I want to copy photos to my iPad air from two users on my iMac

Hi I'm new to this,
I'm trying to copy photos from two user areas on our iMac to my iPad air so that I can create some Keynote presentations.
I copied the photos I wanted to the iPad then selected them and saved under folder names to use to create some Keynote presentations.
I needed some more photos from my wifes user area and when I did the same process as before through itunes all the previously synced photos were deleted, so I'm getting irritated as I've been sitting here for hours and getting nowhere.
My iPad and iPhone are linked to my user area on the iMac.
Help!!!
PS I did check on Apple support but could not find any relevant answers

You can't delete synced photos directly in the Photos app, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync - so after syncing the first set of photos you are effectively telling iTunes to replace them with the new selection. You need to select and sync all the photos that you want to be on the iPad in each photo sync.
There are third-party photo management apps such as Photo Manager Pro which can copy photos to/from your computer, and to/from the Photos app - so you could copy one set of photos to that app, copy them from there to the Camera Roll album in the Photos app, and sync the second set of photos to the Photos app.

Had you set your iPhone up to use Photo Stream?
Had your performed an iCloud backup of your iPhone before it was damaged?
If you did neither of the above, then your photos are not in the cloud, and they are gone.
If you performed an iCloud backup, then it would contain the photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll (taken on the iPhone) at the time of your last backup. You could restore this iCloud backup to a device.
If your iPhone used Photo Stream, those photos are immediately accessible to your iPad if you set it up to use the same Photo Stream.

To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you can use Image Capture, iPhoto or Aperture.
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

I'm sorry. I got a little off-the-wall there.
I want to have the same iPhoto files on both machines. A few days ago I spent several hours swapping photos back and forth until I had one event with identical picture files on both. Yesterday I scanned some old photos into the Macbook. Today I wanted to copy them to the iMac. I could not remember what I had done a few days ago, so I spent a couple of frustrating hours trying to either remember or find another way, to no avail. I have no idea what I did right before; I only recall that it was pretty easy.
I didn't write anything down. I used to do that, but what I do is so intermittent that by the time I want to copy pictures again either (a) the app has been updated and the old way doesn't work (b) I've lost the paper with the notes on it or (everything seems fine but it just doesn't work. So I gave that up.
Yes, I do want both iPhoto libraries to be the same. The Macbook is the one with the scanner and I download from my camera on the iMac, so I need to be able to move photos from one to the other, I think.

The following link from the online iCloud Help menu provides some practical information in regards to shared stream functionality:

On an iOS 7 device
In the Photos app, tap Shared at the bottom of the screen, then tap Streams at the top of the screen.
Tap the shared stream whose subscribers you want to manage, then tap People.The Activity stream doesn’t have subscribers.
Do any of the following:
To invite more people, tap Invite People, enter email addresses or tap the Add button to select from your contacts, then tap Add.
To remove a subscriber, tap the subscriber, then tap Remove Subscriber.
To choose whether subscribers can add photos and videos, tap Subscribers Can Post.
If the subscriber list doesn’t include Invite People, you don’t own the shared stream.

iPads bought in the US are not locked to a carrier, but only the AT&T version uses micro-sim cards - the Verizon model is CDMA based and doesn't use sim cards, so for that reason is effectively locked. With the AT&T version you should be able to just swap in a local micro-sim - you don't have to activate a service with AT&T

Syncing error status in photo app (in ipad air) after sync through itunes

after syncing from itunes to ipad air, the photos (8000+photos , with separate folders) does not transfer, and keep giving status Syncing... when i open photo app in ipad air. how do i transfer all my pictures into my ipad now?

ive had a new iPad Air 2. Nightmare getting the photos form the old ipad to the new. Now it seems any pictures I take on my iphone are going into photos on the iPad air 2? Any advice would be greatly received. thanks

No, you use iTunes on either a PC or a Mac as the Apple article says in the link I supplied in my previous post.

Yes, as long as you buy a new device from an Apple Authorized reseller (which BestBuy is) then you have the normal Apple one year warranty with it. Apple will honor that warranty in any of their stores, and anyone with any Apple device is welcome in any Apple retail store with questions or seeking help.
