  • Do you have to unlock your iPad Air (Cellular) to use it internationally?

I want to take my iPad Air (Cellular) overseas (Japan) and buy cellular so I can use it there. How does this work? Do I need to have it "unlocked" before I can do this or can I just buy SIM cards there when I get to Japan?
Thanks in advance and pardon the tech ignorance!

    Hi LBSnell,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
All you have to do is pop in a local carrier's SIM and you're ready to go. The article linked below will give you details about the process and tips that will resolve most issues you may run into.

  • I to buy iPad Air , can i use Microsoft Office on it ?

Hi, i am considering to buy the new iPad Air , although it all for my work purpose , i wanted to know can i use the Microsoft Office the same way i use on my Macbook ?  please help me with the suggestions .

Microsoft haven't yet released an app version of their office programs, but there are apps that support word, excel, and powerpoint documents on an iPad.
The options include Apple's Pages app for Word documents, Numbers for Excel spreadsheets and Keynote for Powerpoint. And from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.

Apple really needs to figure out if they are producing hardware, software and operating systems or providing cell and data service.
I am a die hard apple user and am seriously considering other options as everything apple seems to be doing lately is restricting it's users.
    I'm tired of "NO".
The lack of a sim slot in the iPad 2 may be the final straw.
What do you do when traveling abroad? Pay ATT $1 a minute for roaming data?
They need to offer their iOS to other manufacturers and make their hardware open to access cell/data from any carrier.
I fear if they don't take those steps soon, they will lose me and millions of other users to android.

  • Buying ipad from usa to use in australia

buying ipad from usa and using in australia.can you do it and what do you need for it to work.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Yes you can do it, and if you search, upper right corner this has been discussed recently.
The iPad is compatible in both countries...charger handles 100-240 volts at 50-60 Hertz...just need the proper plug piece or converter. That should be easy enough, the plug piece slides off horizontally and the proper one for the country slides on...same piece for all iDevice chargers.
Service plans you need to check into.

  • I want to buy an ipad mini Wifi Cellular and use it in Central Asia,so there are two models: A1454 and A1455,what is the difference?

Either will work fine in Central Asia as loge ad the carries support GSM (almost all do).
One of the iPads will only work with the AT&T GSM) network if you are in the USA and the Other with the Virizon network (uses CDMA, not GSM/SIM) if you are in the USA

Welcome to the US!  I think you can just take your ID card to the Apple store or shop online : http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/education_pricing
the site has all the info for eligibility and available items for purchase -- I think you can type in your school to see if on list of approved schools. I think the ID checking is rather benign. discounts are modest from what I recall.

  • HT4572 If I buy iPad Air with a carrier and cancel it can I use other abroad?

I'm from Bulgaria and my question is can I buy an iPad Air cellular with one of the proposed carriers can I disable it and use other in my country? If i buy it from Amazon do I have to look for unlocked one?

Apple Australia are selling the iPhone 3G for A$719, the iPhone 3Gs 16 GB for A$879, the iPhone 3Gs 32 GB for A$1040. No contract. After allowing for tax differences, at the moment these are around $100 more expensive than USA prices (Apple tend to set and keep prices relative to the date the item was released, regardless of further changes in exchange rates). This is about A$500 more than an equivalent iPod Touch, so you are paying a premium.
I am also contemplating buying a replacement iPhone without a phone contract, as most of the time I do not need to use the amount of call time required by a contract. I can already change my data package on a month to month basis. My use pattern is generally a couple of months with no real need for a phone, followed by slightly less than a month of intensive data use, usually in remote areas. Also my partner really, really wants to grab my existing iPhone to replace the iPod Touch she grabbed earlier. The extra iPhone facilities really do give it a decent edge over the iPod. In particular, the always present camera proved way more handy than I ever expected. So I am being encouraged to upgrade.
Still unknown is whether I can change SIM cards on an ad hoc basis. All major Australian phone companies sell iPhones (except most have stock shortages). Some carriers are only workable in major cities (but have cheap pre paid cards). Others are really expensive, but work well in country areas. Being able to run multiple appropriate SIM cards on different carriers would be really helpful.

  • IPad with cellular and wifi and a cheap end laptop or just a MacBook Pro/Air?

    Hi guys
I'm a first year studying dentistry and my current laptop(Dell XPS M1530) have crashed so I'm looking at purchasing a new laptop.
It has lasted 5 years and looking for something to take me another 5 years. I hear the iPad is selling faster than the macs.
    I have two options:
Option 1: an iPad with cellular and a cheap laptop to run the iPad as it is very dependent on iTunes
Option 2: a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air
I currently have an iPhone 5
I mainly browse the Internet, type documents, download music and watch movies
Which option should I go for and why should I go for that option?
    Thanks :)

I do not think a tablet should take the place of a laptop.  They are convenient and fun, but as you prepare documents, I think a Macbook Pro would be a better choice.  Typing on a tablet is not as capable on a tablet.  The Macbook Pro could be expected to last longer than a cheap laptop and you could always add a tablet later if you want one.

  • Is Ipad air cellular in us unlocked and able to use cellular abroad ?

can i use the ipad air cellular with other country's lte ? Because I'm not planning to use the iPad Air with cellular in the US.  If yes , which network carrier should i choose to buy ? thanks

They aren't locked but the warranty for one with cellular capability will only be good in the US and there is no guarantee it will work with LTE in other countries.

  • If I buy an Ipad Air cellular in USA, can I use it in europe Denmark?

if I buy an Ipad Air cellular in USA, can I use it in europe Denmark?

Yes, GSM is the system used by AT&T and most of the world.  CDMA is the system used by Verizon, and some of the other smaller US-based carriers.  Buying the AT&T model will make life much easoier for you.
If you are using an iOS device, the ampersand, &, almost always ends up coming through as &amp...regular users know that and just ignore the little quirk.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted.

    Sorry... You cannot.
Note: FaceTime may not be available, or may become unavailable, on devices purchased or used in certain countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates
Check your device's region of purchase for more information.
