I want to do Geotagging on my Photographs

Does anyone know a easy way to do this approach using Geotagging and Google maps?

The first place I would look for information is on Google itself: maps.google.com. Go to My Maps and create a new map. Find the location you want to tag on the map, and inserting a placemark. You can then right click and choose "directions to" which will put up the values of the placemark in the directions search fields. Those values should be latitude and longitude. For example, 30.156204,-95.48103
In case you have not already looked it up, here is what Wikipedia says about geotagging: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geotagging
There are formats given for various uses of geotagging.
This may help you on your way. I'm sure others with experience with this will chime in too.

  • How do I update my old MacBook to the newest operating system, but want to clean it out thoroughly first (without losing my data). How should I best go about doing this?

Hi everybody. I have a MacBook that's about five years old. I want to buy the newest operating system so that it runs better (because currently it is struggling), however I would like to clean up all the old software before I do that. I want it to be as clean and new as possible before I buy the new operating system, instead of just downloading it ontop of all of the rubbish I must have accumulated. I also want to keep my data (documents, photographs etc). Would anybody be kind enough to provide me with a step-by-step (can be as concise as you like, depending on how much time/effort you have to explain!) guide as to how I might go about doing this myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank so much guys.

Step number one - Back up all your important data!
Seriously, it sounds like you are working without backups. Don't ever do this. Hard drives fail, it is a fact of life. Don't be one of those who get caught without a backup. An external hard drive, burning it all to DVDs, or online backup will save you frustration and money.
Two - don't expect a new operating system to improve performance. Get the computer running as best as it can before you upgrade. You may need more RAM or a bigger hard drive.

  • I don't need the full package. Is there an easy way to change from the full to photographer's package?

I'm trying to save money and realize that I don't need the full package. I wanted to just change over to photographer's pack with just Lightroom and Photoshop but I seem to be missing the way to do that through my account. Is there an easier way?

  • Wrapping vector label around a photographed bottle

I've designed a label for a soda bottle and now want to wrap it around a photograph of a bottle.  I actually mocked up the label and conducted a photoshoot, but now that I'm looking at it, the colors just don't match (see examples below) - which is why I want to utilize the vector label and slap it over the photograph.
Since I've gone ahead and mocked up the bottle with the  printed wrapper adhered to it, I want the positioning of the vector label to match up to the photographed label as closely as possible - because you can't get any  better perspective than reality.  The bottle was shot as dead on to center as possible, there is only an inkling of a vertical bulge.
This is the screenshot of the entire vector label that was printed and used on the photograph above.  The label overlaps itself by only a several militers for gluing.
So how do I go about wrapping this vector around the photographed bottle in order for it to match?
I've already tried freestyling with Transform > Warp in PS - but its painstakingly hit or miss.  I thought about mapping the vector label around a 3D cylinder of the same diamter of the photographed bottle and placing it over the bottle in PS.  Any other suggestions?
In the future, would taping a grid onto my bottle then photographing and aligning a digital version of the same grid & label be the best workflow?  Such as shown in this tutorial
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In the Layers panel of the 3D layer, you can revel the layer effects (which also has 3D texture maps) by clicking on the triangle at the right. From here, double clicking the name of the texture will open it. Alternatively, you can open the various texture maps inside the 3D panel, by first choosing the material to edit then navigating into the pop-up menus of the properties area.
I see that I actually scaled your artwork beyond the bounds of the cylinder edges to quickly get the artwork centrally placed. It would be better to start with your AI artwork placed into a new document and generate a Cylinder from that layer.
Once you get that created, place it into your image document and using the 3D camera, change the zoom level to affect the perspective (I over zoomed to 300 mm) while at the same time walking the camera back to keep it in frame. Once you have the perspective looking close, use the 3D axis widget with the cylindar mesh selcted, to constrain scale the cylinder to fit your image.
Hopefully this helps. It would be much better to see an animated walk thru but I'm not really setup for that at the moment.
    regards,
    steve

  • How to disable geotagging on 4s

Settings...general...doesn't appear to have a way to disable geotagging (on 4S).  I want to disable geotagging on my photos.

Information that is outdated needs to be updated. The "update" was for those persons with an iPhone 4s that has been updated to iOS6 that want to know how to disable geotagging. It always pays to keep up with the current technology.

  • How to do this in CS5?

Using the free snapseed app I edited this photo but can't figure out how to do it in photoshop to get the same effect. Snapseed saves such small files they're pretty much useless but I love how this looks. It's going to involve using layers to get an HDR effect, but even doing that I can't come up with these results.

    j_riederer wrote:
The only reason I like this effect is because I want to make it into a puzzle and don't want it to look like a photograph. I want it to have a painting kind of quality instead.
You don't have to explain yourself.   Photography is an art form, not a contest, you can do whatever you like.  The ease of digital photography, relatively low cost of equipment these days, and prolific nature of the internet seems to rankle a lot of "hard core photographers" to the point where they need to critique everything, even when one wasn't requested.
As others said, it's a pretty typical pseudo HDR look that is just (over) boosting the shadows and the saturation then applying heavy saturation.  You can play around with curves, saturation, and put on a high pass filter and do it yourself.  Or try something like Topaz Adjust and click through various presets.

On each of your pages you need to add the class="thispage" to your anchor tags.
So the 'About Me' page link looks like below:
    <li><a href="About Me.html" class="thispage">About Me</a></li>
'The Gallery' link on the 'Gallery' page looks like this:
    <li><a href="The Gallery.html" class="thispage">The Gallery</a></li>
Do the same for the 'Studio Work' and 'Contact Us' pages.

They are all quite a subtle grey tone but the one I cannot see is on the 'About Me' page. You just need to bring the grey tone up a few stops.

  • Picture Gallery Help!

    Hey everybody,
I am new to flash and have three seperate but sort - of
related questions that I was hoping you guys could help me answer!
Question 1. In april, I will be putting on a "website" - its
going to be displayed live via a projector onto a projection
screen. for a small student convention, at this convention are
competitions for the students to enter, the students will be
leaving the competition through to doors (door A and door b) What
they (I) want to do is take a photograph of a student as they leave
their competition, ship the photo over to the computer holding all
the files for the site, and then 10-30 seconds after the picture
was taken I want it to be displayed live on the screen. I have the
camera's set, they automatically take a picture and send them to a
file on a computer hooked up via network. What I need is a gallery
that will display pictures randomly from four sources, - 1) stock
photos taken prior to the convention, 2) Pictures from Door A
3)pictures from Door B and 4) Advertisments created prior to the
convention. The first three sources I want to cycle through about
every 20-30 seconds, preferably with a spiffy transition from one
picture to the next with preference (at least in the case of Door A
and B) given to the newest photos taken. The fourth source (the
advertisments) I want to cycle into the gallery every 7-10 minutes
and stay on screen for 1 - 3 minutes. I can give up source 4 if
nescesary, but I would like to have it. All the pictures/ads will
    be the same size.
The gallery doesnt need to be styled on the borders, I need
it to blend and be part of the page, just change images when it
needs to. I will be doing other things at the conference and cannot
baby-sit the flash gallery, is their a way to create the gallery,
and tell it to pull from the sources (call it four folders) and
rotate when needed. I know (but dont know how to make) that the
transitions elements can be set up ahead of time, but what about
    the live image aspect?
Question 2 - Similar to the first, but everything will be
done ahead of time - at another point on the page I want to have
banner ads from our sponsors, I just need a gallery to cycle
through the ads at a predetermined time (i.e Ad 1 stays up for 5
minutes, while Ad 2 stays up for 2 minutes, etc)
Question 3 - Not related to the above website, I have another
page I am developing that I think could greatly benefit from the
coolness of flash. This will be a picture gallery for 2 products,
what I am envisioning is a display area for a large picture,
underneath it 2 tracks of thumbnails, click on track 1 and the
display area shows the big pictures of the thumnails in that track,
click on track 2 and it displays the big pictures of that track. It
would also be cool if it had a zoom feature and a move feature. I
know the images can be loaded in with an xml document (I think I
know this) The site will be using a database with lots of products,
I need to be able to make the XML and flash gallery work with the
database so that it can change thumnails and bigpictures according
to the database info - so when you are on product 1, you see
product 1's thumbs and bigpics. Product 2 - etc.... I can make the
XML dynamic, I just need the flash part, and make sure it pulls the
thumbs from an xml file (or other outside source that can be set to
dynamically get the info) This gallery will be styled and embeded
    into a product template, and
also can't be babysat or created for each product.
I am not against buying a prebuilt option if someone knows
some good ones, I am also not against building it myself if someone
could give me some guidance as to where to go for tutorials, that
    sort of thing.
Thanks for the help everybody, If you need any more info
    please let me know.
    -Adam

What OS version are you running on your phone and who is your carrier? This is something that is controlled by the OS and while there is no way to change the number of thumbnails per row, some OSes have clearer thumbnails than others.
You can find your OS version under Options > About. Its the number listed after the v. (e.g. 5.0.0.713).
If you want to thank someone for their comment, do so by clicking the Thumbs Up icon.
If your issue is resolved, don't forget to click the Solution button on the resolution!

  • Bootable External HD?

I've just purchased a 750GB external HD. I will use the external HD (Firewire 800) for backing up the MBP, storing music files, storing photos and storing DV capture files. Before formatting it, I've been reading various posts to see what would be the best formatting answer for me. The decisions I'm trying to finalize are:
    1. How many partitions (I'm leaning towards 3; Backup, DV capture Files, Everything Else)
    2. What size partitions (Considering - Backup-140 GB; DV Capture - 400 GB; Everything else - 210GB)
    3. Bootable partition? I don't know whether to have a bootable partition. They seem popular here, but I haven't read why this is preferable to using the system disks that the MBP came with or if there is any downside to making one partition bootable.
    4. If it is preferable to having a bootable partition, how do you load the OS to the partition?
Any insights and suggestions would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know how to delete text (the DELETE key is a backspace key but will not delete text in front of the cursor). Thank you!

Setting up a backup strategy is not a simple matter, so you are right to want to consider all options in advance. Especially since there are so many possibilities.
I think the suggestion of more than one drive is a good one, as it gives you extra protection. I also think that it doesn't hurt to space out hard drive purchases a bit so that they aren't all the same age, and could possibly all go south at the same time. So if you decide to lay in a second drive sometime for the safety of having redundant backups, you can wait a bit to do so.
Here's the way I did it. I have a 2 year old La Cie desktop model that I use for Time Machine. But I travel a lot so I don't want to drag the La Cie around. So instead I recently got a 320 GB Western Digital notebook drive and put it in a firewire enclosure from OWC. This is small enough to carry around in my bag. I partitioned it into 3 partitions. One of these has the bootable clone I created using Super Duper and keep up to date. The other partitions are available for whatever I might need them for. For example, If my hard drive starts getting too full, I could move my photo library onto one of the other partitions and then delete it from my hard drive. When I update the clone, the photos will be removed from the clone as well. If I find I will be somewhere longer than expected, I could even use the third partition for a second time machine. Once a three day trip turned into a 4 month trip, and this could happen again, so I plan to be well prepared while on the road.
At the same time, I feel the La Cie is getting a bit long in the tooth. Before it turns three, I plan to lay in another desktop drive and copy everything on the La Cie onto the new desktop drive, whatever it may be.
One thing to understand about Time Machine. It keeps writing backups until its partition is full. Then it will tell you, and begin overwriting the oldest backups. So if there is something old that you know you want to save forever, like say photographs of a wedding, you need to copy them some where else.
This is where the notion of an archive comes in. You place your photos or whatever onto a separate partition that is dedicated to storing data and nothing else. You want it to be separate from Time Machines and clones because you want to be sure it cannot ever be erased or overwritten by accident.
There is one other thing I have been told, but cannot test myself because I don't have Disk Warrior. I understand you can install it in your Applications folder on your computer. Then when you make the clone, it will be in the clone's application folder. If you boot from the clone, you can open Disk Warrior and then use it to repair your MBP's startup disk. If this can be confirmed, you wouldn't need a separate partition for these utilities. Maybe one of the other people on this thread can confirm or refute this.
In terms of your partitions, Time Machine needs its own separate partition. This is so that it will not be able to overwrite anything else when it gets full. If you ever need to restore from Time Machine, you boot from your install disc and then restore from Time Machine. You might want the Time Machine to be larger than your internal drive.
The bootable clone needs its own partition equal in size to your internal hard drive. If it turns out you can incorporate Disk Warrior into the clone, you won't need a separate partition for these utilities.
With both Time Machine and a bootable clone, you shouldn't need any other back up software.
You will want a separate partition for archives and data storage, which will be your "everything else" partition.
So it looks like 3 or 4 partitions, depending on whether or not you can incorporate DiskWarrior and other utilities into the clone.
Hope this is not getting too confusing, but I feel that in the end, a discussion from different perspectives will ultimately shed a great deal of light on the situation, and the way forward will be clear.
    Good luck!

  • Bug? Vignetting & Adjustment Brush

    Hello.
This if my first post, so please don't be too harsh if I make any mistakes. I encountered a bug (well, at least I think it is one) while using LR3 on Win7.
While editing my images I added a post-crop vignetting. After finishing the colour & contrast stuff, I went on to retouching. After "inserting" the first adjustment brush, the vignetting changes, which, I think, shouldn't happen, because I dind't even touch any area near the vignetting. See the screenshots for details. (Sorry for the black areas, I didn't want to show the person I photographed.)
The difference is not very well visible if the screenshots are placed next to each other. However you can open both images in different tabs and switch between them, then you should definitely see it. Has anyone noticed that behavior before? Or does anybody have a clue what's happening here? I would be even happy for workarounds because I use both tools very often.
    Thank you!

I'm experiencing this bug as well. In addition to the extra strength post-crop vignette that happens, I'm also getting blotchy tiles where the post-crop vignette is supposed to be when I apply an exposure brush, as seen in the attached screen grab. Takes some fiddling around to make it go away. Usually turning off the "Effects" tab then turning it back on clears it up.
I'm on LR 3.2 using an iMac i7 quad 2.8ghz, 12gb RAM, ATI 4850 card 512mb V-RAM, plenty of disc space, working on Canon 5DMk2 raw files. Cache has been cleared and catalog optimized.

  • Crop Tool Confusion When Used to Change the Dimensions (but not the resolution) of an Image

Picture this.  You have a real photograph in front of you.  Its dimensions are 7x5 inches, and you want to cut out of that photograph, a 4x4” square.  You’re not bothered by the rest of the photograph, you’ll discard that, so you mark your 4” square on the photo at the place you want to keep, and with a pair of scissors, cut (crop) the photo accordingly.
Using the analogy above, I’m having difficulty achieving what should be an extremely simple operation in Photoshop CC 2014.  I have an image which is 5000px wide x 3800px high at a resolution of 240px/inch.
Using the “W x H x Resolution” option of the crop tool, I want to crop the image to 2100px x 2100px, maintaining the original image resolution of 240px/inch.  No matter what settings I use in the crop tool toolbar, the crop tool insists on sizing the crop by assuming the full length of the shortest axis on my image.  In this instance the vertical distance.  If I initiate the crop, I do end up with a 2100px square image at 240px/inch, but the shortest original dimension (and hence pro-rate the image) has been rescaled and resized.
What I was expecting to see is the crop tool outline simply showing a square which represents 2100px a side at 240px/inch relative to the image I’m viewing.  I would then drag the outline to the position where I wanted it, and then crop the image.  This isn’t happening.  I can manually resize the crop area with my mouse, and rely on the floating information pop-up to check the actual crop dimensions, but this seems counter-intuitive (not to mention difficult when attempting a pixel accurate crop).
Strangely enough, if I change the size of the crop window by using the mouse, and right click inside the crop area, the context menu has the option “Use Crop Box Size & Resolution”. Selecting this option updates the toolbar with the chosen crop size and everything is as expected.  Surely, this is what the crop toolbar should do in the first place?
Am I missing something here? I may not perform this particular operation very often in Photoshop, but I’m sure it worked the way I thought is should before!
    Regards,
    Steve

You'd better use the Marquee tool for this. Set the desired number of pixels in the options bar. Click and drag and finally Image > Crop.
