Cloned Dac, Informatica and OBIEE want to change the ip and hostname
Hi Gurus,
I recently cloned my OBIEE env on virtual machines on OEL ( Linux)
I want to change the hostname and ip address to make the services up with new IP and hostname.
I started the Database(11gR2) single instnace successfully. Please let me know what all changes need to be done to start the dac(10.1.3.4), informatica(9.0.1 Hotfix 2) server and also OBIEE(11.1.1.7.1)
I did run ./startServerprompt.sh for DAC but still the service cannot be started.
Thanks in advance.
RegardsHi kt1,
Informatica and DAC is also on Linux servers. As a first step I'm trying to start the services on DAC and Informatica servers but still no luck.
When I'm Trying to start it gives me the following error in the log
For Informatica:
Domain service init method is called
java.net.UnlnownHostException: santa.pti.local (which is the wrong hostname)
it should be picking up the new hostname panta.pti.local
but I don't know where exactly is this information stored and how to get over it.
The same case is with DAC server when I try to start it it's picking up the wrong hostname
Anybody who can help me get through this. I have go ogled it but so far I couldn't solve it.
Appreciate if anyone could help me solve this.

Want to change the hostname of cisco WCS on Windows
Hi
We have cisco WCS and by default hostname is nonwmonitor .
Now we need to generate the certificate that will match with Hostname and so want to change the hostname.
Please help me for providing the process to change the histname for windows 2003One thing to remember is the WCS license is tied to the sever name. So if you change the name if the server, you will have to rehost the WCS license.

Changing hostname on Callmanager 6.1 and generate new SSL
I'm looking to change the hostname of our Callmanager because of a change in the naming convention for all our servers.
Is it as easy as it seems or are there any precautions I need to be aware of?
My thoughts were to just Change hostname under Cisco Unified CM Configuration for both PUB and SUB
Since I use mostly IP address for most of my configuration, are there anything else I need to be concerned about?
Also, how do I generate a new SSL cert based on this change so admins and users won't get a certificate mismatch prompt?
Thanks!Hi Ken,

Hi All,
I have made an image of an SAP 2004S on MAXDB server and I have deployed this on an other physical server. Sap is running fine now (on a temp license) but I want to change the hostname of this server.
I have followed the instructions in note 757692 (Changing the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40/ 7.0 installation) but SAP does not start anymore. When starting up in SAP MMC the disp + work.EXE first turn in to yellow, but after some time the status changes to stopped. The errorlog shows "connect to database failed. rc is -10709 Connection failed. RTE: unknown hostname. I have also seen that the workprocesses do start but the stop after some seconds.
The trace file of a workprocess is here:

Problem after changing hostname
I wanted to change my hostname so i followed the following instruction, as given by one of the members in this forum
Edit /etc/hostconfig.
Add the following line:
HOSTNAME=$HOSTNAME
where $HOSTNAME is the hostname you want to set.
That change will take effect after a reboot.
If you want the hostname to show up at the prompt,
add a line similar to the following one to your
.bash_profile:
PS1='\h:\w \u\$ '
where \h is the hostname, \w is the working directory
of the current user and \u is the name of the current
user.
MacBook 2.0 GHz/2.0 GByte ; MacPro
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FOR THE NEW PROBLEM
I did what was suggested, and things have gone wrong. I made the changes and booted the computer.This is what i am getting now:
localhost:/root# CSRHIDTransitionDriver::stop
IOBluetoothHCIController::start Idle Timer Stopped.
Now i dont know what to do, i booted the system from the cd, went to terminal and thought of changing the hostconfig file, again (back to original), however, there is no vi or any editor available.
When ever i boot the system i presented with a root prompt. I went to /etc and tried to remove HOSTNAME=$XXX, but the system is not allowing me to make any changes.
What can i do now? Please guide. I will appreciate a quick response as i whole of my research work is in my laptopHello, Thanks for giving me directions.
1) Ok if its not clear to you, then i will explain again.
I wanted to change the hostname of my computer since whenever i open a terminal i use to get as command prompt like myfullname@somealphanumericcharacters. So i wanted to change the alphanumericcharacters. I was suggested to go to /etc and add HOSTNAME=$something. I did that (using sudo), rebooted the system and i am getting the following message:
localhost:/root#CSHIDTransitionDrivers::stop
IOBluetoothHCIContrller::start Idle Timer Stopped.
and when i hit enter i am given a root prompt:
localhost:/root#. I thought since i am root i can change the /etc file. So i tired using vi but i am given following msg:E483: Can't get temp file name(twice) Hit Enter to continue.
when i hit return, vi open the file and when i try to remove the entery i am given the following msg: Warning changing a read only file,E303: Unable to open swap file for hostconfig, recovery impossible.
I tried to change the permissions, using chmod, but i cant, same msg: file is read only.
I can see all my datafiles, but can't access them. DOnt understand if i am root why cant i make changes.
Furhter, while doing reboot, pressed Command+V, lots of things which dont make sense to me, however, i did find the following:
CSRHIDTransitionDriver::probr:-v
CSRHIDTransitionDriver::start before command
/etc/rc:line 14: XXXX unbound variable (XXX is the hostname i wanted to add, this is what i added to hostconfig file)
Paril8 18:28:04 launchd: /bin/sh on /etc/rc terminated abnormally, going to single user mode.
I went checked/etc/rc, was not able to find the variable XXX.
I tried what you suggested, cd /Volumes/Macintosh HD. But i am not able to change anything. if i try vi, it is not recognized. SO this is all i got. Please help

How to change Hostname from Physical to Logical in R1213
Hi,
We installed and upgraded applications to R1213,
installed R1211 using normal installation method,
now we want to change Physical name to Logical Name for Database+CM(both reside in same server).
Please suggest how we can achive this.
Regards,
ChakriHi,
We used physical hostname at the time of R1211 install instead of using Logical Server name.
Now our OS team want Logical name instead of Physical name.

By using the physical name you are tying us to a particular piece of hardware and making it very difficult to upgrade the hardware in the future. Is it possible for you to reconfigure your apps in those environments to use the logical names as is correct?

Oracle 11.2 standalone grid infrastructure - change hostname
Hi
I have changed hostname of my server running RHEL 5.3 with Oracle 11.2 Grid Infrastructure (standalone). After I changed the hostname of the server, the crs daemon stopped working and I cannot connect to my +ASM instance any longer.
In Oracle 10g2it was enough to run localconfig delete, localconfig add
What should I do in 11.2 ?
Thanks for help
GroxyHi Groxy,
I recently found myself asking the same question and after a fair amount of digging around I found a way to do it. Your question is now a few months old, so maybe you have found the solution already, but if not the key is using roothas.pl rather than localconfig. I have written a brief blog post covering the approach I used, so please check that out if you want more information.

How can I change the background of a running webpage on my own. Example Facebook I want to change its background color from white to black just in my view, not for all. Cause I really hate some site with white background because as I read for an hour it aches my eyes but not on those with darker background color.
You can use the NoSquint extension to set font sizes (text/page zoom) and text colors on web pages.

Hi it's me rabia and i'm apple user
I want to change my cell phone because it's having scratches on it and i also feel like its home button did't work correctly
So i want to know that can i have a new cell phone on replace of this one at any nearby of my house App store without any cost ?
But i'm not having any line yet on my phone i use it on net mostly so what is the scene can i have or can't ??
please inform me soon !Is your phone still covered by warranty? If so, go to your nearest Apple store and depending on what happened, this may or may not be covered by warranty. If it is, then you can get a replacement exactly as the phone you already have.
If out of warranty, then there is nothing you can do and you'll have to pay. -
I got an iPhone 4 a week ago. I synced my iTunes once and now I want to change what albums and playlists are on my phone. When I try to do this, iTunes threatens to remove all my apps. Of course, Apple's support is no help. I know there has to be a way to add and remove whole albums and playlists like on the music tab on the device, so please don't tell me to uncheck/delete everything from my iTunes that I don't want and re-sync. That is not helpful and not the issue. How do I get around it threatening to remove all my apps?
On the MacBook, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Advanced > Disable remote control
