Login to iTunes, go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauhtorise all five, and then re-authorize your current Computers one at a time.

If you have access to all the computers involved you can deauthorize each one separately: there is no time limit on doing this.
If you have five computers authorized but don't have access to some of them you can deauthorize them using the 'Deauthorize all' button on your Account page in iTunes. You cannot do this if it less than a year since you previously did this. In that case you could ask iTunes Support as suggest above, though it's probably a lottery whether they will do this for you or not.

Other than not being able to play or sync any purchases other than music until you activate the synching computer again, no, there should be no effect on any iPods or any other iTunes settings.

The page Roger posted is good but was very confusing for me. I'll try to help you out since that article was confusing to me.
In iTunes, Click your name/email that is directly to the left of the search bar.
Click account info.
Sign in.
Click this button where the mouse is:
(the screenshot is from an older iTunes on windows, but it is the same on the new versions)
Done!
You can only use that button once per year, so try to remember to deauthorize computers before you get rid of them.

I had to rebuild a computer. When I got iTunes installed and tried to sync my iPod it said that I had reached my limit of five computers. Are you saying that you have 5 computers authorized to your Apple ID and you want to add another, but you have already use Deauthorize all Computers within the past year? Is that correct? If so, you'll need to contact iTunes Store support directly and ask them to deauthorize all your computers.

De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

This is a tedious solution, which is stupid! And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization. I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? You have to authorize a computer from that computer. You cannot authorize a computer from another computer.

How to "deauthorize all computers" in iTunes?

A computer has died I am attempting to deauthorize all computers in iTunes in order to remove it from the authorized computer list. However, none of the other "authorized" computers display the "Deauthorize All Computers" option on the "Store" menu in iTunes. I am running ITunes 12.0.1.26. Just purchased a new iMac and somehow all of my licenses are consumed between existing/old computers and I am not allowed to synch my iTunes library using Match.
