I want to delete all cookies when I close Firefox except for one website. Is this possible?

I have a website bookmarked that I use frequently and I have set my preferences on the site. I have Firefox set to allow cookies from this site. Is there any provision to delete all cookies except this site when i close Firefox?

There is a plugin for that, search "cookie" on the plugins site and you'll find it.

  • How do I delete all of my history on Firefox except for Download History?

I want to delete my browsing history, cookies and cache but I want to keep my download history, all of it.
I can't remember which version this was, but after updating, I deleted my browser history and noticed my download history was deleted up to a certain point, before the update. The last time I tried, I could delete my cookies and cache and my download history wasn't affected.
I see in the "Clear Recent History" dialog that browsing and download history are consider one thing. It wasn't one thing before.
I want to keep my download history but delete my browser history, cookies, and cache.

Go to '''Options''' window > '''Privacy''' panel > in '''History''' session click '''Use custom setting for History''' > '''Clear history when Firefox closes''' then Settings button is active click it and then click everything '''except Download history or other things you want to keep it '''> click '''OK''' to save it, exit firefox and restart it.
    thank you

  • I want to add a message when I close firefox reminding me not to forget my memory stick

I'm using the latest version of firefox portable on a USB memory stick. It is a fresh install today. I work in different places and I'm worried about leaving my memory stick behind. I was hoping there was some way of adding a notification when I close firefox reminding me to remove my memory stick. I have searched the add on site and forums but cannot find an answer.
Is there an add on that might help?
Can I change the text of the "are you sure you want to close firefox" notification to something else?

For Windows computers, write a batch file. The first line would start Firefox.
The rest of the batch should be your reminder. Add a '''Pause''' command
at the end of the batch, or the message will just flash and disappear.
If you want some guidance on this, just ask.

  • How can I keep a cookie for a certain site when I have set Firefox to delete cookies when I close the browser?

I have set Firefox to delete all cookies when I close the browser. Some websites identify my computer with a cookie, so when I try to log in to these sites, they don't recognize my computer because the identifying cookie has been deleted. I understand that Internet Explorer has a feature that preserves specified cookies, but haven't been able to find that capability in Firefox. Is there a way to do it?

Let all cookies expire when you close Firefox.
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
Make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
You can inspect and modify the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences" (Site Preferences includes the cookie exceptions)
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies that have an allow exception.

You should get a Firewire connected hard drive and backup your MB's HD to it. That way, if something goes wrong during the installation, you can recover your current sytem, apps and files. After the SL install, you can use the external HD for frequent backups.

  • Firefox doesn't delete my cookies when I clear all history.

When I go to options and clear all history (everything, all boxes checked), firefox does not delete my cookies because I am still logged into accounts. Not too sure about deleting all my history and cache either.
Is there a setting I am missing that bypasses certain accounts from getting deleted?

Is this about "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies when you close Firefox?
If you leave tabs open when you exit Firefox then Firefox stores the cookies in sessionstore.js as part of the session data.
You can set the <b>browser.sessionstore.privacy_level</b> pref to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS) on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable saving cookies via session restore.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar

  • I want to delete all the data

I have to sale my MacBook and before delivery I want to delete all the data. Howwwwwwwwwww ?..

First, go to  > About this Mac and see Version. If it's 10.6, 10.5 or your Mac came with DVDs:
    1. Insert the Mac OS X DVD that came with your Mac and press C key while your Mac is starting.
    2. Open Utilities > Disk Utility, choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the disk.
    3. Install Mac OS X. When the installation finishes, turn off the computer. Remember to give the DVDs to the owner.
If it's 10.8, 10.7 or your Mac didn't come with discs:
    1. Press Command, Option and R keys while your Mac is starting and open Disk Utility.
    2. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.
    3. Install OS X. When the installation finishes, turn off the computer

For some websites that I visit every day, it is a pain to have to log in every time. (e.g., Zap2it, which provides TV listings in your local area). However, I like setting Tools/Options/Privacy to keep all cookies until I close Firefox. I would like to be able to configure Firefox so that all cookies would be removed EXCEPT those I specify. If I could do this, I would not have to log in every time.

You can't use [[Clear Recent History]] if you want to keep specific cookies by setting an exception.
"Clear Recent History" is all or nothing.
You can let the cookies expire if you close Firefox if you need to preserve specific cookies.

  • Why does Firefox try to launch Adobe and/or Quicktime when I close Firefox? What is it loading into those programs?

When I shut down Firefox, it tries to start Either Adobe Reader, Quicktime, or both. It has done this ever since the first time I installed an used version 4. The applications do not actually launch, as in a window opening, but they are then present as a process in the system, and I have to close them from the Task Manager. It usually launches just one, but, if it's trying to launch one, and I use Task Manager to close it, it then launches the other. If I hurry and stop that one, Firefox reports that it messed up, and wants me to keep using the Internet for its own purposes that have nothing to do with what I was using the Internet for. This never happened under previous versions of Firefox. Do I need to revert to a previous version? I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security, and it shows I have no malware or the like on my computer, which could cause this. So, why is Firefox trying to do things I did not ask it to, and then expecting me to let it phone home to tell about it when I stop it. By the way, out of good practice, I often close down my Internet connection before closing Firefox, (in case I do get something like a Key Logger loaded, to prevent it from sending its final report before the cache is cleared), but this also happens when I have not yet closed my Internet connection before closing Firefox, so I do not think that is the issue, nor should it be. Your question below about when it happens does not provide for the answer "Every time Firefox Closes", so I picked the closest such answer.

This can be caused by clearing the cookies via [[Clear Recent History]].<br />
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
You can try to exclude the cookies to test that.<br />
You can let all cookies expire when you close Firefox to remove unwanted cookies and keep the ones with an allow exception.
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
If you use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the cookies when you close Firefox then Firefox also tries to clear the cookies from plugins like Flash and starts a plugin-container process for each plugin and possibly for each cookie (?) and that can add extra time if there are a lot of cookies to remove and also can cause an unresponsive script error to appear.

  • When i close firefox (normally click red X) i always see an very brief image of a previous screen as well as the one i just closed. This is only since new version downloaded.

As the questions says: when i close the screen using the red X i always see a very brief image of a previous webpage. This has only been since i downloaded the latest version of firefox.
I have no idea if it is harmful to my system. It seems to be constant each time i close firefox.

I am rebuilding my iTunes library, but still have all the old content on my iPod Classic.  I have just download some songs from the iStore and want to add them to the iPod, BUT when I try to sync it asks if I want to delete all content from the iPod and add only the material that I have just downloaded from the Store.  I do not want to lose my old content, because it is very extensive.

You are trying to sync to other than the one iTunes library you can sync to. You can copy music from multiple library/computer if you use the manual method of syncing. That method is described here
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
If you want to make this computer/iTunes library your syncing computer/library you have to restore the iPod on this computer/library. Restoring erases the iPod.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
To copy other music to the computer see:
