See subject. Have had a rethink, and now want to change the name of my iPod mini. But how? Nothing when I selected iPod Options... after right-clicking Hynzy's iPod mini (the name of my iPod mini) in iTunes 4.9 for Windows. Help me please!

That is correct, you do not need to give them any disk. They can download the iPod Updater (something they might not already have) and iTunes (might already have it), both more recent versions than came with the iPod, from iTunes.com.

You would have to delete the existing iCloud account and create a wholly new one - you cannot change the @icloud.com email address of the one you already have. To make a new one, you will also need an new AppleID as any AppleID can only have one iCloud account associated with it.
Deleting the account will not delete anything off your device (if prompted for things like contacts, choose to keep them). You will have to sync everything anew with the new account as you cannot move your sync'd content, your old backups or anything else from one iCloud account to another. You will have to set up sync again and let it sync to the new account, and then make new backups to the new account as well.

If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

You can transfer all of your song files from iPod to Mac using a third-party utility. Macs can read the Windows format, so it should work even if the iPod is formatted for Windows.

Updating my iPod mini from a second PC

I want to update my iPod mini from a second PC. When I start to do so I get a message that my iPod is linked to another iTunes music library and am asked: Do you want to change the link and replace all existing songs with those from this (the second) library?
Of course, I don't want to so I'm stuck and unable to update unless I'm willing to lose what's already on my iPod. Is there a workaround? Any advice much appreciated.

Click 'no' to this message, then select iPod options by right clicking on the iPod in the source window and change the transfer method to manual.
This is how you will have to keep it whilst you are using more than one computer to update your iPod.

The Macbook will come with iTunes installed so really you just need to connect the Mini up. However, if your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys, (on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually

my iPod mini's battery dies within 10 minutes. I'll charge it overnight and still only around ten minutes. I got the speakers but that charger doesnt work either. I don't know what to do.

i just changed my ipod mini's battery because of the same problem (10 hour charge to a 5 minute life span) . it appears to me that the new battery (more ampage than the original) provides no improvement whatsoever, in fact, worsened the lifespan!
If I leave my ipod switched off with the hold on, it will reset it self and then half of the battery will go away..
any reasons /???

Changing an iPod from Windows to Mac format

I want to change my iPod from a windows format to Mac. I understand that i can restore my ipod but how could I get my songs back on the Mac from the PC . I have also heard that I can use iPod iRip but do not quiet understand that. If anyone could explain to me either how to restore and not lose my music or to use iRip i would really appriciate it.
