I want to do a clean Dreamweaver CS3 install

Beacuse of the problems I am experiencing http://forums.adobe.com/message/4995751#4995751 I want to do a clean instal with no history. No matter how much I go through deleting files after the deactivation and uninstall I find then when I install DW CS3 it still references all my old setting including all my site settings in manage sites.
I appreciate that I will have to set everything up again but how do I get a virgin install?
Thanks in advance,
Simon
PS The insert link script isn't working properly.

When I ran that program it told me I didn't have any product installed.
You need to install your CS3 again so that it is on your system  After installing the package, run the tool so that it can find your adobe products.  It should work because i have used it many times when removing trial versions that I don't intend to buy.
Good luck.

  • Trouble with Dreamweaver CS3 Install

Greetings all. I installed Dreamweaver CS3. After this, I had
a system problem (unrelated) to which I had to do a system restore
which went back to before Dreamweaver CS3 was installed.
I now want to install The Web Premium CS3, but the install
says I can't install Dreamweaver because of a conflict. There is no
uninstall (in control panel) for Dreamweaver CS3 and there are not
even any EXE files in it's folders (product of System Restore I am
    guessing?)
How can I get this uninstalled so I can install the entire
    package?
    Thanks for the help!!

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Install

I am rebuilding my system with XP SP3. Installed Photoshop
CS4. Now am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 vrom DVD, and it
fails. Shared components go in fine, but that's all. I need to make
a custom installation to a different drive. That option is not
shown in the standard installation sequence.
    Any help appreciated.

What error(s) are you getting on the fail?
Depending on the issue you may want to check out Adobe's
support section here and submit a ticket. They will allow you to
upload files to them like the installer log to see what the problem
is. Just remember that it is a holiday weekend and the new year
weekend is right around the corner so there may be a delay with
    their basic support response.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Install on Vista Home Prem

    Hi there
I have just got a new laptop with Vista Home Premium
installed and I have attempted to install Dreamweaver CS3. The
first day it seemed to work fine until I got a message stating that
registration had failed catestrophically. It then shut down and I
was unable to run it since.
I have uninstalled the program, checked that all previous
installs had been unregistered and Installed again.
When I double click to run the application I get the little
circle icon that I guess replaces the egg timer in vista but then
after a second or two it disapears and nothing happens.
I have tried to uninstal, repair the installation but to no
avail. I even tried setting the clock to before the time change
last month as that caused an issue on the XP install on the old
computer but nothing seems to work - does anyone have any
    ideas?????
I have had a look around the forums but not really came up
    with anything.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks SnakEyez02 .
The Windows restore said that it failed the two times that I
tried it. But after doing this I tried Dreamweaver again and it
seems to be working. The registration has failed again however I am
able to use it. Hopefully one time it wil let the registration
    complete.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Can't run updater 8.0.2 on Dreamweaver CS3 install

I have that FTP user name and password problem where it's
lost every time you re-start the program. Reading this forum I
found that I needed to use the updater 8.0.2. That downloaded fine
and when I tried to run it I got the following message:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows
installer service because the program to be upgraded may be
missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the
program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your
computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
I double checked I downloaded the English version of 8.0.2
and I have the English version
My disk is an upgrade disk which I've also had in the drive
    during the update.
I tried totally uninstalling dreamweaver and then installing
    and doing the update again.
Regardless I get this error, I also get the error with 8.0.1
    updater
    Any suggestions?

Your subject line says you're trying to run this on DW CS3.
    It's already
built in to CS3. The 8.02 updater was for DW 8.

  • Dreamweave cs3 install problem

Currently running DW8 on Windows Vista, I thought I would
have a look at CS3. I downloaded the trial version of DW CS3 and
ran it. After extracting the files, the setup starts ('Initializing
Adobe setup') but then immediately disappears with no messages.
I've tried running as Administrator but the same happens.
A search for a fix has turned up nothing so far. Any ideas
    from anyone would be welcomed.
    Colin.

type the exact error you get into google and see what pops
up. Have you preciously had another version of dreamweaver on your
computer and it was uninstalled by chance? Maybe email adobes
support and let them know. But I am sure someone else has gotten
this error before so if you search google Im sure you will find
your answer. I just downloaded the trial also and didnt get that
message. Google is the best for answers..

  • Help with dreamweaver CS3 install

I am trying to install CS3 on my laptop that does have 512mb
of ram, although it has intigrated graphics so it only reports
~480mb to windows. So i get the ram error while trying to install
the software. Is there any way to force the install??

If you take a look at other posts, you'll find a lot of
    queries about
installation problems with CS3, so you're not in the wrong
    place, but
the lack of replies to your question suggests that nobody has
    the answer.
The CS3 installer is very fussy (to put it mildly). It won't
    install on
systems that don't match the minimum requirements. Even
    though you have
512MB RAM, the system shows only 480, so you fall below the
    threshold.
Unless you can find a way to get the machine to report the
    full amount
of RAM, your only course of action seems to be to install
    more RAM.

if you're using the same computer hardware to reinstall your cs3, you don't need to deactivate first.
but if there's a significant hardware change you can ask adobe support for an activation count reset. contact adobe support by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

  • Need to uninstall Dreamweaver cs3, but don't want to lose my files

Need to uninstall and reinstall Dreamweaver cs3.  How do I do that without losing my files?  I only have one website and a couple of dozen files related to it.Dreamweaver support forum

Your files are in a separate folder on your computer, not in the DW folder, so they should be safe.
If your site is live, your files are also on the server, and can be downloaded later if necessary.
DW simply allows you to edit those files by means of your site definition which tells DW where to find those files. Before uninstalling DW, export your site definition (an STE file) to a safe place on your computer for later import into your next DW installation.
Use the cleaner tool before installing your new DW.

Dreamweaver CS3 creates "_notes" directories. I don't want the "_notes" directories. How do I configure DW CS3 to not create those directories?

No, it makes no difference to Run-time styling.
A design-time stylesheet is a stylesheet that is only applied to the page as you are working in DW. This is very handy if you have elements on the page which are normally hidden/visible and you want to toggle that visibility while in Design view. Or when you have content that is styled in a way that DW doesn't understand, but the browsers do - you can use a DT stylesheet to modify this styling in Design view only. I'll give you an example -
There is a metric that is used for font sizing called "rem". A rem is a relative em value - in other words, it specifies the ratio between the actual character size and the size of a base definition for the character size on the page. In previous versions of DW, this metric was not supported. So text content was abnormally large as a result when looking at a page using Design view. A DT stylesheet solves that problem by redefining the character size in px, but only when I am working in DW. Here's a good explanation (http://www.css-tricks.com/rems-ems/)
You also will lose (I believe) details about which files have been recently synched, and some of your local settings for guides and snap to guides.

A google search of the problem suggested it may be an error related to the number of times I can reinstall this product due to licensing issues.  Please help.

Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.

  • DW 8 Templates in Dreamweaver CS3

    Greetings,
I am currently working with a Dreamweaver template (Version
    8) and I have recently installed Dreamweaver CS3 to check it out. I
wanted to update several pages with the updated template in CS3,
but when I tried, I got an error related to nested editable
regions. I checked out my code, and cleaned it up (it is strict
xhtml 1.0) and tried again. I didn't get the error, but none of the
pages are updated. Does somebody know why this could happen?

If you have made changes to a template page and those changes
    are not
propagated to the respective child pages then only one of two
    possibilities
    exist:
    1. Your changes were made to EDITABLE regions in the template
    files, or
    2. The site cache is corrupted, and can be fixed by using
    SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site Cache
Might one of those be the cause?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 for Mac OS X is slowww!

    Howdy,
I'm a recent Windows to Mac OS X switcher, and won't turn
back... but I am finding it hard to get use to Dreamweaver CS3 on
OS X as its coder view is so clunky and slow?
Tbh I never used Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows, I was an AVID
Homesite user (that will never be beaten in my opinion), but I
purchased a copy of Dreamweaver CS3 (along with Photoshop CS3) when
I switched to mac as I felt that will be the next best thing for a
    ColdFusion Developer like myself.
To a degree I'm not disappointed with Dreamweaver CS3, it
does do everything (nearly) that Homesite done for me, and a few
things more, but they need to improve the performance of the code
view! Homesite was lightning fast, but dreamweaver is slowww. I
mean even hitting return to go to the next line in code view takes
a while to do... it just seems like its waiting for something to
happen all the time. I've disabled ALL features I do not use in
Preferences (mainly all WYSIWYG features and auto-completion etc...
I never used that) but this hasn't improved anything.
I'm on a not fantastic, Macbook Pro 2.16GHz Intel C2D with
2GB Ram, but surely it should perform better than this right? How
about you guys on kickass Mac Pro's... does it do the same?
I'd love to get rid of ALL WYSIWYG features from dreamweaver
as I never use that crap, maybe that will improve performance?
Maybe Adobe can make a "coder" version of Dreamweaver?
Anyone have any ideas how to improve performance? Or am I
lumbered with it running like a dead dog?
    Any help will be appreciated!
    ta

I've been a Mac convert for about 2 years now. Right now, I'm
running DW CS3 on an Intel iMac and it runs beautifully. On my
Powerbook G4 (1.33 GHz PPC G4 and 2 GB of ram) the performance is
slightly lacking. One thing to be wary of with adobe products -
they can be memory hogs. Photoshop is especially notorious for
    this.
Also, the more you have installed on a Mac laptop, the slower
it will run. Mine used to take a few minutes to boot because of all
the programs I had installed, and nothing was starting up with the
machine. After a format and clean install it runs like new.
That is something for you to consider, if you have all the
necessary software to reinstall everything you want. I never turn
off any features in DW and I have only had a few buggy problems.
    Nothing major though.
