I want to disable my integrated graphics card.

Hi, i have a very frustrating issue with my notebook, which is, i use it mainly for gaming. (didnt have a choice on the pick, i won the computer at a lan event in portugal). I thought that the graphics card was broken for several reasons, but i have since then called HP support and they told me that infact its the computer that decides in the end which display adapter is used, even when i have selected for it to do otherwise(its selected to run the NVIDIA graphics card, but according to hp support even when i have chose it to do this its still selecting the wrong one.). If i disable the intel hd4000 on the device manager and try to go on the nvidia control panel, it says that i dont have a display adapter connected, if i enable it and go on the control panel, it doesnt show half the options it should (no resolution change, no digital vibrance change). So i asked hp support if i could disable intel hd4000 entirely and he said i couldnt unless i downloaded a specific BIOS online, which is why im here. Im done playing with 50-60 fps on a 4 year old videogame which i play on the lowest settings and near the lowest resolution, so, if you could point me out the version that allows me to disable my intel hd4000 graphics card so that my laptop only uses the NVIDIA graphics card, that would be great. If the low fps problem persists, then i will at least know that the computer is just horrible for gaming, if it doesnt, then great, i was right about it never using the nvidia card in the first place.
Thank you in advance.

Hi @RicardoAlmeida ,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to  help!
I grasp that you are having an issue with your switchable graphics and HP support referred you to a bios update.
You can run the HP Support Assistant  to aid with HP updates.  Here is a link to the HP ENVY dv6-7300sp Notebook PC Drivers where there is a bios update if it has not been done previously. Updating the BIOS.   As a bios update does have the potential to cause damage, I suggest contacting HP support for assistance.
As you do have switchable graphics I believe this document is the one you require, It will help you configure your graphics.

So I couldn't activate Assassin's Creed 3 on bootcamp which I shuold have been able todo. I posted it on Ubistoft Support and This is what I got!
    Hello ,
It looks like your DXDiag report is showing only an integrated graphics card. Being an Apple computer with an i7, it should have a dedicated video card as well. You may need to contact Apple support so they can help you either disable the integrated graphics card or update any software they use that will aid the computer in switching between the two graphics chips.
So I was wondering how I could disable the intergrated grahics card or update any software that will aid the ocmputer in switching between the two graphic chips.

The Early 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro has only got one graphic card, and this is the integrated card, Intel HD Graphics 3000.
Some games don't support this type of GPUs, and it looks like Assassin's Creed is one of them, so unfortunately, you can't run the game in this MacBook

  • No DVI output with T420 on integrated graphics card and Mini Dock Series 3

Because of some application problems I have to set my new T420 to only use the integrated graphics card (disabling the NVidia Optimus feature). In this configuration I seem to be unable to use the DVI port on the Mini Dock Series 3, there is simply no signal and Windows reports that no monitor could be found. The VGA output works but the picture quality is quite bad.
Is this a known design limitation or do I deal with a driver issue?
    Thanks
    Dan

Yes, that works but there is the drawback of battery life. In the course of the day I often undock the laptop to go to meetings and using the discreet graphics card uses a lot more power and significantly reduces the time i can work without power. I would have to restart the laptop and change the setting in the BIOS after I undock, which is just not practical. For what I do I don't need the graphics power of the discreet card.

  • Hi there. I am in the process of choosing a laptop to load elements 11 on.Putting minimum requirements aside, is there any advantage in getting a dedicated as opposed to an integrated graphics card, would it run faster on an i5 as opposed to an i3 process

Hi there. I am in the process of choosing a laptop to load elements 11 on.Putting minimum requirements aside, is there any advantage in getting a dedicated as opposed to an integrated graphics card, would it run faster on an i5 as opposed to an i3 processor and does a screen resolution of more than 1024 x 768 make any diference in elements 11? What should I be looking for to enable elements 11 to work efficiently without over specing? thanks folks !

PSE doesn't make big demands on the graphics card, but you want a screen that is at least 800 px tall to be able to use all the features. Some things, like the raw converter, may not appear at less than that.

  • MSI GT60 Always Runs On Integrated Graphics Card

Hello everyone. Not sure if this question was asked before. But i cant get my new laptop to run on nvidia graphics. Was playing Heroes of Newerth today and realised i was getting 45 fps only. So i lowered the graphics. The fps raised up to 80. I didnt think the gtx770M should be this weak so:
i disabled the integrated graphics from device manager and re-ran the game. This time fps was awfully less. Like 10-15 fps.
I disabled nvidia graphics to make it run on integrated graphics. Re-ran thegame again i got like 80 fps. So im pretty sure the computer is running on integrated graphics card.
I configured stuff on nvidia control panel. Set preferred gpu to Nvidia Graphics Processor. Still it doesnt seem to help. Fps is around the same level.
I reinstalled the drivers from the laptops own cd. No help either. I also did a clean install. So its not about the installation either.
Couldnt find any way to change the default gpu on bios. The laptop also came with windows 8 64 bit
    The system is -
    i7-4700mq processor
Nvidia gtx770M gpu with 3gb memory.
    16 gb 1600 mhz ddr3 ram
250 gbsuperraid ssd. 750 gb 7200 rpm for storage
Anyone else experienced the same problem? Or anyone knows how to fix this?

I have tried that too. Then I got the error "this driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I looked it up and tried a few other things. But then I ended up with a blinking black screen with rebooting. Now i restored everything and lost all my date. The computer is back to its former slow self. I don't know what to do. When i alt + tab from a game and return to it. The fps is almost twice as high. Then it quickly drops down to 40s again. I cant install the latest drivers either.
    you have some mess

  • GE620DX - utility an integrated graphics card

Hello, new MSI notebook user here. I've got my notebook last week and I'm experiencing 2 major problems.
And before you ask, yes I've read the stickies and used the search option.
    1. My function keys, and therefore my webcam, my Wi-Fi card and other controls can't be used/turned on. I've installed everything on the CD and nothing seems to work. I've chcecked on MSI.com in the download section but it's pretty much the same I have on the CD. What should I do, where should I download these utilities from?
    2. The integrated graphics card from Intel. I can't run some games because of it (eg. Orcs Must Die!) or get low/unstable framerates (eg. League of Legends, Starcraft II). I know it's a notebook but since it's being sold as a gaming device and sports a pretty decent GPU from Nvidia I reckon this shouldn't happen, especially on 1-2 year-old games. Anyway, I can't disable it from Windows (it turns off the display) or BIOS (don't see such an option). Again, what should I do, how do you solve this?
    Thanks in advance

I know this is an old thread but he might still need help.
    1. This is working fine for me, just download the latest updates from MSI's homepage, also use flash the latest BIOS and Firmware, there is a guide on the MSI homepage to. The drivers on the CD is outdated.
    2. You can't disable the intel graphics, but you can choose wich graphic card to use on the games. You can rightclick on the games shortcut or the .exe launcher. Then you select Use graphic processor -> Nvidia high performance.
You can also enter nvidia graphics panel by right clicking on your desktop, in here you go 3D-settings -> Program settings. Just add the game, for example League of Legends, and choose always run with Nvidia high performance. Then the intel graphics wont bother you.
    Hope this helps.
    Yours,
    Blix

  • Repeated error from Intel integrated Graphics card in my brand-new B320

    Hi
I am getting repeated errors from the Intel Integrated Graphics card (on the Intel i3 chip as I understand it) in my brand-new B320.
I checked via a tool from Intel that my drivers were up-to-date (version 15.22.1.2361).
I checked via Device Manager Update Drivers that my driver was up-to-date.
I attempted to uninstall and re-install my driver BUT the uninstall reverted me to a VGA Adapter (so my screen was then running in a low res 800x600 mode!) and I could not even then see the Intel Integrated Graphics card in Device Manager to be able to re-install the driver against (even if I ran scan for new hardware): I had to restore to a System Restore Point - so the problem has of course come back.
I have even had one error where the screen then went completely blank and nothing would bring it back: I had to power off the PC (Ouch!)
PLEASE advise how I rectify this incredibly frustrating problem step-by-step.

    hey johnestlea,
i was going through the download list of the B320 here : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=156819
And could not find any driver with the version 15.22.1.2361 for the Intel Integrated Graphic Card. Where did you get that version ?

  • As through the bios to disable the integrated graphics?

    Hello.
as through the bios to disable the integrated graphics in the laptop HP pavilion 17 e-011sr? or tell me the firmware for the bios on this model with switchable graphics

    Hi timon20025,
    Thank you for your query.
If there is not an option in the bios to disable the integrated, then it is not possible.
The latest bios is Version F.31, 9.16M, which you can get from HP Pavilion 17-e011sr Notebook PC Drivers page.
Here is a link to Updating the Bios for your convenience.  I suggest contacting HP for the Bios update as it does have a potential to cause damage.

  • Is a dedicated graphics card better than an integrated graphics card for running Logic Pro?

I am trying to figure out if a dedicated graphics card is better than an integrated graphics card for using Logic Pro. I have heard opinions supporting both. From what I have been told a Mac mini with an integrated graphics card would work just fine. I have also heard that a modest dedicated graphics card could also benefit Logic Pro. Honestly, I have heard more people saying that the integrated graphics card on the Mac mini would do the job. But still, I have heard a couple people (even 2 senior Mac experts) state that a dedicated graphics card (iMac) is the way to go. Maybe a Mac mini with integrated graphics card will do the job, but an iMac would do the job better, I don't know, if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

One thing is Logic Pro and another thing is Final Cut Pro. Logic Pro is a music production app, so it doesn't use the GPU heavily and you can use it with an integrated GPU without any problem. However, video editing apps like Final Cut Pro or iMovie will note the difference

  • G580 disable integrated graphics card

    Hi.
How can I make my laptop (G580) use just the dedicated graphics card ?  In BIOS I only have the options "Switchable graphics" and "UMA". I understood the latter stands for the integrated card.
    Thanks.

  • Nvidia x Integrated graphics card

Hello, I would like to ask you, if I lose my Nvidia I still able to use the laptop with Integrated graphic only? Thanks.

    hi luizcanguini,
Looking at your previous posts, are you referring to the IdeaPad Z710 model? If yes and the  Z710 came with an Intel+Nvidia GPU then this uses the Nvidia Optimus technology to switch between the Integrated and discrete graphics.
I don't have a Z710 here with me for testing but ideally, there's an option in the BIOS to switch between UMA (Integrated Graphics) and Optimus (switchable graphics). In event that the Nvidia GPU is showing signs of failure, you can boot into the BIOS and temporarily disable the Nvidia GPU by changing the Graphic Device to UMA and still be able to use the laptop using the Integrated graphics.
Alternatively, you can also disable the Nvidia GPU under the Device Manager.

  • I want to upgrade my Qosmios graphics card from GeForce GTX 670M to GeForce GTX 780M?

    Hi!
    I have a TOSHIBA Qosmio X875-Q7390.
Its graphics card which is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M 3GB GDDR5 dedicated has broken down.
Since I need to replace it, I'd like to upgrade it.
To GeForce GTX 780M. Or even maybe to GeForce GTX 970M.
What do you say? Can I?
    Thanks.

    Hymans123, welcome to the forum.
Is this the video card that you want to buy?  If so, it should fit.  The length is 8.58".  You can make a template the size of the card to assure that it will fit with room for good airflow.
There is one caveat, however.  Many of the GTX 750 series video cards require a UEFI BIOS to operate.  You can get this information from the manufacturer.

  • Want to add Video and Graphic Card to my computer system

I Notice that one of the users' in the Apple discussion Board is Listed, (AndyO) he has help me many times in the Past and was succesful in my problrm solution, would he might be able to help me with this?
I had Purchased the Game Spore Creature Creator the Starter Kit which is just the Creature creator game and not the actual game itself. I wasn't able to install the the game on my computer because I don't have the right or not at all Video and Graphic Card install on my computer. I had Contacted the Company "EA" that puts out the Game Spore, this is what they said what the game requirements are: The minimum system requirements for Spore and Spore the Galactic Edition for Mac are as follows:
    * Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher
    * Intel Core Duo Processor
    * 1024 MB RAM
    * At least 345 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. (260 MB for the Trial Edition)
    * Video Card - ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems (PowerMac).
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least: an Intel Integrated Chipset GMA X3100 or Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
    Supported Video Cards
    ATI Radeon(TM) series
    * X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600
    NVIDIA GeForce series
    * 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800
    Intel(R) Extreme Graphics
    * GMA X3100
and that I need to upgrade my system. Basically I need; ATI Radeon 1600 or NVIDIA Geforce 7300 and a INTEL Extreme Graphic Video Card-GMA X3100, in order to be able to install and play this game. Since I already have this game, I would like to be able to upgrade my computer system which brings me to ask; does somone know or refer me to a web site that has and sells these Video and Graphic Card and supports for the Mini Mac?
Plus they say that I need a 1020 of MB of Ram, I Have already found that 1024 MB of Ram but I just need those Video and Graphic Cards for my computer system. I am adding my computer system Profile to my discussion board to show you what I have on my system, would you be able to tell me if I would be able to add these Video and Graphic card and the memory or Ram 1024 to my computer system?
Note: Here is a web site that I am looking at to add the 1024 MB of Ram to my computer system:

    Hi Trisha,
The only modern Mac's with video cards are the Mac Pro and Xserve (server) systems. They both are priced quite a bit higher than any Mac Mini.
Some systems, like the Mac Book Pro laptop can be ordered with different graphics cards, but that has be done when the system is built, as it is not replaceable once the system is built. To find out which systems, go to store.apple.com. For each system that you select, you can see if there's an option for a better video card.

  • Disable on board graphics card

How can I disable the on board graphics card on my P&-1227c? I am trying to install an new video card and it keeps coming up blank but when I take it out everything works agian. It came with Windows 7 installed so I do not have the secure boot configuration in my BIOS. My BIOS is the 7.7 version for the Jasmine motherboard. Is there a new version I can download?

Thank you for the additional information.
I have reviewed the specs of the video card.  It appears to require a minimum of 400W.  Your new PSU should take care of the problem.  Corsair sells very good products.
The only BIOS updates that will work with HP motherboards are those provided by them.  None of the retail versions will work properly.

  • Dv6-2160ec integrated graphics card

Is there any way to use ingegrated graphics card in this notebook? For example by switching it in BIOS?
Does the notebook supports HybridPower(switching between integrated and dedicated graphics card while running)?
    Thank you for your answer.
