I am using Windows 7 and just downloaded Safari 5.1.7
I want to change the way Safari opens a file type. Specifically the AVI file type. I would like Safari to cause VLC Player to launch, outside of Safari, and play the AVI file. I don't find that Safari provides me with a method to change how Safari will open a file. Presently Safari will do nothing when I pull down the file menu, select "open", and then select an AVI file from a disk folder. I have Opera, Firefox and IE launching VLC,,,, but not Safari.

Hi,
I want to change the Allocation cost element for an activity type in KP26. I have already changed the cost element in the activity master data in KL02. Now i want to change it in KP26. I am trying to delete the existing line item in KP26 to create the new line item with the new cost element, but system not allowing to delete the existing one. It throws the error message ""Allocations with XXXXXXX/XXXX (Cost center/Activity type) exist ; deletion not possible". Can someone please help me to change the cost element?

Thanx for you people for helping me. i havin gone doubt here. If i am deleting the existing line in KP26 and create new line with appropriage cost element will it be cause the existing datas? I don't want to go for another activity type, because our process is a complex process exist all over the world in more than 300 company codes. So i want to use the existing activity type but want to change the allocation cost element alone. Is there any possibility to change the cost element alone?

if I want to email something from the internet (safari) it always sends it from my .mac mail account. I want to be able to send it from my yahoo account. How do I do that?

I'm assuming that if you go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, your Yahoo account is NOT listed there. If it is listed, then just drag it to the top of the list area.
If it's not listed, I think your only choice is to set it up in Mac Mail -- whether you actually use it from Mac Mail or not, that seems to be the only place Safari looks when you take one of it's File > Mail options.

Restored a phone want to change the way the phone syncs

I had to restore my wfes phone, her phone was set to sync automatic she wants it changed to manual sync. also how do i remove the music she has on her phone ?

How is she syncing? iTunes or icloud?
If itunes, then in the first tab in itunes for the device you can set sync preferences (also in the other tabs, like for contacts, calendars, etc.
To remove music, connect device to itunes on computer and in itunes' music tab, choose the preferences you want (sync manually or auto, which albums, etc. to sync, and so on. Just uncheck the music you no longer want on the device.

FileReference: Want to force the browser to open a File Instead of Downloading it

I am using the FileReferece class for downloading a file. The download() method prompts for saving the file on the file system.
Instead of downloading a file, I want the browser to open it based on its extension. So if a file is test.xyz, then it should be able to open it using an installed application which understands to handle these files.
Any ideas on how this can be done.

Because you made a layer, and JPEG doesn't support layers.
Turn off the "preserve cropped pixels" option in the crop options, or just flatten your document so you can save it as JPEG.

How do I change the way Safari 6.0 uses RSS feeds?

Before I updated my safari to 6.0, I had a button with my RSS-sources in the menu bar in Safari. When I clicked one of the sources it contains, it would open in a new tab (in Safari) the RSS feed for that source.
However, ever since I've updated Safari to 6.0, it opens the RSS feed in Mail (I haven't changed any settings what so ever) in a way that is not handy for me.
In the normal preferences menu, I can't find any way to change RSS settings. And when I use the Help button, and search for RSS, I don't find anything either.
Is there anybody who knows how to solve this problem?

Thanks for the quick reply.
However, this didn't solve the issue. It puts a button in the menu that helps you save an RRS feed. And when you press this button, Mail opens up to store the feed.
I'd like Safari to open the RSS feeds again, like it used to.

Firefox keeps changing the way it handles PDF files. Why?

I have been pulling my hair out over this one. When I click on a PDF file, I'm asked for a "save" location. When I set the application option to preview PDF files, it does so until I re-start Firefox, at which point it reverts back to "Save File." It's driving me mad.

Changing the way browser handles txt files to directly download instead of previewing in browser

When I click on a URL that leads to a txt file, it is being previewed in the browser directly. I would like to change this so that it is downloaded automatically.
I checked how the application handles "Text Document" objects and it is set to "Save File", however the txt file is still being displayed directly.
The MIME Type is "text/plain", and seems to match the settings shown in mimetypes.rdf
What do I do to make it so that txt files are downloaded automatically? Is there some setting similar to pdfjs that is overwriting my own content settings?

Proper way to make bulk changes the Owner ID, Path and file share credentials for my existing subscriptions, ExtensionSettings

We are going through with an upgrade/migration to SSRS 2012 and moving everything to a different domain. We have about 200 active subscriptions running, the reports are being delivered to a file share. What is the correct way, in bulk, to change
the OwnerId, the Path and the FileShare Username password credentials for these subscriptions? I see these values are being stored in Subscriptions > ExtensionSettings. I see that the file share path and Owner wouldn't be a problem to change,
but since I see the file share credentials are encrypted I would not be able change them directly in ExtensionSettings. Anyone know the proper way to change the Owner ID, Path and file share credentials for my existing subscriptions without having to
change each one of them manually in the report manager?
Note: Reporting Services Native upgrade from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2012.

Based on my understanding, you want to change the Owner ID, Path and file share credentials for all existing subscriptions.
In Reporting Services, the subscription information are stored in the Report Server database. In your scenario, you can go to report server database and run the query to list all the subscriptions, then modify the owner and fileshare paths in the subscriptions

the file share credentials for subscriptions, you can run the query provided by

Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project. And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip. Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad." When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.

I want to change the default file type in the Open File dialog - most recently specifically in Adobe Acrobat, from Adobe Files to All Files, so I don't have to do it again and again manually. Is this possible? Is it an OS setting or an app-specific setting?

The Apps set the default to the file type it can open, sort of. However, there normally isn't a type specified. All document types that the app can handle will be offered.
Adobe, and Microsoft, tend to roll their own dialogs, so they may not be standard. I don't have Acrobat, so I can't verify that. If Adobe is puting a file type selector in their open file dialogs, it would be up to them to store the preferences.
EDIT: I checked Reader, and i see what you mean. Not terribly useful.

HT3529 New 7.0 version update changes the way text messages are presented. In the new version, I cannot figure out how to delete individual texts. I can delete entire strings of messages, but I want to delete old texts, but keep the recent texts

The new version of the software for my iPhone 4 changed the way text messages are managed.
I can no longer delete individual texts from a text "conversation." I also have not figured out how to forward texts, which I was able to do in the prior version.
Anyone know a way to edit out individual messages without losing the entire string?

When you have the conversation open, if you tap & hold on a message bubble, you should get a new menu pop-up. It should have 2 options "Copy" and "More..." If you select the "More..." option it will then let you select one or more message bubbles and delete the selected ones by hitting the trach can icon in the lower left corner. As for forwarding, you probably just select the "Copy" option, then paste the contents into a new message...
