that your GPU is NOT OpenCL capable, and hence not supported.
Even if it works, you would probably get marginal performance.
What you can do is download the trial version and see how (and if) it works.

  • Student Help advice! what is best iMac model for Final Cut Pro and logic pro

    Hi
I am currently looking into getting a iMac, but is toggling to device if I need a 27inch or a 21inch(top model),which will be used for Final Cut Pro and logic
There is a lot of money being invested iMac, and I really not want to be stu k with a computer that not going to keep up with the amount of work load in the future.
The specs that I have on mine are..
    21inch
    Upgrades include
    Sdd drive 512gb
    Intel core i7
    16gb of ram
    Or
    27 inch
    Upgrades
    Fusion drive or sdd 250gb
    Intel core i7
    (Possible graphic card) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5 [+ £105.60]
(Ram is way to expensive so will buy from second party)
Anyone who has brought a iMac for final cut or logic what would you likely buy?..Am really stuck on the hard drives between the 27inch fusion and 512gb on the 21inch
    My budget is £1900
My fear is that the 21inch top model's graphic card may not be good enough for advance editing on Final Cut Pro In the future when I start to get more deep into editing..logic really only needs 8gb to run smoothly..buts its the final cut specs that am having problems deciding. I know iMacs are not future proof or technology lasts for that matter, but I do expect to have it run good for a number of years before I upgrade again.
If anyone can give me some advice, or even tell me about there set up they have for media work please let me know.

All kinds of things affect system & HD performance, I can't tell you why your 4 year old Mac is slow.  Just because your old Mac is slow doesn't mean that a new iMac will be equally slow.
You are correct about the issue with the smaller fusion drives.  It's one of the reasons I am not high on recommending them.  Everyone thinks they want power & performance but don't understand the gap between marketing and real life performance.  The 1TB fusion drive however should give you a good combination of rapid access and sizeable storage capacity.
I have used external FW800 / 7200rpm drives for years and have never had a problem with any of them.  I consider them very reliable but admittedly I DO NOT use consumer drives like the WD MyBook that the big-box stores sell.   For the most part I assemble my own with OWC Mercury Elite enclosures.  In the past few years I have centered on WD Caviar Black and WD Scorpio Black drives.  I also have some Seagate Barracuda 7200.xx drives.  They all perform excellently and reliably.
Pls. refer to my earlier post for what i recommended to you.

  • Where can I buy final cut pro 7

Does anyone know where to buy final cut pro 7 and if it is compatible with mountain lion. If I installed mountain lion and used to have snow leaport. I used to have final cut pro 5 and live text...is it anyway I can go back to snowleapard after installed mountain lion so can use final cut pro again? since do not like the new final cut pro x. Many thanks!

According to Apple, Final Cut Pro 7 require 10.5.6 or later so it should be compatible with 10.6, 10.7 0r 10.8.

An Internet search will produce many sources where you may obtain Final Cut Pro 7.
Should you have more queries regarding this topic, I suggest you post them on the Final Cut forum in the Professional Applications section.
    Ciao.

  • Can I buy final cut pro using windows OS?

can I buy final cut pro using windows OS, then install it in a mac in other state?

Technically yes, as long as you use the same Apple ID on both machine's to purchase it and to download it. The Mac in the other state will have to meant the system requirements for FCP.

  • Itunes Store Won't Let Me Buy Final Cut Pro X

I am trying to buy Final Cut Pro X but every time I click on the Buy App button I get a pop-up saying that I need to contact Itunes Support, which is another story.
I wan't to begin to play with the software today prior to training but it looks as though that won't be the case.  Does anyone have any thoughts on what the issue might be and how do I correct it?
    George

There is no way to telephone the Itunes Store.  You have to go by e-mail support.  It may be an account problem but they should tell me that.  I am waiting on a e-mail from them.

  • How to buy Final cut pro?

Hi, I can't seem to buy final cut pro X. When I try, the apple store tells me I need at least 4 GB to download it. Thing is, I have 96 GB available. I don't understand what I am supposed to do. Do you have any advice?

The minimum requirements for FPX can be found here:
    http://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/specs/
The short of it is - you need to be running osx 10.9, have 4 GB of RAM and have an Open CL video card.
If your system does not meet those minimums, you are wasting your money to purchase the app.

how do i engage my 8 core mac pro to use all it's cores when using final cut pro and other applications that need processing power? at the moment they seem to be idle...

First, did you use Setup or Migration Assistant? That can happen when coming from a PowerMac or sometimes even from another (Intel) Mac.
Second, wait for the next version of Final Cut due very soon to ship (may have to wait for the ".1" of course to clean up any early issues.

There are a few apps that are better.  I think you can run multiple instances of Handbrake for one.
I've read about and wanted to try PowerDirector 9 (Windows)

  • Does CC 2014 eliminate the need to have Final Cut Pro and/or Compressor installed to access Apple ProRes 422?

    Hello:
Just today, I was working on a Mac system that does not have any of the applications that I would have expected to need to have installed in order to do more than just decompress movie files compressed with Apple ProRes 422.
I was expecting to have to install Final Cut Studio 3, Final Cut Pro X, Compressor 4, and/or QuickTime 7 with the QuickTime Pro key; however, none of those applications are installed and I am able to create custom QuickTime Apple Pro Res422 Sequences in Premiere Pro as well as export using Apple ProRes 422.  After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder also show all the Apple ProRes variations.
Does CC 2014 eliminate the need to have Final Cut Pro and/or Compressor installed to access Apple ProRes 422?  Is it something happening on the OS or QuickTime level that would affect CC or CS6 in the same way?
I've done a web search, but haven't really come up with anything other than older articles about needing to have FCP installed (and I typically work on systems with Final Cut Studio 3 installed as well as CS6, CC, or CC 2014).  If more detailed information is available, it would be great to be able to read up on it.
The system is a 21.5-inch iMac running Mac OS X 10.8.5, QuickTime Player 10.2, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.0.0 - I know an update is available for PrPro, but it's not my system to make that change).
    Thanks in advance,
    Warren Heaton

    Hi Emil:
I use ProRes all the time as well, but I have Final Cut Studio on my workstations.
I had not come across MindPower009's YouTube video.  That explains how ProRes could be showing up without FCP or Compressor.
So, the answer to my question would be, "No, CC 2014 does not eliminate the need to have Final Cut Pro and/or Compressor installed to access Apple ProRes 422; however, if you are willing to be in violation Apple's terms of use, you can install the ProRes codecs anyway."
Even though MindPower009's YouTube video comments claim "FREE and LEGAL", it's clear from both the Apple download page and the ProRes codecs installer that Apple expects you to own at least one of their applications.
    Thanks again for the link!

  • Final cut pro and compressor

I have a FCP project that I have been working on for a year and have made DVD's from through compressor. Suddenly when I open compressor it states that there are no files associated with this project.
Another user suggested I trash the preferences, but am loath to do this incase it makes things worse as I'm not very clued up on some of the systems functions.
    Please help
    CB

If you've been on the project for more than a year, it must be legacy Final Cut Pro and not FCP X.
This is the FCP X forum - you should ask this question in the Final Cut Studio forum:
