Change Thunderbolt Disk Sleep Time

Hi, so I have a new iMac with a LaCie d2 Thunderbolt being used with Time Machine. Since the LaCie is a little loud (in comparison with the super silent iMac), I want OS X to put it into standby mode sooner than it already does.
I know I should be able to just open terminal and use "pmset -a disksleep" to change this time (default 10, I'd probably make it 5), but to my understanding this is for all hard drives (external and internal). Is there anyway to specify this command to only external disks or, better yet, only time machine disks?
Finally, if there isn't a way to only set this for the external drive, would it cause any problem to just set disksleep to 5? I'd prefer I could just get my external to immediatly sleep once the backup is done, so maybe I could spend some time to write a script to do that, but I wouldn't know what to do.

When you use the Lion restore as described, it does a fresh install on the hard drive that you can select at the beginning of the process. This provides a complete install of the very latest version of Lion, including the recovery partition. The drive that you choose for the installation destination winds up like what you would have on a brand new computer from Apple.

On your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link. If you are doing it on your iPad then you could try tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store on and selecting 'View Apple ID' on the popup - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.

HT3275 "The external disk must be erased before it can be used for Time Machine backups because it has an incompatible filesystem." What if I don't want to erase the disk?

I'm trying to use Time Machine on my Macbook (which is a year old) to back up onto a 1Tb external hard drive. I have 860 Gb free on the hard drive. But for some reason Time machine presents me with the statement above. How can I back-up my laptop without clearing out the data I already have on the hard drive?

Time Machine must back up to a hard drive that has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Your drive is likely formatted in FAT 32.
If you want to use the drive for Time Machine backups, you will have to erase it and reformat using Disk Utility on your Mac.
First, move the files that you do not want to lose to another temporary location and test to make sure they are OK.
Second, erase the drive that you want to use for Time Machine backups and format it for Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Third, move the files back to the hard drive. Test to make sure they are OK. When you are sure that the files are safe, you can erase them from their former "temporary" location. (Although I do wonder how you are backing up these files).
Time Machine will not touch the other files that you have on the hard drive.

The disk # is based on the amount physical/virtual disks configured at the time of command line run. In a virtual environment, you can add disks to the virtual machine and then change the command to DISK 5. In a physical environment it is not possible
to do so unless you have 6 (disk count starts at 0) physical disks connected to the SATA/IDE ports.

Oddly enough, I found that this works but is not accurate. Setting the time for 30 minutes would allow my disks to spin down after only 23 minutes. At a 60 minute setting, they would spin down in about 44 minutes. They seem to spin down anywhere from 70% to 80% of the value set. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know why?

How to change the day and time seen on the calendar

Hi.
I am a bit confused as to how to restrict the day and time shown on a calendar.
The ical help says this:
To change the days of the week or the number of hours that appear in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences, and make your choices from the Week and Day pop-up menus in the General pane. For example, you can choose to only see the hours from 9AM to 5PM on Monday through Friday.
However, in my preferences pane, i don't have a either a week or day pop up menu that i can see, so i can't seem to restrict these fields. It's really frustrating as calendars are beginning at 1am!!!!
Anybody got any ideas?

OK, but what did the help menu mean when it said..
To view the day's, week's, or month's events, click the Day, Week, or Month button at the bottom of the iCal window.
To change the days of the week or the number of hours that appear in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences, and make your choices from the Week and Day pop-up menus in the General pane. For example, you can choose to only see the hours from 9AM to 5PM on Monday through Friday.
To change which months are shown in the mini-month calendar (in the lower-left corner of the iCal window), click the arrows above the mini-month calendar. To see more than one month, drag the mini-month divider (the horizontal gray bar above the diamond) upward.
To see events that are earlier or later in the day, use the scroll bar on the right side of the main calendar view.
To change the range of time in the main calendar view that is not shaded (representing your "normal" day), choose iCal > Preferences. In the General pane, choose the times you want to appear in white (not shaded) from the "Day starts at" and "Day ends at" pop-up menus. All times outside that range are shaded.
This suggests that you should be able to limit the hours actually shown on the calendar to a set range as opposed to just changing the shaded area.
Have you any idea how to achieve this, as i don't see the popup menu suggested with...

The Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper, or similar software. For best results, place the second drive inside the computer or in a FireWire enclosure and boot the computer from it before removing the internal drive.

maybe be more specific...
you can sync multiple devices to the same itunes account on the same laptop. Simply plug in the new iphone 4s and check off all the settings you want to sync (apps, music, playlists, books, videos, etc).
If you want your iphone 4s to look exactly like your 3gs...
1. do an icloud backup of your 3gs
2. restore your iphone 4s to factory settings
3. when setting up the phone, choose "restore from icloud backup"
4. choose the most recent icloud backup (should display the date and time of the 3gs backup you just performed
5. phone will load everything just as it is on the 3gs... onto the iphone 4s
