I want to disable Firefox as my browser.

I want to disable Firefox as my browser/server.

Hello,
I understand you want Firefox not to be your default browser.
Quickest way is to install a new browser (eg. Chrome, IE9) at the end of installation you are asked to make this new browser as default, just accept.
Hope that helped,

• Disable firefox as default browser

I have designated chrome as my default browser. When pages open through links (i.e. mail). They still open in Firefox. I have researched several methods of disabling Fx as default browser, and none of them work.
FYI, I changed to chrome because of Fx constant freezes and crashes, disappearing user bars and slowness of operation, and most of all the installation of bing on the toolbar with no way to get rid of it. Chrome does not have these problems.

1. Uninstall Firefox which takes few seconds
2. Install with Custom settings and when you are selecting the path where Firfox has to be installed, uncheck "Make Firefox as my default browser".
This should solve the problem.

• Want to use Firefox as my Browser, can i?

I am trying to install Mozilla Firefox as my 'Web Browser' to use with Google as my search engine, and have been unable to get it done. I use Internet Explorer & windows 7 laptop.

Hello
> I have downloaded Firefox but when I click to open it I get the hourglass icon for a while but eventualy it goes away and nothing happens.
Does this mean you cant start the Firefox installation or open Firefox like Internet Explorer?
As Timox wrote I think you should contact Mozilla Firefox support. Who knows why the program doesnt start
By the way and what you can try:
Download and install Firefox again, maybe its only a corrupt file and make sure that no firewall and AntiVirus is blocking the installation.
Good luck! :)

• I want to disable firefox sync using lockpref

how do i lock the firefox sync using lockpref?
do you have a good recommendation for reference to lock down firefox option?

Try to lock the server URL (services.sync.serverURL) and other Sync URLs to empty strings.
Then it is impossible to connect to the server.

• How do you disable / remove / block private browsing in ios 8

I want to disable / block / remove private browsing from my iPhone 5 on iOS 8.1.2. I heard from a friend that you can type in a password somewhere in settings to do this which would be ideal. Any help would be much appreciated!

It took a while I had to follow a hunch. Go to settings> general> restrictions> set a restriction passcode and write it down> scroll down to websites> limit adult sites> on. Besides blocking private you can't erase Safari history when you have websites resrictions. See before and after below.

• Can't Make Firefox My Default Browser

I like Safari just fine but I want to make Firefox my default browser, OK? OK. Good.
Now then, how do I tell Safari to STOP being my default browser?
I have Firefox installed on the Mac and in its preferences, it thinks it's the default browser.
So I went to Safari's preferences to make sure it doesn't still think IT's the default browser, but it does. So I went to the "general" tab under preferences. I see "Safari" as the default browser. I click the drop-box to choose a different application. Only "Firefox" is not listed anywhere among the applications.
I installed Firefox from one of those "hard drive" like icons on my desktop. It runs fine from an icon in the dock. But near as I can tell, it's not listed among the applications on "Macintosh HD/Applications" directory. I suspect getting it listed there is going to be the first step in solving my default browser problem.
So, what do I have to do to get "Firefox" listed among my applications, and then what else do I have to do to get it to be the default browser?
Thanks,
--PS

No problemo, sorry about that.
There is also a "Firefox.dmg" file on my desktop... I can tell that's not a .app, but... what is it exactly?
The .dmg file is a disk image file. That is the format a lot of programs you download will be in. Some open by themselves to reveal the .app file some you have to double click.
Double click on the firefox.dmg file. That should bring up a window that has a file called firefox.app. Right click with your mouse if you have one and drag it to the applications folder in your finder window.
If you do not use a mouse put your cursor over thefirefox.app file. Now hold down the trackpad button and the ctrl key. Now you can use the trackpad to drag the file to the applications folder and drop it there.
I prefer to not have any programs on the desktop. I like to use the dock to hold my favorites. Then the ones I don't use very often I just open from the applications folder.

The drop-down list displays items from your History and/or Bookmarks.
You can control what shows (or nothing at all): Options > Privacy, "Location Bar" section. Options are:
*History and Bookmarks
*History
*Bookmarks
*Nothing

• I want to disable Private Browsing ,but under Safari there is no such application. Where do I find it or is ther a different application I have an Apple iphone 4

I want to disable Private Browsing which should appear under Safari ,but there is no such application. I have an iphone 4 Apple. Is there an alternative way to disable

You can set the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes
You can open the about:config page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue

• How do I delete/disable the "Start Private Browsing" option in the Firefox Button/Menu?

I do not want the option for private browsing on this computer. Please help me make it go away! I have Firefox 6.0. Thanks.

This extension disables Private Browsing, hides all the PB menu items and disables the keyboard controls, disables the clearing of browsing history, and the extension doesn't appear in the Add-ons except for the Firefox SafeMode.
• I want to disable plugins, which i can do through add-ons manager, but every time i restart firefox they are enabled again

When i disable plugins firefox runs faster. I could uninstall the plugins, but i periodically want to use them. I have tried using click to play but i want some plugins to run automatically.
I want to disable selective plugins and have some enabled. When i do this via add-ons manager, all plugins are enable on restarting firefox.

i don't use any cleanup tools & MSE is my security software, which is rather unobtrusive and shouldn't interfere here...
i currently have one blocklisted plugin (see screenshot), but if i remember it correctly the problem was already present in my case before i had the outdated acrobat plugin installed.
sometimes when you enable/disable a plugin in the addons manager & press f5 afterwards, it immediately switches back to its old state/sometimes it will stay on the new state until a restart of the browser & in some cases it will remember the state even across sessions - it's just not working reliably in any way.
as far as i can observe the pluginreg.dat file in my profile folder the change of a plugin's state isn't written to the file as soon as it's toggled in the UI during a session, but only when the browser is getting closed - so the information has to be in the memory somewhere before and might be getting corrupted. i suspect it might be a general bug but i cannot reproduce it reliably .

I want to use Firefox for a specific webpage and Safari for the rest of my browsing. I have an Apple macbook and am very new to Firefox

I thought my response was clear, but to reiterate:
1. 10.5.1.42
2. None, nada, zero, zilch. I have no iPhone account with any carrier. There is a deactivated ATT sim card in the3 phone. Someone gave it to me. I only want to use it as an iPod Touch.
3. PC with Windows 7 (I can offer more detailed info, but I am not sure how that would help.
I had already read that link. Reset did not resolve (both hard and soft)

• I want to disable the feature that goes to the last site looked at when I click open Firefox from my desktop.

I just upgraded to Firefox 4 on my two laptops, but I'm only having this problem with one of them. When I click on Mozilla Firefox on my desktop, it immediately takes me to the last site I was on. I want to disable this feature so that it goes right to my homepage.
