I want to have 2 windows open at the same time using Windows7

Using any application, I want to have 2 windows open at the same time - 1 excel sheet & 1 Word document, or 2 diff pages from Blackboard, or email & Blackboard. How do I do this. Multiple tabs show, but only one will display

Are you saying that you can't open a new window using {Ctrl + N} or with File > New Window?
If so, something added to Firefox is blocking the opening of new windows, and you need to do a little troubleshooting to discover what is causing that fault.
Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
# You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
# Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • When i have 4 or 5 browser windows open at the same time, sometimes they get grouped into one tab and i can not ungroup them. why does this happen?

4 or 5 browser windows open at the same time. Tabs are down in the control bar. every now and then they just combine into one pop up. can't undo and very annoying. Have to close all out and start over.

This can happen if you drag a tab slightly down in the browser window while clicking.
Firefox has a feature called tear-off tabs
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can also do this via the right-click context menu of a tab: Move to New Window
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

  • How do we keep the panels and the icons windows open at the same time?

Hi, I was watching a tutorial and noticed that he had the panels and icons window open at the same time as seen in this picture:
When ever I click the arrow on the right it removes one of these panels from my view.
    How do I do this?

Navigator to layers is a 2nd column. The double arrow is bascially a collapse button. In the screenshot you show has column 1 of windows is collpased, and column 2 is uncollapsed.

  • HT201236 I want to do something so simple that there are no instructions. I just need to have two windows open at the same time so I can transfer files from one to the other by drag

I want to transfer files from one device (or page ) to another by drag and drop , so i need two windows ope   at the same time,
I know this can be done but I have forgotten how

Don't use any full screen options for any app that has them
Mount your device and double click on it to open it. Drag this window to the upper right of your Desktop and resize it to a bit less than half of your Desktop.
Open the next folder and position it on the lower left side and resize it so you can still see the previous window.

  • I want to have two windows open at the same time

I have multiple tabs but I want to be able to see two or three windows at the same time. How do I do this

You can click and drag on a tab to "tear" it out into a new window. Or you can open a new window by pressing Control+N, or by hovering over "New Tab" in the Firefox menu and then choosing "New Window" from the sub-menu that appears.

  • How can i have to windows open at the same time

i have to applications open and i want them on the same window at the same time but these little triangles show up and only allow me to have one open on my screen, i was able to before however. How can i change this?

Open the first website you want and then click on "file" and then on "new window." Another window will appear so now you have 2 windows on your screen. Reduce the two windows so that they both fit on your screen. Now click on the edge of either window and then on the book mark of the website you want and that website will appear in that window, and do the same thing on the other window for a different book mark, OR type in a different website name in each of the windows and you will get those websites in the respective windows.
I know...it seems so easy, but I had to ask someone else how to do it too !

  • Passing parameters within 2 windows open at the same time

    Hi all,
I'm developing a jsp site which i have 1 main window, and it contains link to open another sub window. In the sub window, I have to choose 1 to few plants from a list, when i click on "add" button, the main window will actually updated and display a list with the selected plants.
    1) Is that any ways for me to establish the parameter passing process?
    2) After getting those parameters, how can i make the main window refresh?
Very thank you for any kind of advises.
    Regards,
    jeffcjm

    Hi all,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
Can it handle using JSTL? I did some research, and some ppl said that jsp:include can actually use. However I still wondering on how it can be done if jsp:include can be used. I mean how to pass the parameters using the jsp:include? By setting the jsp:param?
    So pls advice.
    Regards,

  • Two Fx 4 windows open at the same time causes usability issues

When I load two instances of Firefox, I get multiple issues with the second instance usability, display, and hot keys.
    The issues are as follows:
    # Menubar/Toolbar appear differently
    # Back/Forward buttons do not work
    # F-Keys no longer Function
    # Favicons show old, cached icons
Please see screen grab of my two monitors with two instances of Fx 4 open, but the I played with my toolbar settings to get it to look somewhat ok.
    http://www.travellingwebguy.com/images/Fx-4.png
This is what happens when I open a second window, and do not mess with the toolbars:
    http://www.travellingwebguy.com/images/Fx-4-2nd-window.png
This issue was not happening with Fx 3.x.x.
I am using a custom Persona, but I have changed the Persona a few times and I still get the same result.
I've removed all incompatible extensions and upgraded all the ones that needed upgrading.
Not sure what the issue is here, but would love to troubleshoot it down if possible. Please let me know if any other info is required!
    Cheers
    Tim

Exact same issue here. Also, the add-on manger will not launch.
I thought it might be an add-on causing these issues, but only one out of my ten or so addons work in FF4, and I disabled it with no success.
This is a huge issue for me. I attempted to uninstall FF4 and go back to FF3 but I can't find an install file for FF3.

  • Lightroom quits when Photoshop CS4 is open at the same time

When I have Lightroom open at the same time as Photoshop CS4 I get the message Lightroom has encountered a problem and has to shut down. I am running the latest version of Lightroom using a PC with XP professional 64 bit. Also occasionally Lightroom reverts back to an old catalogue. Does anyone else have these problems?

Just FYI, Lightroom is not supported on XP 64 bit. This might be one of the reasons why. You might need Vista or 7. I do know many people still run it on XP 64 though.

  • I was login a website ,and i have opened cookies , i want to open another window to login the same website use another account , and in the same windows can use the same account , how can i achieve it ? thinks

i want to use firefox to login a website ,in the same window and different tags can user the same session
but when i open other window and login the same website use different account .
how can i achieve it ? thinks

Your problem has nothing to do with the faults or limitations of a web browser.
''There can be only ONE active user logged in on a specific website during a whole Browsing Session. Even if you try to log-in using a new window it will sign-out the earlier User ID from that website. It will keep the most recent logged-in User ID active.''
This is the general policy on which all websites are built. Even if you try to login the same website from another web browser, you won't be able to login from the second platform either. I just check it. Tried on Mozilla and Internet Explorer.

I want to open a folder in a separate window by clicking on it.  For some reason when I click on a folder it just replaces the one I was just in.  I want them both to be open at the same time without having to go through several steps. Old apple operating systems made it easy to have several folders open at one time.

Eric, thanks that works but seems like an extra added step also to do it that way.  I've got to move and organize a ton of files and I'm looking for a easy way to get this done.  I could also open the folder into a separate tab and then drag the tab out so it becomes an open window but thats a lot of fussing around also with extra steps.  Not sure why these newer operating system seems more confusing and less user friendly than what they used to.  In the past I could just click on any folder and it would open in a separate window making it really easy to copy or move files from one place to the other just by simply dragging them from one window to the other.  Seems like I'm going through several extra steps now to do a simple task.
