  • I have foxfire4.0. want to go back to older version. How can i do this?

I had foxfire3.5 then upgraded to 4.0. When I downloaded the 4.0 version I lost some of my Security program's abilities. I want them back. Where can I find the download for the older version of foxfire?

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • I want to re-install an older version of Flash Player but...

I hope this is the right place to ask this question...
I have a new dual processor pentium laptop and I upgraded to Flash V10.1 a couple of days ago. One web site I access regularly has now slowed right down and the video is unwatchable. My CPU meter runs at over 70% so I simply wanted to uninstall V10.1 and re-install V9. For whatever reason (I don't know if it is laptop, Win7 or Adobe), I am prevented from loading the older version. An Adobe window pops up and says that this (V9) is not the latest version, stops the install and points me back to the Adobe site to download the latest version. I have followed all of the guides to ensure proper uninstallation of V10.1. All very frustrating!
    Can anyone help - please?
    Thanks
    Ian

OK, here I am replying to myself but perhaps others may gain from this solution. Remember, this original post was "how to stop Adobe preventing me from installing an older version and forcing me to take the latest version...". I just wanted to re-install an older version to prevent big CPU usage and stuttering video. Well, this is what fixed it for me an allowed me to install Adobe Flash V9...
Assuming you have properly uninstalled Adobe Flash Player v10.n, you need to remove a folder and files from your registry. If you are unhappy to do this, then ask an expert - the registry is not somewhere you want to get lost in. I am also assuming you have the correct system permissions, Anway this is what I did:
    1. Go to start button and find (and run) REGEDIT.EXE
    2. Rather than give you a specific path to follow, it is best to simply use REGEDIT to find the folder by clicking "Edit" then "Find".
    3. You are looking for a folder called "SafeVersions".
    4. When you find it, it may show a number of safe versions (previous loads of the player).
    5. From the left window pane, right click on the aforementioned folder then click "Delete"
    6. Respond to any prompts you might get, like, "do you want to do this..." etc.
    7. Close down all applications in the normal manner and reboot.
    8. When restarted, go back on line and download the V9 (or whatever version you want). You'll know its a good 'un as it loads in a fraction of the time.
    9. Go back to your web page or whatever and, hey presto, everything is back to what it was before that hungry V10.n was uploaded.
Hope that helps, it might be nice if the Adobe uninstaller deleted this registry entry, but it doesn't - or at least in Win7 on my PC, it didn't.
Let me know it the above works for you.
    Thanks and good luck

  • I don't like Firefox 4!! How do I get back the older version???!!!

I've lost features that I had and used frequently. I tried to get info and found suggestion that customizing toolbar by dragging buttons/icons to toolbar would work. I did that for Refresh. Stop, Print, and Home, but the Stop and Refresh don't work. I've lost the down-arrow that was next to the Forward and Back buttons; the down-arrow at right side of URL bar does not take the place of the arrow I've lost.
I've found statements from others who do not like the new version and want to go back to previous version, BUT THERE WAS NO INFO ON HOW TO RETURN TO 3.6.?

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

  • HT1947 Can I go back to an older version of iTunes that'll support both my iPhone 4S w/iOS6 and my MacBook running Leapord 10.5.8?

Can I go back to an older version of iTunes that'll support both my iPhone 4S w/iOS6 and my 2009 MacBook running Leapord 10.5.8? I simply want everything to work the way it had been forever until recently. However, I can't imagine Apple would intentionally make their own products obsolete by rendering them useless through a software "upgrade."  My MacBook is only 3 yrs old so I feel like I am simply missing 1 piece to this puzzle in order for things to start working again. I have my MacBook, iPod and iPhone 4S all set up to install updates automatically so if I need to uninstall certain updates and revert back to ones that work will that even be an option?  Thanks

The only version of iTunes which will support both is version 10.6.3.

  • I have an older version of itunes on my L drive.  Everytime I try to download the newest version I get the error itunes.resources is not a valid short file name.  Now I obtained an iphone and cannot sync the phone to my account because it wants me to upda

I have an older version of itunes on a separate drive.  Everytime that there has been an update to itunes it will not let me update.  Now I purchased an iphone and I hooked the phone up to the computer and it tells me I need to install the latest version of itunes.  I downloaded to try it, but I keep getting an error message that says itunes.Resources is not a valid short file name.  What can I do from here?

That is a new one on me.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Since the iTunes update to 10.6 everytime I open iTunes there is an error message that says that iTunes has encountered an error and needs to shut down. Is there a way to fix this or go back to an older version of iTunes?

Ever since the update, when I load iTunes it encounters an error and force closes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything Apple twice and that hasn't fixed the issue. Is there a way to go back to an older version of iTunes?

  • I recently installed the trial version of Adobe XI and the trial period ended, so I wanted to revert back to the version I already had. I did not see any uninstall feature and my old version was apparently replaced by the trial version. I cannot re-instal

I recently installed the trial version of Adobe XI and the trial period ended, so I wanted to revert back to the version I already had. I did not see any uninstall feature and my old version was apparently replaced by the trial version. I cannot re-install a previous version b/c I need both a product Id (GOd only knows where that is now) and a way to uninstall the trial. Any ideas?

When you installed the trial, there should have been an option to have ignored your current installation and leave it. Apparently you skipped that case. To uninstall the trial (in Windows) go to Control Panel>Programs & Features and select the Acrobat XI and choose uninstall. After the uninstall run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html to clean up your system. HOWEVER, if you see your old Acrobat in that window, do not run the cleaner, but do a repair on the old version.
You did not mention the old version you had. You might try from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. As for the S/N, you should have register and if so you can get it from Adobe. The instructions are at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html#adobeproductdownload.
Be sure to backup any download of the old installer and the S/N to CD or backup HD for future use. They will not likely continue to be available.

Firefox 3.6.x is the last available from Mozilla for PPC Macs. <br />

    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4+ versions, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues,
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Once it is installed, open Addons Manager and re-enable Google Toolbar.

  • Is there any way I can get back an older version of Pages, the Version 5.0 is useless to me

I feel really dumb as I do not have a backup of the older versions and I thought, that Apple might only add some bug fixes or style changes to the new versions, but the way it functions right now makes it useless to me... No I would like to know If I can get back the older version somehow.
    Thanks in advance

You can have the iWork '09 apps be the default but still have the new apps installed. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "other applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3.
