I want to find out how much space on my macbook pro hard drive is from iphoto pics

i have a macbook pro (2008) w/186 g hard drive, w/OS 10.5.8.  I want to find out how much (% or # of gigabytes) of the hard drive is pics from iPhoto.  does it sort by type (e.g., apps) ?

Click on Pictures in the Finder’s sidebar, select the iPhoto library, and choose Get Info from the File menu. If you’re using multiple libraries, you’ll need to do this on each one.

How do i find out how much space i have left on my computer?

Disk space can now be seen in the "About This Mac" window. Click on the Apple icon, select About This Mac then click More Info... There you will find a Storage tab that will list all connected drives in a bar graph similar to how storage is displayed in iTunes for iOS devices.

  • How can I find out how much space left on a hard drive connected to an airport?

When I go into the finder and choose the AirPort, the external drive that's hooked up to the airport shows up just fine, though its icon is a folder, not a "hard drive" icon. But if I try to do "info" on the drive, it says "zero KB on disk." I know this isn't true, since my entire iTunes library is on that disk.  How can I find out how much room is left on that hard drive?

You should be able to see both the total capacity and remaining available on the Disks tab within the AirPort Utility.
ref: AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Manual Setup > Disks > Disks tab, and then, click on the shared disk volume name.
Although the following is an AirPort Utility screen-shot of a Time Capsule, it should look identical for the AirPort Extreme.

  • Where do i find out how much space i have available on my computer

I have a macbook pro and was wondering how to find out how much space I have available.  I need to download pictures off my external drive to format it.

Many possibility. If you want to see, how the disk space is used, click the -menu and select "About this Mac".
In the "About" panel click "More Info".
Then you can explore your Mac. Click the "Storage" tab.
It will show you, how the disk space is used for photos, apps, etc. for all connected drives.
This screenshot is for MacOs X 10.9.4.

  • How do I find out how much space OSX and applications are taking up on my HDD?

I am thinking of moving my OS and all applications to a SSD to free up space on my MBP.
My question is how do I find out how much space OSX and installed applications are taking up on my HDD so I know how big the SSD needs to be?  Also, what is the best way to move these files across to the new SSD once installed?
    Many thanks,
    Andrew.

If you do command-click or right click on your hard drive and select get info, it will tell you how full the HD is.
there are some apps that can show you exactly how big particular apps are

I replaced my internal drive with a SSD for performance reasons a few months ago. There are a number of ways to move your files over to the new SSD. I am a fan of the clean install, which might take a bit more time and effort but results in a very fast and trouble free mac. An easy way to do this if you are replacing your internal drive is to put the old drive in an external drive enclosure. Then you install the new SSD and install mavericks on it. In my case I used Diskmaker X to make a Mavericks installer (DiskMaker X (formerly Lion DiskMaker) . Then you can reinstall your apps from scratch, and finally move your documents over from the external drive.

Locate iPhoto Library (the default location is <~/Documents/Pictures/iPhoto Library>), select it, and choose File > Get Info.

  • How to find out how much space is left

    Hi,
I know Oracle XE has a 4GB user data limit, and a 5GB overall limit. Using APEX you can find out how much space is left via the administration section.
I'm going to upgrade to APEX 3.0 for testing. However APEX 3.0 will not show me how much space I have left since it's not explicitly written for Oracle XE. What query can I run to find out how much space I have left?
    Thanks,
    Martin

The following should give you the same results as XE administration => storage :
    select total, allocated, 100 - allocated / total * 100 percent_free
from (select 5120 total, sum(bytes)/1024/1024 allocated
    from dba_data_files
    where tablespace_name != 'UNDO')

  • How do I find out how much space I have left on my macbook pro? I downloaded the new mavericks operating system and can't figure it out. Before the space would be at the bottom of my finder.

I downloaded the new mavericks operating system on my macbook pro and I can't find out how much space I have left. Before the installation of mavericks, storage space left was displayed at the bottom of the Finder window.

In the Finder, under the View menu there is an option to Show Status Bar.  Select that and you will see the info on the bottom of folders again.

Open any folder on it and choose Show Status Bar from the Finder’s View menu.
Alternatively, choose Computer from the Go menu, control-click the drive, and choose Get Info.

  • How to find out how much space apps are taking

i don't know when this happened but i'm using about 85gb of my 250gb hard drive, when it used to be around 50gb. so i was wondering why when i look at itunes music it shows how much space it's taking the bottom, but if i go to the app section of itunes it only shows '198 apps', but not how much space it's taking? do the apps that i have in itunes take up space on my hard drive and how do i find out how much? also i see in finder that i have some previous itunes libraries, is it safe to delete these, some are from 2008. thanks for any help.

No. It does not do that.
Just about anything from your Home directory where your files are kept can be deleted or moved.
Outside of the Home directory you have to be careful since you don't want to destroy your system.
If you have large folders or files outside of your Home directory, please ask first before moving or deleting.

  • Want to find out how much data a Web Service is sending to client (JWSDP)

Well, the subject line didn't fit what I was intended to say, so if you don't get what I am saying in the subject line, I am sorry.
My question is... I have a Web Service client that uses stub classes generated by wscompile in JWSDP. I am wondering, it there a way to find out how much data the Web Service is sending back to my client.
The reason I asked is this, I used WebLogic 7.0 workshop to create a Web Service and also used JWSDP to create the same Web Service which deploys to Tomcat. The generated WSDL files from WebLogic workshop and JWSDP that expose the same functionalities have differences. The WSDL from WebLogic workshop is 1.5 times the size of the WSDL from JWSDP. When I tested both with client programs, calling the Web Service in Tomcat (which uses JWSDP to built) is much quicker than calling the Web Service in WebLogic.
For this reason, I would liked find out if the Web Service from WebLogic is sending more data than the one created with JWSDP.
    Thanks.

I've used the TcpTunnelGui utility to see the HTTP flowing up and down the wire, that might help you.

  • New aperture library to ensure no space used on MacBook Pro hard drive

    Hi
My laptop MacBook Pro hard drive is getting full (again). I mainly have photos on my laptop and iTunes. Using referenced files and having the raw photos stored on an external drive still eats up lots of GBs.  If I create a new Aperture library on a portable external drive (that I can back up on Time Machine) is this the best way to ensure my photos are available to edit, but that no GBs of my hard drive are used up as I import to the NEW library on the 1TB portable external drive.
Are there any disadvantages or other ways to prevent any more hard drive GBs being used?
And should the new library NOT be referenced since the photos will be on the external portable until it fills up.
    Many thanks
    BW

    Hi Kirkby
Appreciate your help and useful link. I think I have been doing exactly as you recommend to date, using my laptop internal drive to store the library etc. and a portable external drive FW800 for my referenced originals, together with iMovie clips for the same events/years.  But my external is now full. And my internal drive is OK but I don't want to add more GBs to it.
It is the next step I am pondering. The main problem being to avoid any extra laptop internal GBs being used up.
I usually need access to originals and iMovie clips for the same event on one drive. My iMovie projects include both.
I could buy a 2TB portable drive and move all my originals to it, and even also the library but really I would prefer to have two externals and choose which one to connect, as required for Aperture and iMovie. And I would like maximum growing room on any new drive I buy.
(I back up my lap top and each external drive to time machine, and put my photos from memory card onto a DVD as unedited originals. I have usb2 and FW800 and FW400 only)
It's the best storage of new original photos and clips, and not eating up my last 50gb of my laptop drive, while enabling easy access to my most recent pics to enable more convenient editing, that are my issues. I don't want to have to sit at my desktop with a large external drive while editing.
Is anything daft or disadvantageous about creating a new aperture library on a new external portable drive to store and enable access to all my new photos from 2014 onwards? I realise I would have to switch to the old library  and connect another external drive for pre 2014 access. And would this mean NOT eating up any more laptop internal drive GBs?
    Thank you again
    BW
