My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?
I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked. -
I have a 4S and just tried updating to the latest iOS version and my phone went into recovery mode and iTunes says I need to restore to factory settings. Anyone know how I can fix my phone without losing all my content?
You would only be able to restore to a backup to iCloud or iTunes:
Restore from Backup

I tried updating to the IOS6, there was an error, and now my phone is in recovery mode and i need to restore to factory settings. Is there anything I can do?
You have to restore your iPhone. Same thing happened to me and many others. Sorry man.

I restored to factory settings and when it says to hook up to I tunes it still won't work. I have restarted I tunes and uninstalled and installed and still not working. Help!!!! Before I reset it it would say not charging but it was still charging. This could be a hardware problem with the I pad.
Explain exactly what "it won't work" means. The iPad does not respond at all? Does it turnn on? It is not recognized in iTunes when you connect it to your computer?

The Genius at the Apple Store restored my phone to factory settings. I had backed everything up on iCloud, but he recommended that I don't restore that old backup file since it might bring up the software issue again. I just want to get my photos back. Is there anyway to retrieve them from iCloud without having to restore my phone using my old backup? Or would I have to use the old backup, transfer my photos, and then do another factory restore? Help!
You would have to restore the backup, import the photos to your computer, then restore as new again.

My phone was never added to my iTune devices. Now it is not starting and I am not able to back it up before resetting to the factory settings.
Then you are out of luck with wanting to create a backup for your iPhone first. This could have been done wirelessly with a free Apple iCloud account without needing to use iTunes on your computer to do so. This is similar to not creating a backup for your computer, your computer hard drive crashes and wanting to back up the hard drive before reformatting the hard drive.

I took my iPad back to factory settings through my PC. Everything was recovered except my audio books bought through iTunes. How can I retrieve them?
When you reset, they were wiped out as well. Will need to redownload. Check the Purchased section where they should be found to download without any additional cost.

my iphone 4 is not recognized by itunes when i connect to it and tells me that the phone is in recovery mode, wants me to restore to factory settings. after i agree , an alert with error 9 stopped the sync. the phone wont start
Thanks for the response. There is no cloud icon next to them. All of the songs play on the phone still and no song was purchased through iTunes. I added them manually and tried to remove them manually. According to my iTunes they've been removed but they are still on my phone and working.

my iphone 4 is not recognized by itunes when i connect to it, wants me to restore to factory settings. do i have to or is there a better way to fix it?
Howdy AndieKanaras,
It sounds like your iPhone is being recognized everywhere but in iTunes. I would use the troubleshooting for that issue in the following article, named:
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

Is there an easier way other than restoring to factory settings and starting over?
Open itunes, connect ipod, select what you want, sync.
No need to restore. Just sync. It will erase the current content and replace with the content of the new computer. -
I've update my iPad to iSO6. Now saying connect to iTunes, which is saying my iPad in recovery & to restore to factory stting & all media & data will be ereased. I DOT NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN. What can I do?
You have no choice now. Unless you want a brick for an iPad. After you restore to factory settings you can restore from your backup ..... And you do backup don't you? I would never update the iOS software without backing up first. After you restore from the backup, sync with iTunes again and you should be OK. Assuming that you do sync with iTunes .....
Read this for info on how to restore from the backup.

I want to install a new internal hard drive for my Macbook (13in, Late 2009) and restore to factory settings. However, I want to keep my Mac OS X Snow Leopard., which I downloaded from the app store. How can I restore computer with the updated OS?
What I did on our two computers was partition the hard drive so that both Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion can be used on the computers. This allowed me to be able to retain/use older applications and games on the Snow Leopard partition. This will allow you to do a clean install of Mountain Lion on the newly created partition. The Mountain Lion installer has a button that allows you to select another drive so you don't install it over Snow Leopard. I cleverly name one partition Snow Leopard and the other one Mountain Lion so I wouldn't confuse the two (I never claimed to be smart).
To partition, you need to have sufficient free hard drive space (I suggest 50 GB minimum). Boot off the Snow Leopard DVD or the disks that came with the computer and use Disk Utility to partition your hard drive into two partitions. If you plan to make Mountain Lion your primary OS, then you can reduce the size of the Snow Leopard partition so most of the free hard drive space is available for Mountain Lion. While booted off the disk, you can install Snow Leopard on the partition you want it on.
Restart and download Mountain Lion, remembering to select the correct partition before installing. I would make a copy of the installer and move it out of the Applications folder because the installer self destructs.
After getting all that sorted out, I found that while booted in Mountain Lion I could access the Snow Leopard partition. That allowed me to drag files and applications from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Applications that won't work with Mountain Lion will be grayed out with a slash through them. -
My ipad won't start up. I downloaded iTunes on my pc while my iPad was charging - could this have caused the problem? I don't want to restore to factory settings and lose data. I also recently successfully paired my ipad with a bluetooth keypad. Any ideas or solutions? Thanks, L
FYI, your iPad will charge much faster if you plug it directly into an electrical outlet.
When doing the reset, as Jackkcc suggests, make sure you let go of both buttons fairly promptly after the apple image appears, then wait another 10 seconds or so for the iPad to start up. Note that a reset does not alter any data or settings. -
Want to restore to factory settings but update to Lion as well
Hi techies....can you help me?
My 2009 MacBook pro is still great but is starting a to chug along a little bit.
I want to restore to factory settings (I have the disks) and would then like to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Problem is I purchased Lion through the App Store when it came out and I now get an error message when I try to restore to factor settings with my install the disks because my OS is newer than the one of the disk.
Part II of my question is this....I backed everything up on my time machine today so does that mean if I restore to factory settings and upgrade to a new OS that I'll still be able to access all of my old files from time machine? You could try making a bootable USB key with Mountain Lion, and bypassing your original OS.

How does Apple expect web application developers to test their web apps in both Safari 3 and 4? Or are we just to forget that Safari 3 exists anymore? Do I need to have two macs for this? Seems excessive.
