Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
     Snow Leopard General Requirements
       1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
       2. 1GB of memory
       3. 5GB of available disk space
       4. DVD drive for installation
       5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
           fees may apply.
       6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
           terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
     Lion System Requirements
       1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
           or Xeon processor
       2. 2GB of memory
       3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
       4. 7GB of available space
       5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
         1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
         2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
             Model Identifier 5,1 or later
         3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
         4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
         5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
         6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
         7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

In the iPhoto ratings there are alot of other people facing this problem I hope somebody can help me. thank you in advance

If you have OS X 10.6.8 as you state you can not get iphoto form the App store - you must have Yosemite OS X 10.10. installed to download iphoto 9.6 from the App store
If Nothing happens then you need to contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

  • Since March 2012 my iphoto 11 trash folder says that I have 13,346 photos in the iphoto trash, but there are no thumb nail copies in the viewer window.  I can delete additional photos but clicking on the "empty trash" button.  Any solutions?

Since March 2012 my iphoto 11 trash folder says that I have 13,346 photos in the iphoto trash, but there are no thumb nail copies in the viewer window.  I can delete additional photos but clicking on the "empty trash" button.
My system trash finally emptied when I discovered "trash it!" is not longer supported by the most recent osx.  Then I found an updated version of Onyx that did work with that trash emptying problem.
I have a total of 5,723 photos in my library.  A macdevelopers group recently started suggesting a multi library manager for iphoto to overcome some kind of library quota limitations with iphoto as opposed to "more advanced" photo handling, storing and editing programs.  If I went to a mult library manager for iphoto would that cure the apparent incongruent data retrieval problem in iphoto 11 regarding 13,346 phantom photos that will not securely delete?
Are there any other possible solutions out there?

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

    Hello Karen
Check out the quoted section below to see if you any subject line is causing the issue of them not syncing.
    iOS: Syncing Notes

Unable to sync notes with Outlook
If notes are not syncing from Outlook, verify that you don't have any notes with no content or subject in Outlook. These notes can prevent Outlook from syncing as expected; removing them or adding a subject should allow syncing to resume

  • My iPhone 4 shows the carrier name, I can go online with my data plan, but there are no bars and I can't make phone calls.

My iPhone 4 shows the carrier name, I can go online with my data plan, but there are no bars and I can't make phone calls.
It worked for some time, less than a week, I made phone calls and all, and all of a sudden the problem mentioned above happened. Now I can't make any phone calls. I can go online with it, even with my Data plan, I can go to the app store (of course) but can't make any phone calls.
    Please help, this is frustrating.

Did you already try the troubleshooting mentioned here? http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/calls/
Also try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple lo comes up again. You will not lose any data doing this.

  • I didn't set any password during setup of Lion, but now when I want to download stuff from safari, it asks me for password? plz help

I bought a new macbook air pre loaded with Lion. while setting up the system, I just input the user name, and didn't set any password.
But now when I wanna download stuff off safari, it asks me for password. The user name appears (the same one which I set) but it keeps on asking me the password which I never set. Can some one please help me. Thanks!

I did it like that, but for the purpose of not having to type my password every time since I'm installing a lot of programs, and yes, it asks for the password, but do not type anything and just click "ok" or "install", since you haven't set a password it should let you go through. I guess it asks for the "password" just to let you know it will install something, but just click ok.
I will set up a password once i have install everything in System Preferences/Users & Groups
    Hope it helps...

  • TS1424 downloaded an album but there are parts of tracks missing

Ive just bought a couple of albums on itunes and it said they were downloaded... when I play some of the tracks back there are chunks of the tunes missing can I re-download from itunes if I delete the files??

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • I need to use iMovie, but it says that my Quick Time needs to be updated.. but there are no new updates available

i need to use imovie for a project and i tried to open it but it says i need version 7.6.0 or later, so i went to software updates and there are no updates for my computer.
Any suggestions on what to do?!
    thanks,
    lauren

It depends on what iPhone you have.
If it's an iPhone 4S or earlier, click here.
If it's an iPhone 5, you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and that requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM.

  • My laptop (macbook air) asked me which library I wanted to open iphoto with but there were no options of libraries to open it with - I had to create a new library and all of my photos were gone.

My laptop said I was running out of space on my start up disk and then I opened iphoto and it asked which library I wanted to open it with. There were no options available so I had to create a new library for my iphoto. None of my photos were on iphoto when I opened it again. The same thing happened with my photobooth - all of my photos have disappeared.
I tried to do alt + command when opening iphoto but it didn't help, however I found some of my photos in the masters folder I found when I right clicked on the iphoto file.
Please help I have all of my photos from the last 3 years on my iphoto!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
    what fixes have you tried?
have you found where is your original library is located? Is there both an Old Masters and Masters folder in it?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
how much free space on your boot drive? It's strongly recommended to maintain a minimum of 10-15 GB of free space for optimal system and application performance.

  • How do I install Rosetta Stone onto my Macbook running OSX 10.8 when installing it I go into the folder called For MAC Users and the files in there are .exe files which cant be open on a Mac. If anyone has a solution or even a download link let me know.

This is really frustrating please let me know I looked around and all the downloads cost money and I would prefer if you guys could give me a free one but a solution would be even better!!
    Thanks

You have the Windows version of the software.  You will need to contact Rosetta Stone directly to get the Mac version of their software.  I can confirm it does install on Mountain Lion without issues.

  • Why do some websites tell me that my Safari needs to be updated but there are no Software Updates for my computer?

I have Safari version 5.1.10 and Maverick 10.6.8.  I see that there is Safari 6 & 7 but when I run a Software Update, it says my computer is up to date.

Those are only for newer Mac OS X versions; you need to upgrade the computer's OS or switch browsers.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • Firefox doesn't recognize FLASH after update, no matter what. Also says to update plugins but there are none to update listed?

I have downloaded & re-downloaded FLASH, but after I updated my Firefox to 22.0 it no longer recognizes FLASH is installed on my computer. It also keep telling me "Some plugins required by this page have been blocked for your protection." When I check the plugins, the 3 listed are up to date, and the other 3 are marked "research" - which doesn't allow you to update them. I cannot discern that any of those are what is being blocked. When I click on Details, it brings me to a list of "Modules bloqués" and it's all listed in French...which would be great if spoke French or lived in France, but alas California is in the USA. My Java is updated, enabled & not blocked in any way. My Shockwave Flash is disabled & it will not give me the option to Enable it; I also cannot find a way to reinstall it or find a plugin to help me. !@#$%! So frustrating that this new "update" is useless. I hate 22.0.
    What do I do now?

Your System Details List shows that some plugins are blocklisted and Flash is included:
    # plugin.blocklisted.flash: True
    # plugin.blocklisted.java: True
    # plugin.blocklisted.nppdf: True
Which version of the Flash plugin do you have installed if you check that in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > > Plugins?
You will have to update Flash to make it work.
You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.

  • I want to download iPhoto but it won't let me says I need iOS5.1.  I have the 4s. Could someone explain this?.1.

I want to download iPhoto but it won't. Says I need iOS5.0. I have the new 4s. Can anyone help me out?

Your iPhone has to have the iOS upgraded to 5.1 first. If you have not updated it is probably running 5.0 or 5.0.1
To update the iOS go to
Settings > General > Software Update then follow the prompts.
If that says your are at 5.1 then reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
