I want to charge for my podcast

Hi guys I was just wondering if anybody knew how to charge for a podcast because if i dont i wont be able to make anymore podcasts as i cant keep goin on lite versions of software as there is no room for videos. Could anyone help?

If you are talking about a podcast in iTunes it's not possible to charge for podcasts there. There's no reason why you shouldn't run a website which includes audio or video episodes in the same way, and arrange charging for that, but it's not something I have experience of and you would have to Google for a website provider or a service which can provide this for you - it should certainly be possible.

  • Charging for video podcast

I want to charge $1.99 for people to download my video podcasts. How do I do this?

One of the problems that I understand iTunes does not really want to deal with is intelectual copyright infringement. Many people are creating podcasts and they do not have the proper authorizations (legaly speaking) to charge for the podcasts.
If you are using music that you did not create yourself then you need permission to use it, especially if you charge for it.
If people other than yourself are in the podcast then you need have permission to use them in your cast, if you are to be paid for it.
There are a lot of legal issues involved that Apple has to take into consideration and the two I listed are huge for a corporation such as Apple. A law suit for copyright infringement or assisting in infringement could cost them dearly.
May not have helped you any but maybe it explaines a little what is going on.

  • Charging for Video Podcasts

    Hi.
I am investigating the possibility of making video content from an educational company available on iTMS as video podcasts. Is it possible to charge people to access these video podcasts?
We already charge people a small fee for sending out the content on DVD. We could reduce this cost if the content could be downloaded from the iTMS.
    Thanks for your help.
    James

As it exists today, pay-to-listen/view podcasts are not supported in iTMS. Rush Limbaugh seems to have a working model, but you can't go through iTMS to subscribe and I presume (but will likely never find out for myself) that iTunes won't work as a podcast aggregator for that type of setup.
In the future, well, things may change. But terms of service prohibit speculative discussion of future changes in Apple's product mix.

  • Apple wants to charge for a repair but won't tell me what's wrong with my iPad

So my iPad mini is 1 year and 5 days old, and it suddenly won't power on.  Nothing, even with a different charger and cable.  The Apple website said to send in for battery/power issues, so I filled in the form and gave them my credit card for a little over $100.00 and sent it to them via UPS.  That was 2 days ago, now I get an email saying they need to charge me $225.95+tax and I have 48 hours to either pay it or have them send the unit back.  Nothing on their repair status tells me what is wrong and why the sudden increase in price for an iPad mini repair.  I can call or chat online for another $19.00, but that seems like hiway robbery to me.  I mean, I already paid you $100+, can't you even tell me what you found that needs another $225?!?!?  On the repair status, there is an area called views of your product with a broken image file, so I can't even see what they are referring to.
If I way the $19, will they even be able to tell me anything, or will they just read what I can see on the webpage?  I'm starting to think it will be cheaper to just buy another iPad mini at this rate.
    Has anyone any advice ?

Well, I called Apple and talked to them last night.  They were surprisingly very friendly.  They emailed me a picture of the iPad with what they were concerned about.  Now there is a dent in a corner, that I know wasn't there before.  I take create care of the iPad and use a full bumper case.  I explained to the repair tech that this dent is new and was not there when I took the iPad in for UPS.  Actually, when I took the iPad to UPS, I had the unit in the original box (I'm OCD that way).  The guy at UPS told me to take the iPad out of the box and then he weighed the iPad, some bubble wrap and an empty box.  He then said it was good to go and I walked away with the original packaging.  I honestly suspect the damage happened at UPS.  Plus a small dent in a corner shouldn't affect battery, right?  Anyway, after talking with a few people at repair, they noticed that their records show the iPad being 1 day out of AppleCare.
The last guy was going to just charge me for the battery replacement, which I am good with.  But, guess what, Apple can't partial charge, it's either all or nothing.  So, after about an hour of being on the phone, they will repair or replace the iPad at no charge to me (just this once, only).
I have to admit, that calling and talking with these guys was very helpful.  Everyone was friendly and cheering.  Plus I wasn't calling India (no offence to India).  I am definitely going to continue purchasing Apple products if this how their support works.  If only Cisco could learn to work that way...

  • No Broadband on Home Hub - BT want to charge for a...

    Hi everyone,
Apologies in advance if this issue has been covered in the forums already, i have had a read through and can't seem to find any relating to this issue.
My mother has a Home Hub (white one) sorry not sure which model.
    The phone line works ok.
The Home Hub is showing no Broadband (Amber light).
My mother has contacted BT and initially raised an incident and waded through the help desk being passed about and asked to reset everything, she explained she had already had the filter and master socket replaced along with resetting the Home Hub, checked internal cable and removed the only extension cable.
The BT helpdesk are insisting it is an internal issue and have closed the incident VOL051-*********** and are saying they will only proceed unless she pays for a call out.
She is not on fibre, it is an old overhead cable coming into the property.
Is this correct? Is there anything else my mum can do or does she have to pay?
If it turns out to be a BT fault is there a process for her to claim this payment back?
Again apologies if this has been posted before, but really do not know where to go now.
    Many thanks,
    Steve

    welcome to the forum
first can you delete the vol ref number for your security as this is a public form
if the phone is working ok can you connect the filter to the test socket and then filter to hub and see if that gets a conenction

  • How can I charge a price for my podcasts instead of keeping them free? How do I set this up?

Right now, my podcasts get syndicated and show up in iTunes- I had set them up to be downloaded for FREE... However, now with the popularity of my show growing, I would like to charge for downloads. Can someone please tell me how to do this? I'm not that computer savvy- so I really need a simple yet detailed walk thru... Thank you

Every single Podcast in iTunes is FREE.  There is no way in iTunes to charge for a podcast.
What you need to do if you want to have a premium offering is keep some episodes for Free in iTunes and then use a 3rd party to help you manage a premium offering that is spearate from iTunes.  This is what Marc Maron and Adam Carolla do.  The both use the Mylibsyn premium offering.
    https://www.libsyn.com/mylibsyn
You do need to host your files with libsyn for this to work.
Let me know if you have any questions on this.

  • Charging for Podcasts

I have been posting enhanced podcasts of a radio show for several months for a radio producer. The question has now come up about "Can we charge for the podcasts?" Is this possible & if so, how would I go about this?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I think your best bet is ads. Or selling it as music.
But this should be discussed in the right forum, please repost this in the itunes forum and put a link here.

  • ICloud unauthorized charge for "upgrade"?

I discovered I'm being charged $40 a year for "upgraded" iCloud storage I never ordered.  Apple Support is useless as they say they can't fix iCloud issues refer you to website support which wants to charge for "Express Lane" support to get them to take off a phony charge on iCloud.
Has anyone run into iCloud unathorized "upgrading" and charging and how did you fix it since Apple Support wants to charge $50 to talk to them about stopping their unathorized $40 "upgrade" charge.

Roger Wilmut1 London, UK  Have you checked that you have actually be charged this? The upgrade is, as said, temporary and free.
Several charges from Apple in October 2011 when they say I "signed up" for iCloud.  I only noticed it when they just killed MobileMe/iDisk and I had to go there to setup up FindMyiPhone and see I'm signed up for $40 year of iCloud storage.
My guess is that was during iCloud rollout when they were trying to get people to drop MobileMe/iDisk and use iCloud until you found out what a disaster iCloud is.   If you said yes to opening an iCloud account they automatically billed for $40 upgrade.
Apparently the scam is it is "free" but  it automatically defaults to "autopay" so user gets charged for unordered storage.
Probably a great "class action" suit for some enterprising lawyer, I'll just put it down to fool me twice, shame on Apple.

  • Can iphone apps charge for updates?

Does anyone know if iPhone developers can charge a customer for updates to apps already purchased? I'm curious if eventually they can charge for bug fixes, etc... I have seen mention in the past that updates to apps were required to be free but am now wondering if this policy has changed. I am mostly interested in TomTom and if they will be able to charge next year for app updates that fix bugs and such. I understand in-app purchases for new features and charging for that but am concerned that they will be able to charge for bug fixes...

Does anyone know if iPhone developers can charge a customer for updates to apps already purchased?
The developer can to the best of my knowledge pretty much do whatever they want regarding charging for an update. I've never seen any mention of a policy at Apple requiring updates to be made available for free, though I can't say with certainty that no such policy has ever existed. It would be unusual, but not unheard of, for a developer to charge for an update that was only bug fixes, but it's not at all uncommon for a developer to wrap what most people would consider to be essential bug fixes into an update with new features and thereby justify charging for the update.
If you're concerned, contact TomTom and ask what their policy will be regarding future updates.

I received an email this am telling me I was charged for a purchase I made of .99 this am.  I did not purchase anything. I contacted PayPay and was informed it was for a recurring monthly .99 fee..I don't know what that is and don't want it. What is it?  PayPal cancelled any further payments for this. I was informed I needed to request refund from ITunes. I did that. Why was I charged a .99 recurring fee? I purchased, or thought I did, an app called "Appzilla2" on Jan 10 for .99 cents.  Does this mean I must pay .99/monthly to use it?  If so, please cancel the appzilla.

We are itunes users just like you.  We cannot cancel anything.
Look at your purchase history and see what the charge is for.  Contact itunes support if need be.

  • I bought a MBPro which came with Lion installed,i also wanted to have a copy of installation disc so i used mac app store.Normally if an app is already bought there is a warning or a sign that informs the buyer.I've charged for this download is it normal?

Hi ,i bought a MacBookPro which came with Lion installed on it (i have registered my mac book pro right after i bought it), i also wanted to have a copy of the installation disc in case of a crash, so i used mac app store to get it.Normally if an app is already bought (for iphone app store) there is a warning or a sign that informs the buyer, than the app store lets the buyer to re-download/re-install the app.I've charged for this download afterwards, because i was using virtual credit card, there was not enough money transferred to that card during that download but the app store let me download it anyway. I haven't charged before the download, the app store first let me to download it then it requested that amount of money for next download wich it was a free app. Can anybody enlight me? thanks

    Hi ...
i also wanted to have a copy of the installation disc in case of a crash
If you have problems with your Mac you use Lion Recovery
However, you can create your own installation disc >  How to create an OS X Lion installation disc | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews
Since Lion came pre installed on your Mac, the App Store doesn't not recognize that as a purchase so you if you want to re download Lion to create a boot disk you will have to pay for it. You can then re download Lion on all your authorized Macs for free.

    Hello, Lynne.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is a helpful article that explains how iTunes purchases are billed.
iTunes Store: How iTunes Store purchases are billed
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5582
When using iTunes to purchase content for the first time on a new device, it may require you to verify your payment information as a way to authenticate your device.  If this not a new device attempting to access iTunes store and prompting you provide payment information, there could be an outstanding balance.  This article will show you how to verify you purchase history and invoices.
iTunes Store & Mac App Store: Seeing your purchase history and order numbers

Also, you can change the payment method as none as long as there isn't an outstanding balance on the account.

  • HT1657 I do not want to be charged for a movie I can't watch...

I have rented movies from iTunes before and not had a problem. Today I tried to rent a movie and while watching it freezes many times and then stops downloading. I have tried many different things to resume the download and the movie but this has been going on for over three hours now. Worse is that the movie has actually started downloading from scratch again so I can't even pick it up from where I left off. I will not be able to watch the movie as I need to go to bed for work tomorrow morning and since I work a full day I will not have a chance to watch the movie durring the day if by some chance it does download. I do not want to be charged for a movie that I can't watch. How do I make sure that I am not billed for this crappy service?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

You cannot call anyone.  You contact them as everyone else does:  http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
You delete the app as you do any other app.  Hold an icon until they wiggle.  Tap the "x".  This is covered in the manual.
