I want to correct an E Mail address

There is a E Mail address in the address book that needs correcting. How do I go about making this correction. An edit if you please'''bold text'''

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com.  Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE:  This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
-If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address.  Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security.  You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.

  • I have just installed Lion Is there any way to get predictive text to "learn" spellings or switch it off as it "corrects" my e-mail address ?

Does anybody know how I can switch off Lion predictive text or get it to "learn" spellings as it keeps "correcting" my e-mail address ?

You can turn it off in the Language & Text portion of System Preferences under the Text tab.  Remove the checkbox from "Correct spelling automatically".

  • For FaceTime, can you add an additional e-mail that is not your Apple ID e-mail?  Everytime I try to do this on my iPad it sends me a verification e-mail saying I am trying to change the e-mail address associated with my apple ID and wants me to verify.

I am trying to add another e-mail address to FaceTime, but do not want to change the e-mail address associated with my Apple ID.  Everytime I try to add the e-mail address in my FaceTime settings, it send me a verification e-mail asking me to verify that I want to change to this new e-mail address for my apple ID.  I do not.  I just want to have an additional e-mail address for people to contact me via FaceTime. Does anyone know how to do this?

You can have multiple addresses associated with your apple id. You will have to verify any changes before they can be added and this is done by sending you an email. This is to protect you from someone else makeing changes to your account.
You can make any changes and view all your info here:

  • My Apple ID is my e-mail address.  If I have a new e-mail address and want to use this address instead will I loose all my apps that I have already purchased?

I want to change my e-mail address due to my having a new Internet provider.  I used my old e-mail address as my Apple ID to get on the App Store, iTunes Store and iCloud.  Will I still be able to download my old purchases if I lose them when I switch addresses?

go to id.apple.com, manage ur apple id, sign in, change primary email to the new one. this will change ur apple id to the new email address and ull get to keep ur purchases

Okay here is where I am at so far and thanks for sticking with me, we may have success eventually! Can you confirm the following:
1--I Go into the iMac Address Book and click on File/Export/Address Book Archive.
2--It then asks me where I want to save Address Book and I indicate Desktop.
3--I then assume I somehow transfer this Desktop file to the iBook--can I just copy the file, email it to the iBook, and paste it into the iBook Desktop?
    Yes
4--If I'm accurate so far, I then do the same with the iBook Archive and save it
    to the iBook Desktop.
    Yes
5--NOW I open the iMac archive that is on the iBook desktop and it will ask me if I want to overwrite the existing iBook address book and I indicate Yes and it will then place the iMac address book on the iBook.
    Yes
6--When and if I want to put the iBook address book back into the iBook I click on the file that is on the iBook Desktop and proceed to put the 'old' iBook address book back in.
    That's it.
If I am correct on this, another question arises--does this method transfer every email address I use as I notice in Address Book under 'All Contacts' there are some that are missing. I may not have manually added each and every address to my Address Book so maybe that is why some are missing and may not show up in this transfer of Archives? Thanks for your patience Barney.
That's what I would assume. Like I said, the Archive is really just a copy of the AddressBook folder which contains everything related to Address Book and Mail's previous recipients.
Now, the Address Book contacts and Mail's previous recipients are different entities--they just share the same storage location. So, if that is what you mean by there are some missing, they should still auto-complete in Mail since the previous recipients also is used for auto-complete.

  • Mistyped e-mail address from day 1. Can't change it.

From Day 1 I had problem using the tiny keyboard and by mistake typed one letter incorrectly on my Apple ID/email.  Although I've changed my email in other areas I still cannot access those areas with the mistyped email because I can't remember the details such as the  security question and of course, when I ask for Apple to confirm a password change it doesn't reach me because the email doesn't exist (as it was mistyped).  All I want to do is change the mistyped e-mail to a correctly typed e-mail address, so if anyone has an idea on how I might do this I'd be very grateful.  Many thanks. Jann

  • How to set up a new apple e-mail address when already have an existing Apple ID

    Hello
Thank you for taking a look at my query - I have searched many posts but not found a specific answer to my question - so please help!
    My dilemma:
I am in effect running everything smoothly - I am already on iCloud and have an @me.com mail address.
The problem arises in that I need to change my name (due to a divorce) and hence my e-mail address -  I would like to use my maiden name for obvious reasons!
    So what have I tried?:
I have set up a new Apple ID using a 'hotmail' address, as you need an existing address to set an ID, but would actually like a new 'apple' address. How do I do this? Since I have registered all my devices (iMac, iPad 3 and iPhone 3GS) with iCloud already using my married name ID it seems I am unable to get another appleID? Is this true? Is there a way around this?
    Concerns:
I have many communications with lawyers and ex and various other things I would like to keep on my existing apple ID/mail account (and also itunes etc) I still need to be able to access this information. I am happy to keep this  apple ID active at the same time as having the new ID if this is possible on all the same devices? Currently however I do not know how to do this, i.e. run two mail accounts through iCloud OR ideally transfer my info to the new ID - however from reading around I believe this latter (logical) option may be impossible?
    So:
... I need a knight (or maiden) in  shining armour to help me understand my options, answer the Q's above and provide the steps I have to follow to do this as I am no IT guru! And as there are many similar Qs without a clear answer I'm sure you will gain lots of points!
    Thanking you kindly in advance!
PS. Apple if you are reading this please can you do something about this situation as there seem to be many questions around this issue. Unfortunately divorce and name changes are a frequent part of life these days and it would be good if you can accommodate this!

OK, so I realised I was still within my 90days of being able to get support from Apple due to recent iPad3 purchase.
So between what I have gleaned from this forum and what I have learnt from the support call here I hope is a comprehensive one stop shop  answer to the question... "How do I get another Apple e-mail address ?" It's not straight forward but bear with me as you will get a result (also if anyone with IT prowess can offer further advice or clarification please do reply to this so we keep all info in the same place)... right -  we shall begin:
First a few points to bear in mind/wise words that I wish I was aware of before:
You preferably do not want more than one Apple ID so that syncing etc is straight forward. SO create an e-mail address that you will be happy to have no matter what, whether you are married/divorced (and yes it unfortunately could happen...) etc...
    So...
    1. First go to www.myinfo.apple.com, change your country as required and click on manage your account. Log-in. Should go straight to your Name, ID and e-mail tab.
    2. OK you are now presented with one of two scenarios....
    a) If your AppleID and primary e-mail address  is a me.com (or mac.com) then you are unlikely to have an edit option next to this line - follow point 3. Another ID has to be generated, and unfortunately (as Winston Churchill above rightly pointed out, the problem that you will have on the whole is that any purchases you make from the iTunes Store under your previous account, will be inaccessible on many of your devices. - IF however all you wanted is a new e-mail address and you are happy to keep running your old ID at the same time - there is a way around this .... read on to point 3)
    b) If your AppleID and primary e-mail address is not a me.com (or mac.com) then - follow point 4. This is the better option to have, hop skip and jump with glee as you will in effect have the same ID account and syncing will not be an issue. But note that your new ID will not be editable going forward so head my words of wisdom above.
NB. If you already have more than one ID and one of the 'Apple ID and primary e-mail' is editable i.e. 2b) then choose this option to change as it is simpiler to manage.
    3. OK lots of steps here and explanations:
    i) You need to create another Apple ID - there are two ways of doing this a) if you go to your iphone or ipad settings > iCloud > delete your account (Don't worry you are effectively only signing out and not deleting) (you'll be given an option what to do with your contacts) > The page will then give you an option to create a new Apple ID.... follow the steps, and you will get a new me.com  AppleID and primary e-mail address.
    b) If you do not have an iphone or ipad - use your computer: Go to sytem preferences > icloud > sign out of account (again you will be given an option to keep contacts on the computer etc. do what is appropriate for you). An iCloud window  should then pop up - and there is an option to 'Create an Apple ID'... follow the steps, in 2nd step (after date of birth input)  go for the free iCloud  option and do not use an existing e-mail address (e.g. hotmail or gmail)... as it then gets more complicated (I did go down this route as I didn't know any better - so I can explain if you wish to know - just ask) - continue with the steps and you will get a new me.com AppleID and primary e-mail address.
ii) Now assuming you have an itunes account and other devices... and you will want to sync everything across devices... then ensure you log back into your OLD account and use this as your main  account on all devices. This will keep all things synced between devices with no problems.
iii) To get your new e-mail account active go to all your devices and computer and just add the new me.com address as another account:
    a) on iphone and ipad: settings > mail, contacts, calendars > "add account"
    b) on computer assuming you use mail: Mail>preferences>account information> hit the '+' under the left hand account box and fill in the details... You will then effectively have two mail boxes running in mail - your previous and new one. What I have noticed is that you can drag and drop (which will copy) mailboxes you created in your old account into your new account - which is great as you can keep the stored messages to hand and effectively you can taper down use of the old account (or use as you wish) over time and eventually not notice the old account is in the background.
Hey presto you have a new e-mail address AND your devices are syncing itunes, photostream etc...
    4) So - much better option....
    i) create a new Apple ID as per point 3i) above.
ii) go back to www.myinfo.apple.com, change your country as required and click on manage your account. Log-in with old ID. Under Apple ID and primary e-mail adress - click edit and now insert your new me.com Apple ID. This will now be both your ID and primary e-mail address. This is where my knowledge (gleaned from this Forum) stops on this option - as unfortunately it did not apply to me. But I think it will get you where you want!
Hope all this info helps rather than hinders!! It definitely would have helped me
    Enjoy.

  • HT204053 I need to change my i cloud e-mail address to the same one I set up when I purchased my apple account I just created an I cloud address and when Ijust read the set up for I cloud it says  I should use the same e-mail address that I started with H

I did not know that when I created a e-mail address that I was suppose to use the same one that I created when I first signed up with Apple I phone. I want to change my e-mail address to the one I first had How can I change it? I do not need two e-mail accounts It should have read that when you are setting up an e-mail address use the one that you first signed up with. Not after you go through all the set ups for I cloud it tells you at the end to use your account that you first started with. Can you please help me I am new at this and I still can not set up on my computer with my phone to I cloud so if I had my phone stollen I can find it I also have and I pad to set up yet It is 3 days and I still can not set it up
Thank You and Hoplefully I can change my e-mail address so I can have everything on one account

If you selected open a new Apple ID account, go back a step and enter use existing Apple ID.
You will have to set up a separate iCloud account or your iPads will mirror each other.

  • Can I have more than one e-mail address attached to my apple account?

I can't seem to create different FaceTime accounts using different e-mail addresses but with 1 Apple account. My daughter's IPod is attached to my Apple account, but I want to use her e-mail address for her FaceTime app. Any thoughts?

how do i sign up for a new e-mail address @icloud or @me; and can I have more than one e-mail address?
You create an @icloud.com address in the first place by signing into Settings>iCloud with your Apple ID and choosing an addres - you can only create an @icloud.com address, not @me.com.
Then if you want further addresses on the same account you can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account or move it to another account.

  • Add E-mail Address to Address Book

    Hi,
I'm having some trouble with situations like this:
I have somebody in my address book, and I have his mobile number only. He sends me an e-mail, which I receive in Mail for OS X. I want to add this e-mail address to the existing card in Address Book. But when I click on the e-mail address in Mail, and the drop-down menu comes up, the only options I can see are:
    Copy Address
    New Message
    Open in Address Book
    Create Smart Mailbox
    Spotlight, "First Name Last Name"
Choosing, "Open in Address Book" opens that card in Address Book, but doesn't add the e-mail address in question to it! Does anybody know how to do what I am trying to do? It is something that should be simple!

I understand that they are two different pieces of software. I just meant that they were coded by people who adhere to the same philosophy when it comes to functionality.
What, then, is the purpose of the "Open in Address Book" command? If Joe Smith sends me an e-mail, and I click on his e-mail address and select "Open in Address Book" from the drop down menu, it will open Address Book and show me Joe Smith's card with his existing mobile number. But it won't add the e-mail address I just clicked on to that card. That seems asinine to me. I suppose this cuts down on a few of those six steps, but it is ridiculous that I still have to manually enter the e-mail address once I get to the card.

  • Firefox shows my outdated e-mail address when forwarding

I was trying to forward a petition to other people to sign, but Firefox shows an outdated e-mail address, which I can no longer access because I'm not paying for the service. I have tried overriding the old address with the new one, but it doesn't work. How do I change the default to my current e-mail address?

If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

I'm not techy enough to understand the solution.
    Here's the history:
-- I've used Compuserve for 15 years, but CS doesn't do broadband so I went shopping.
-- I tried Verizon for broadband, and contacted Compuserve to let them know, but also told them I wanted to retain my e-mail address. We set up new billing for that at a reduced rate so that I would not be charged full price for dial-up.
-- Verizon gave me a new e-mail address, which I believe was so I could connect, using dial-up.
-- After a week, I was so disgusted with Verizon that I canceled it, sent all the equipment they had sent back and went back to using Compuserve on dial-up.
-- I then signed up for broadband, using DSL.extreme, and that worked for me. I am still using it today.
-- The problem is, something -- and I'm not sure what -- is still recognizing the now-defunct Verizon e-mail address as my active e-mail address.
-- Even on DSL extreme, I have things set up so that my old Compuserve e-mail address is the active one.
SO -- the questions to editmeister is -- when you refer to a "service provider", to which one are you referring? Based on what I have told you, what would you suggest?
    All help would be appreciated.

  • How to delete old e-mail addresses?

Sorry if this has already been addressed...but since I can't search the forums right now.....
I accidentally typed in an incorrect e-mail address for someone, and actually tried to use it a couple of times. I realized my mistake, and then corrected the e-mail address in my Contacts. Now, when I try to send an e-mail to Tom, when I start to type his name, it still gives me the option of choosing both the bad address, and the correct address. Does anyone know if there is a way to permanently erase the "bad" address? Again, the bad address is no longer anywhere in my contacts. Thanks in advance!

I also have been looking for a way to do this. Calling iPhone support didn't yield any answers.

All pretty much say the same thing. I know doing a restore would work, but that seems pretty overkill for a mistyped email address, right?
On the other hand... if it gets rid of this frustration...
