I want to connect a Belkin router to my TC

I want to connect a Belkin router to my TC via cable to extend my network to my garage.  Can anyone tell me how to go about it, if it is possible to do?

966?? That is not its full model number and revision. I cannot find any listing for 966.
Belkin numbers are like..
F5D or F7D something.. usually 4 numbers..
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Belkin
See typical models which are semi useful because you can flash them to dd-wrt.
Looking at this airport express on eBay:  Apple Airport Express A1264 54 Mbps Wireless N Router (MB321LL/A)
That is the least useful model.. it has one ethernet port.. so there is no way of using it with ethernet in the garage and the wireless is weak single band.
Here is what I would buy.

Even the next one.. if it is not too expensive is a fair bit better.

  • Connecting to Belkin Router

I just recently bought a Belkin Router and can not connect through WPA encryption. When I turn the encryption off, I can connect fine. I called support and when I told the guy my pass phrase was 11 characters he said that it should be 10. I made a new one using 10 characters and it still doesnt connect. Anyone have any tips? Thanks

First, switch from WPA to WPA2 (Personal, if it's supported.) If that doesn't work you may need to check for a firmware update for the router.
If you continue having problems then try a different product. I've had good success with the D-Link DI-524. However, if you want the best compatibility spring the extra cash and buy the new Apple Extreme Base Station.

  • Brand new Macbook not connecting to Belkin Router!

Hi, I am at my wits end here seriously. I've read countless posts from everywhere on people having trouble with the Macbook and it not connecting to their router.
My situation: I bought my Macbook 5 days ago, brand new. So whatever the latest versions of everything is, however it is still running Tiger, but I am waiting on Leopard in the mail.
I have a Belkin router(I'm at work so I don't have it with me to check the correct model number but it looks like it would be F5D5231-3 (it's about 3 years old). Now my Macbook recognises the router, however it will not connect. I've spent the last 4 nights on the phone to Belkin, Apple and my ISP, and I'm going to have a breakdown because no one has been any help.
Anyway, I went to a cafe last night to use their hotspot wireless internet, and I connected to their internet just fine. I have tried everything Belkin, Apple and my ISP has told me to do and nothing has worked. I had an iBook when I first got my router and it connected just fine, I didn't have airport but I had a wireless d-link USB device. Why oh why is my new Macbook causing me so much trouble?? I've wasted so much time being bounced around from one useless person to the other... I just need some help or suggestions.
Also, there is a desktop PC and two PC laptops in the same house which connect fine to the router.
Please anyone who is able to help me I will be eternally grateful. The thing is I really don't need the internet as my partner has a laptop with internet, but I want everything working. I want to have my own laptop with my own internet connection and to stop wasting time messing around with settings and everything.
Thanks for hearing my rant. Please don't hesitate to give me some advice!

Would the problem be that my router is 'g' and 'b' based? I notice that the new Macbooks airport are 'n" based. But even so, I'm sure the cafe I went to wasn't 'n'. If I have to buy a new router I will, but would rather not if I can get this router to work.

  • New iPad Wi-Fi ;  wont connect to Belkin Router

Hi...grateful for any experts' help out there .. So I got a new 16Gb iPad for Xmas, lucky man I know.... Im a pro TV/film composer with 2 macbooks, 3 ipods, an iphone 4 and a studio g5 so Im cool with Apple stuff and know my way around them... BUT - I cant wi fi connect to the internet via our home router, a Belkin N10117 Wireless G Router. In terms of info I should say that:
    - the iPad can see the router and connects to it but loading Safari says 'no internet connection'
    - we have 2 ipod touches, an iphone 4 and 2 macbooks successfully connected to the net via wi fi using the Belkin
    - when I try joining the network the IP address and the Subnet Mask are filled in, but the Router DNS Search Domains etc all blank which I take to be bad..
    - I have tried the following: brightness fix/multiple restart of router, ipad etc/reset network settings of iPad, forget network etc, then went to Belkin control panel and added Mac Address filtering, adding in Wi Fi address of iPad , still no joy - all other items worked fine after this.
Should add also that my bro in law also got a new iPad on the same day - his also did not work with the Belkin but worked fine when he got home on his network. So it seems it is a setting issue within the iPad/belkin rather than a specific hardware issue or router issue.
Ill be so very grateful for any info - have been on the forum/support sites searching all afternoon and now Im asking for help. One poster quoted success with the Mac address filtering route but no luck for me... if anyone can tell me the Belkin router will categorically will not work with the iPad then so be it but that would seem very poor given that all other hardware works perfectly (theres no info on Belkin site).
To quote Sting and his hundred million bottles washed up on the shore, it seems "Im not alone in being alone" with this problem.... theres a LOT of iPad Wi Fi issues. I love Mac with a passion and use all their gear on TV and film scores but am currently VERY unhappy. Anyones help on helping transform this from a pretty beermat into something useful? Otherwise its a refund and a new guitar....Thanks so much guys.... KB

Hi Ralph... thanks for responding on this tricky issue, really appreciated.
Yes - Ive tried Autofill off, that was mentioned on an earlier search, no joy. The router is probably 3y or so old, and has worked perfectly. According to the Belkin Control Panel (which I currently have open) the firmware is the latest version - but have to say I dont know how to check:
.... before Sept 2009, do not have an implementation of the IEEE 802.11 n-protocol that is completely compliant with the standard..
would there be anywhere in the control panel settings that gave us that info? Im sure you're on the right track about the iPad being picky.. Im just not knowledgable enough to know what settings to change myself.. Im curious as to why the Router/DNS/Search Domains boxes were empty whereas on all other mac items theyre automatically filled in....? As you say Belkin are great; Ill buy a new router if I have to but dont know whether that would solve the problem?
    so grateful for any help...cheers

  • Loss of connection with Belkin router

I have been using a Belkin N450DB router with my Westell modem for over 2 months. Everything was fine until 4 days ago when my router lost connection. I have tried the self heal with the router and the troubleshooting with the modem. I currently have internet with just the modem hooked up but have lost connection 3-4 times this way over the past 4 days. I have no connection with the router connected now. It says wire unplugged. I was thinking it was the router but have found out another DSL customer in my town has the exact same issue and he has a different router.  Did Verison reset some security programs that won't allow my router to connect or is Verison DSL having issues we are not aware of in Greenwood, DE?  It is just strange that two residences are experiencing the same issues in different areas.

#1 What is the model of that Westell modem?

are you saying that the router says that or are you saying your OS (and Version - for example Windows XP) is saying that?

  • Want to connect a WRT54GS router to another WRT54GS

I have looked all over the documentation, and searched the forums here, without success. I have two WRT54GS that I would like to connect to each other, but am not sure how to do it. I would like, if possible, to avoid adding extra hardware, but if it's the only way, that's fine. If anyone has any idea how, I would appreciate it.

I was looking for a wireless method, for internet use. File sharing and printers would be a distant second. If new hardware can do it, I'll look at that. Running enough cable to set the two routers up together would be what I would need to connect the computer directly to the first router. (The extra computer in question doesn't have room for a wireless card.) EDIT: Running cable isn't very easy, since I can't go through walls or vents. I wanted to avoid that at all costs.

  • IPod Touch Wont Connect to Belkin Router

Ok so if I turn off my router security it connects fine, gets assigned an IP by DHCP but the minute I turn on the WEP again it says 'Unable to join the network'.
Very annoying!! I have tried using all caps, lower case, spaces inbetween, you name it and none of it works.
Anyone have any ideas? My macbook pro, Wii, 360 and DS all connect quite happily.
    Thanks.
    Simon

Try using a WPA security, instead of WEP. I read that some people did that and it was able to work

  • SystemUIServer wants to connect to Port 192 via Little Snitch

    Hey everyone...
Over the past couple of days my Little Snitch program has been reporting that "SystemUIServer" wants to make a UDP Connection to my router (192.168.2.1) via port 192.
This message only appears after I've booted up the computer and only has been coming up recently.
I installed the latest version of Little Snitch (2.1.4) last week but am not sure why the "SystemUIServer" process wants to connect to my router via port 192 just now out-of-the-blue.
Am I okay in putting a new rule into Little Snitch to allow this request "Forever" or should I be worried?

Is that the IP of your router? If so, it's most likely normal.
It may be some kind of data transfer between your router and the computer.
Does it happen with a direct Ethernet connection and WiFi or only one?
It's listed as OSU Network Monitoring System.
You might block it and see what happens.
Just click on the yellow triangular menu item for LS and turn it off forever and see if you notice anything not working correctly.

  • I have a dvr and I want to monitor from my phone.  this worked when I had a Belkin router that let me open ports.  I use "canyouseeme" and it can't see 80, 9000 or 1025. How do I make them available?

I have a Lorex DVR that I want to monitor from my IPhone and IPad.  I used to be able to do this when I had a Belkin router (easy to open ports) but I bought the AirPort Extreme router and no longer have that capability.  When I use "canyouseeme" they can NOT see 80, 9000 or 1025.  Lorex says I need them all available in order to access.  Help!  And all the help I see refers to a earlier version of the AirPort Utility so I cant use those to look at anything, I cant find the same screens, I have version 6.1 (610.31).  I also don't really understand how ports work, so I need a pretty basic explanation.

Well...I went to the modem (Westell, WireSpeed), found the NAT settings, once again, I'm WAY over my head, I am assuming this is a TCP connection (as opposed to a UDP) and per Lorex my mobile devices will use port 1025.  So I gave it a "global port range" of 1-10 and I indicated that the "base host port" was 80, 1025, & 9000 (ports 1,2,3).  When I selected the 'enable' it asked for a "host devise" my choices are my IPhone, IMac and the IP address for the dvr, so I choose the dvr.  I still cannot connect and canyouseeme still can NOT find these open ports.  This is taking up my whole day! I don't know how people figure this stuff out.

  • I want to set up my router for Peer To Peer connection.

I recently started playing a new game that requires Peer to Peer connection, and I lag a lot when I log in, so I was wonder what options I would have to check, How to enable/disable options to optimize my gaming connection.
What kind of router I have is MI424-WR Rev. E Actiontec. Or something along that line.. I was researching what to do and it had a lot to do with DMZ, Ports, and firewall. But any help would be appreciated.
Im off for tonight so I wont be able to check the post until like 9 hours from now. Goodnight
Oh if you need to know what game it is for some odd reason its Dungeon Fighters Online, or http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/
    I like arcade style games.
Oh and my brother connects to this router to and i want him to keep internet so none of the options can interfear with his internet connection.

I took a quick look at the www site for the game, but did not see anything definite from the vendor on what port(s) the game uses.
You would need to set up you gaming machine with a Static TCP/IP Address and configure the Verizon Router with Port Forwarding of the ports used by the game.  I would ONLY set it up in the DMZ if all else fails.
Note that the Verizon Router has a small NAT Table which may effect your ability to play a P2P game for extended periods of time.

You need the Airport card OR Airport Express but not both.  Considering the age of your machine, I recommend Airport Express as you will find other uses for it whenever you replace the eMac.
To set up the AE, you do need OSX 10.4 or higher.

  • Connecting to Messenger Applications using Belkin router

Hi. I can't seem to log into my MSN for mac, or other messenger services using my Belkin router. As a experiment, I joined my neighbours wireless connection and I could connect to MSN. My problem comes when trying to log into it using my router. Can anyone help? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem and have tried contacting Belkin with this problem but making them understand I was using an iMac was difficult enough!
These are the steps they gave me to rectify the problem but unfortunately they didn't work for me so I have taken some screen shots and am waiting on their reply. I feel I may have to resort to taking the router back to PC World!
Making sense of the first bit was pretty tricky but I guess that choosing MSN Messenger from the drop down menu in 'Virtual Servers' and adjusting the 'LAN Port" & "public port' seems to be the right way (I think).
To resolve the issue, please open below mentioned ports for MSN messenger on the router home page:
    6891-6900 Type TCP.
    1863 Type TCP and UDP.
    5190 Type UDP.
    6901 Type UDP and TCP.
-Please open the Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in "192.168.2.1" and Enter.
-Leave the password blank and click on "submit”.
-Click on "Virtual server" under the "Firewall".
-Enter the port numbers under "LAN Port" & "public port".
-Enter the IP address of this computer under the "LAN IP Address".
-Check the "Enable" box and click on "Set".
    Or
If the version number is 2000 for F5D7632 the follow the below instruction:
    1) Open an Internet explorer window.
    2) On the address bar type in 192.168.2.1 and hit Enter.
    3) Leave the password blank and click on submit.
    4) Click on Virtual servers under Firewall section.
    5) Click on New Entry.
    6) Enter the IP address of the computer under Local Host.
    7) Click on New user-defined service.
    8) Enter the port number and click on Ok.
Step:2) Please follow the below instruction to enable the NAT and UPNP feature on the router :
    - Log on to the router web interface at http://192.168.2.1
    - By default, the password is blank.
    - Click on System setting under "Utilities".
    - Change the UPNP to "ON".
    - Change the NAT to "ON".
    - Click on Apply changes

  • Mac Book cannot connect to older Belkin Router

    Hi Everyone,
I am a brand new Mac user (as of yesterday) and am trying to set the thing up. Never used a Mac before so I am not sure if it is me being a MacVirgin or not.
I have an older Belkin router (which incidently connects to everything under the sun, D-LINK, Belkin, Sony PSP, my 360 everything). My Mac Book can see my network which is an unsecured Belkin54g. When I try to connect however, I get a useless error back saying:
There was an error joining the airport network "belkin54g".
As I have said before, everything else can connect to this network and it is unsecured at present.
The router I am using is the Belkin FSD7630-4A which is currently running at 11g (slow I know). I also have not done any firmware updates to this either. Would this help?
I am also using the latest airport update and OSX10.4.9
Does anyone know of any solution to this issue. Has anyone experienced anything similar.
    Thank you.

Ok - new macbook arrived. Exactly the same problem.
Long chat with Belkin - they can't help.
    So I tried the following.
Added an airport express which i had lying around to the belkin modem/router by ethernet.
    Bingo
New macbook connects to the airport express just fine, but not the wireless belkin. I connect to the internet by piggyback.
Something is no longer compatible between 'older' belkin routers wireless and newest macbooks.
I suppose they gotta keep selling us kit...2 years old and still working? No good to wall street.....
