I want to force lan cable plugin during login process on 802.1x computer only weird client

Hi
I Configured Wired and computer only  802.1x authentications on all my switch and client on my network  ,It works without any problem .
I have user logon script to change local administrator password each time they log on ,I recently find out they boot with light cd and change the administrator password and unplug the lan cable boot the system and login with new administrator password after
that they plug lan cable , as they computer account is valid in active directory they are authorized and access the LAN .
they bypass some group policy by this way,
how can I force 802.1x wired client computer to plug lan cable during boot and login process in order to prevent bypass user login group policy  ?
I want to force lan cable plugin during login process on 802.1x computer only weird client?

Hello,
you can disable CD/USB with GPO settings to prevent the use from it.
And for the change from the local admin password you should consider that the CEO of the company should make clear policies so users can legally be punished if they don't work with the company rules.
You can manage lot of settings with scripts etc. BUT there is a time where the CEO is responsible about rules.

  • CAN'T Update Server name during login (since I have changed computer name)

I had a working environment of SAP BO 8.8 installation (VM), I made a second copy for a someone who needs to change his server name so we don't collide with each other.  So he changed his server name fine and now when we try to change the name during login in SAP BO, we are completely unable to do anything, no company or database shows up and when you try typing server name it won't allow you since it is a drop down, the only availble server name is the old server name.
We went to Service Manager, got a new license key for the hardware key, update fine as well as updating the server name there but when we try login, we are not able and no matter what we do we are not able to change the server name.  Please help, it is getting desperate (tried all things possible).
    Thanks

In working VM copy, do a global search for the server name in all configuration files in SAP install directory.  Then compare with copied copy and try to change appropriate names in all files.
Changing server name is a complex process, it has many references in many configuration files that you may have to touch.
This will be an uphill battle. Goodluck.
Lots of other things you can do, ping by hotname, check hostfile in case vm is also using it, there are two types of vm installs network or self contained (something like that) - so hostname may be getting masked by vm network environment, definitely SAP has few configuration files where the Server name, db name, license server name, port etc are present, even check for firewall settings etc.

  • Timer fires during trigger processing on web

I was looking for a way to augment the default behaviour
of a hierarchical tree. The trouble is clicking in a tree can fire various combinations of WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK, WHEN-TREE-NODE-SELECTED, WHEN-TREE-NODE-EXPANDED,
WHEN-TREE-NODE-ACTIVATED, WHEN-MOUSE-DOUBLE-CLICKED. I wanted to trigger some action after they had finished firing but as I didn't know which would fire last, where to put the code ?
The solution I found was to start a 1 ms timer in WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK (which always fires first), gather information from the other triggers into a variable, and do my processing in WHEN-TIMER-EXPIRED. This worked fine on client/server but when I deployed it on the web I found the timer expired between WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK and WHEN-TREE-NODE-SELECTED (triggered by a single click).
My understanding of timers is that, however short their duration, they should not expire during trigger processing. Have I got this wrong or is this a bug ?
It seems to work OK with 5 ms but I would like to know what is going on.
    (f6i patch 7)

    All,
as promised, here's an answer from development. Duncan said it already, but here's the long version
1). Regarding timers in general. 1ms timers fire on the server (effectively,
at the time the timer is created in a trigger, we put a timer macro on the
stack so that that next time we go for input (after we've processed all
of the events we've already gotten at that point), it will act as if the timer
has expired. This, as you know, prevents us from doing round-trips to the
client when people are simply creating a timer to get around some of the
restricted built-in/trigger issues. Any timer of longer than 1ms will get
created on the client and thus cause round-trips. We have no plans to
bump that threshhold up, so people could use 2ms timers if they wanted...
2). Regarding timers expiring during trigger processing. It is true in both
client/server and web that we will not expire a timer while a trigger is
firing. However, the order in which the user will see events (and thus
which triggers will fire in) can vary. In the example that was given,
the user (double)clicks on a node in the tree on the client. The first
mouse click causes a message/event to be sent immediately to the
server, which ends up causing the when-mouse-clicked trigger to fire.
As soon as that message is sent, the server starts processing that
trigger. In the meantime, the client may decide that it needs to send
other messages (such as when-node-selected, etc.). However, until
the server sends a return-message to the client asking for more input,
this won't get sent. Now, the server fires the when-mouse-click trigger,
and as part of it a timer gets created. There are two possible scenarios
    here.
In the first scenario, the timer is 1ms, and thus is handled on the
server. Thus, when the trigger ends, the server sees if there is any more
input to be processed, and sees that the timer has expired (because, as
I explained above, this gets put directly onto the macro stack). Thus, the
timer expired trigger fires. After that trigger fires, the server sees that it
has no more input waiting, and sends a message to the client telling it to
send more input. At that point, the client can send whatever other events
it has queued up (such as the when-node-selected) and we carry on.
In the second scenario, the timer is more than 1ms long. In this case, when
the trigger says to create a timer, the server queues up a message to send
to the client telling it to create a timer. When the rest of the trigger is complete
and the server sees that it has no more events to process, it sends this timer
creation message to the client at the same time it asks the client to give it
more events. The client sends the when-node-selected event, the server
processes it, and eventually asks the client for more input. By then, the
timer has expired and then the timer message gets sent to the server.
In neither of these cases does the timer trigger fire in the middle of
another trigger that is already firing, it is simply that the separate triggers
might fire in a different order because of the order that the underlying
events are processed. In client/server, the process is effectively the same
as the 2nd scenario above, because the timer is handled by the toolkit, just
like the other events, and thus the message for the timer expiring will get
sent to Forms after any of the events related to the mouse click. But again,
the rule about timers firing during trigger processing is not violated, it is just
that there is a break between triggers that can allow a 1ms timer to fire
'sooner' on the web than in client/server.

  • I want to block the Update plugins pop up, I have a PPC I can't update!

I want to block the Update plugins pop up. I have a G5 MAC running Power PC processors. The newer versions of Flash and Java are for Intel processors. I can not utilize those newer updates. So if I can't have Fire Fox stop popping up that annoying reminder then, I will be forced to uninstall Fire Fox and use Safari.

You can set the <b>plugins.update.url</b> pref to an empty string and set the <b>plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin</b> pref to true on the about:config page.

  • Using Time Capsule without lan cable

The new router issued by my ISP is without ethernet connection. Can I use my time capsule to share the internet connection instead of the router directly, without lan cable?

The Time Capsule can do what you want if it connects to a wireless signal produced by another Apple wireless router, but it would not be comatible with a 3rd party wireless router.
You might want to get with your ISP and ask them if they have another router available with industry standard things....like an Ethernet port.

  • LAN cable with MBP

Hi every one, i have an EDIMAX wireless router and modem at home of a speed of 1.5 mbps ADSL at home, works ok with my MBP after some issues (i think every one knows what i'm talking about), after the last update it started to give me a hard time but after updating the last batch of APEX and AP it's ok now, my question is, how to secure my router by means of even if some one hooked there PCs to my router using LAN cables can't get access ? i'm using EDIMAX (AR-7064g+A). thanks in advance.

The question of keeping the kids safe is not so much one of the network settings as the use of Parental Controls. This is another feature that can be accessed via the System Preferences panel. It needs a separate user account for your little ones (that will keep them away from your files as well) and then can be fine-tuned. Time-Limits in that panel seems to provide exactly what you want while Content has the access to the internet restrictions. Mind you, if they are bright (see below), they may well find a way past this eventually, so it is worth checking the logs from time to time.
I guess from looking at your reply to Craig Brady, it is your kids who may be plugging in another computer (or accessing via your computer) using the LAN cables. As Craig says, there is not much that can be done with the setup you have now. Perhaps some more information about machine availability might be useful.

  • How do I enable plugins during Private Browsing sessions?

I sometimes use Private Browsing. However, I noticed that when Private Browsing is enabled, plugins are disabled. I assume this is because some of the plugins maintain personal data, so Firefox cannot guarantee that the plugins will not store personal data during the Private Browsing session.
Still, I want to enable plugins during Private Browsing and I accept the risks involved. But I have not yet figured out how to enable plugins during Private Browsing.
How do I do enable plugins during Private Browsing?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== since Private Browsing was built into Firefox

    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Private+Browsing
The disabling of '''''plugins''''' isn't a feature of Private Browsing, what indication do you have that ''something'' is disabled?
Or, are you talking about certain '''''extensions''''' or their features being disabled??
That shouldn't happen either, unless a particular extension uses or extends the features in Firefox that are disabled in Private Browsing mode. I imagine that an extension that deals with Passwords, any type of History ''(like Download List, Forms, or Search)'', visited pages ''(browsing history)'', the Cache, or Cookies isn't going to work as it would in the "normal browsing" mode.

  • Guide to get internet via LAN cable With WRE54G

    Hello Guys!
Sorry for my very bad English!
I found a way to get internet through the LAN cable on the WRE54G.
First of all I was thinking; isn't t very weird that I can connect to my standard gateway using the LAN connection of the WRE but not being able to connect to google?.. The answer is quite simple; If i Looked at my LAN settings on my PC there was no DNS server configured.
I opened the standard gateway (192.168.2.1) and looked for the IP of the DNS server.
I opened the config panel of my LAN connection and set my IP to 192.168.2.40, Subnetmask 255.255.255.0, standard gateway 192.168.2.1 and DNS server; the adress that I found on the page of the standard gateway (you can find it as well as you connect to your router directly in the details tab of your connection)...
You really need to set the IP and DNS server manually because DHCP doesn't work quite well on the WRE...
Now you can use the WRE as a WLAN to LAN receiver.
I also found a way to connect the WRE to a second router.
Might be handy if you want to give a wired LAN party on a second router but you are not able to make a wired link between the first and the second router and you really want to add an internet connection to it, just ask!

I have a setup that receives the WiFi signal from a distant router, and I wish to set up another "G" router at this end.  Can you tell me how to connect the WR54G to a WRT54G router?

  • If someone pulls out the LAN cable ?

I need to trap this event, and make some software handle the situation. Is there any event or message or interrupt generated when some one pulls out the LAN cable or the interface card is down ? If yes where n how can I trap one?
    Ciao...

thanx, I've tried this. and the syslogd does put "hme0: Link down, cable problem?" in case I pull out the cable, but as the god (customer) wants it we need to take care of the situation if the customer gives a command like "ifconfig hme0 down" accidently!! and syslogd doesn't seem to be putting any messeges in this case. so still the problem remains half solved. any ideas.

    Thanks!!

well, I can't answer questions about iPhoto, but either the photos are on your hard disk somewhere (in which case you won't lose them), or they are not on your hard disk somewhere (in which case I hope you have made recent backups).
So which is it? Can you find the photos on your hard disk, or not?

  • IMac slows down wifi/LAN cable connection

    Hello,
I came across a quiet unique and annoying problem, that I have not seen being discussed so far.
I spend the last 3 weeks trying to solve my internet/wifi connection following all kinds of posts here.
Problem: Wifi/Lan internet connection is slow (less than 0.8mbit/s)
Problem only appears when I login with an iMac via wifi OR lag cable
    iMac, 2011 27`` Mac OS 10.7.5
    Background:
I have a 20mbit/s internet connection with my provider. works fine on iPad, iPhone, appleTV HTC one mini, etc… BUT as soon, as I login with my iMac, the internet connection slows down to less than 1 mbit/s
    I have tried following solutions:
    - live box (router) was exchanged and is brand new
    - security settings on router changes (wpa2 etc)
    - all channels on router tested from 1-13
    - keychain saved passwords for Wifi and router deleted, PRAM reset
    - renewed lease of connected devices (no IP conflict)
    - shut down wifi on iMac - connection with all devices great, as soon as i switch wifi on, all devices lose their high speed connection and go down to less than 1mbit/s
    - connected iMac via LAN cable: same problem, all speed is lost
    - iMac is not in the network - speed is great
    - connected iMac via time capsule wifi, same problem. connected iMac via netgear extender, same problem
also, if I open network preferences and start the "assist me" app and run diagnostics, all dots are green except the ISP and server, bit most of the time they switch to green immediately, but connection is still slow.
Reception bar is on "3", so signal strength is no problem, and I´d like to emphasize that this is also happening on LAN cable. and again, if the iMac is disconnected from wifi AND / OR LAN, all other devices work fine.
Would love to hear your thoughts!
    Thanks!

Although I have been on Mac OS for a while now, I have never had to troubleshoot faulty network in the mac itself.
OSX does apparently have a safe mode boot..
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Try that.. as that gives you the same thing as windows with all the extras left out, so you get a basic operating system only and you can see if the problem still exists.. if it does.. I would simply bite the bullet.. wipe the Mac.. reinstall the OS and then carefully reinstall your applications from original disks/downloads and move your operating files back .. but start a different user on the computer and copy back the min you need to get working again.
If the problem still happens even in safe mode boot then do a hardware test.. because it is possible something has actually failed at the hardware level.

    Hi,
    I'm facing the same problem.
I wrote an very easy report. It works as intended, but when i set fillable='X' i get the error FPRUNX 001.
    FP_GET_LAST_ADS_TRACE return following:

I am trying to hook up my printer to my wireless router using a lan cable. Is there an adapter or other method to use?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on its specs, it ONLY has USB connection and no slot for a NIC therefore you can use USB wireless print server to connect it wirelessly.
    Here are some of them:
         USB Wireless Print Servers
Instructions and driver should come with the box.
