You do not connect your iPad to the Apple TV as such, instead you stream content from the iPad to the Apple TV. You can do this using a feature called airplay. When both devices are connected to the same network, you should see an airplay icon when playing video in certain apps, tap the icon to stream the content to the Apple TV.

So I have a ipad min. I want to connect it to my Apple TV. There is no option on my ipad for home sharing which my Apple TV is telling me to do.
Can somebody please just explain it to me in simple terms where I can find the home sharing and what I have to do to connect my Apple TV to the ipad or vice versa.
Everything I have bought from apple in the past month has been a complete let down its taking far to long to connect things and the people who sell the products to you lie about what the product does and can do.

AirPlay isn't anything to do with homesharing. (Home sharing lets you share the iTunes libraries on computers)
Basic AirPlay: Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
Mirroring: When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Restart your mobile device.

COMPUTER to PRINTER via USB cable
so when i try to connect ipad to printer, it requires some username and password. i dont know what to type in there.
i am running on a win 7 32 bit

Sorry, but this will not work. Your printer has to be directly on you network, not tethered to a computer that is on the network.
Since your printer is USB only (not a network-able printer), your only solution is to get a new wireless printer. Get one that supports AirPrint if you want to print from your iPad.

Your router will not support the method I was going to suggest.
Your only recourse is to find a friend with a laptop to come install your printer. Download and install the latest software for your printer on their computer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

Airplay is not an app, it's built-in. However, what are you are referring to (i.e. browsing the internet) is mirroring.

I want to connect my iPad to my Jabra Cruiser II car audio device. It has an fm modulator built in so I can play it through my car radio. However, I can't even seem to connect it to my own Blackberry or MacBook. I was just trying to test it out. Am I missing something?
I turn on Bluetooth. The iPad does recognize both my phone and MB, and they are paired, but not connected. I tapped on both devices (on the iPad list) and all it says is to forget device. No connection option. So... What am I missing?
I also have an iPod Touch that I would like to do this with as well. Can this even be done with either device, iPad or iPod Touch?

If this is an iPad 1, it won't mirror, but it will still output video from the 30 Pin dock connector.
If your new TV has a conventional VGA in and stereo inputs you can try this connector.

I used to stream video from both Netflix and YouTube and from my Mac using iTunes sharing through my iPad then with this connector plug into my iPad and TV.
It won't be high resolution, but it will get you picture from iPad to TV.
