I want to have two profiles share the same extensions and themes.

I have themes in Profile 1 that I want Profile 2 to have and I have themes in Profile 2 that I want Profile 1 to have. Also, I want both Profile 1 and Profile 2 to have each others extensions, however I don't want them to be global for all profiles.

There was a method of doing this listed in '''news.mozilla.org.firefox''' '''re:Globalizing extension''s"' .by Sailfish ) a few versions back. But the current version doesn't have the same menu options as older one's did.
Basically the old way to do it was to it is 1st backup the profiles in question . Then navigating in '''Profile 1''':
# Options>Help>Troubleshooting Information"
# Click "Open Containing Folder" Button in Applications Basic Section
# Close Browser Leaving Folder Open
# Repeat these steps for '''Profile 2.'''
# Navigate to each profile folder's extension/theme folder and copy the folder for the desired extensions missing from the other to it's extension/theme folder. Note: You may need to navigate down to the extensions folder's chrome/content/ folder to determine which extension it is.
# After all desired extensions/themes are synchronized to each profile, navigate up to both profile's root folder and rename the "extensions.ini" and "extensions.sqlite" files to "extensions.ini.OLD" and "extensions.sqlite.OLD" respectively.
# Restart the browser with each profile to insure that they now both have the desired synchronized extensions/themes.
The problem being now, that when you navigate to "Troubleshooting Information" you get an online web page and not a means to open a profile.

I have two iphones using the same computer and I can only find a backup for my iphone and not my girlfriends.  She uses itunes a lot more often then I do but cant find it.  Really need some help.  Shouldnt her apps and details be saved online in the itunes store?  Even her apps wont appear

If you create an Apple ID for your daughter, signing out of the existing Apple ID with the iTunes & App Store on her iPhone will not change anything on your iPhone.
All apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps.
If she starts using her Apple ID to download apps, when there is an app update for an app on her iPhone that was downloaded with the current shared Apple ID, she will need to use that Apple ID and password to download the app updates.

  • I have two users on the same MAC and want to have separate ITunes libraries stored on my time capsule.  what's the best way to ensure that is done?

I have 2 users on a MAC each with separate accounts (email, photo, ITunes) and I want to migrate my ITUnes Library over to a time capsule so that each usewr still has their own library bu don't want to duplicate songs.  What is the best way to have both Itunes pointed to separate libraries both stored on the Time Capsule?

A bit of basics on iTunes.  iTunes does 99% of what you see through a library.itl file in the iTunes folder.  This file is a database and in it are references to the actual media files.  These files can be anywhere in theory, but if you have iTunes set to default then they are nicely organized in media folders in the iTunes folder.  You have probably moved them to some central shared location in the past, then built up two individual libraries around that central location.
iTunes is very fussy about a person dragging files to a different location, and that goes double if the other location is on a different drive.  You can move files, but it is best to let iTunes do it so it can keep track.  If this was just for one person I'd say go into preferences, select the other drive for media location, then close preferences. My understanding (never done this before) is iTunes will then ask you if you want to move your media.  Say yes and iTunes will move it and keep track of it -- for your library.  Now when you go to the other person's library, it opens and you see loads of ! because their library is still looking for the media on the same  drive as the library is located on.  I don't think it will work (but you could always try) to re-assign the media location to the external drive because the reference in the database is to look for such-and-such a file on the internal drive.  iTunes did that for the first library as part of the move, but not for the second one.  Note that typically when you want to move a single user's collection from drive to drive we advise moving the whole iTunes folder, library files and all, to another drive, but you don't have that structure.
So I'm not sure what to advise.  If it were me and I was absolutely gung-ho on doing this I would re-assign the media with one library.  Then edit the .xml version of the library file for the second library so it points to the new file locations and import this into a fresh iTunes library for the second user.  This isn't the perfect solution because nominally the .xml version does not 1005 replicate all the characteristics of the original .itl file (which cannot be edited).
Or maybe some other user bas a better idea.

  • I have two cameras of the same model and want to separate out the photos taken on each one. Is this possible?

I have a Canon and my husband has a Canon, and they are the same model (mistake!)
I imported his photos into my library (I'm the keeper of the photos), and now I want to seperate out his photos from mine.
To make matters worse, the dates are the same (since we travel together) and the file numbers overlap (because the world is out to get us).
They are thoroughly intermingled, but I'm hoping there is a super geeky way to seperate them.
    Ideas?

Try to separate the photos by "import session".
Assuming you can recognize some of the photos you took - perhaps there are some photos showing your husband and some photos showing you - these photos will tell you the import session. All photos you import into the library will be assigned an import session metadata tag, so his photos should have all the same import session tag.
To show this thag, set the Info panel in the Inspector to "Edit" and add it to your current Metadata view.
Once you found the Import Session for your husband's photos, create a smart album based on this meta data tag.
When I import my husband's photos in my library, I use a metadata preset on import, that will assign automatically a keyword, set his copyright, and adds a color code. So I can see at a glance, which photos are my photos and which are his.

  • Resetting username and password, but I have two iPhones using the same username and password. Can I delete the App Store user name on one device without affecting the other phone?

When we bought our daughter her iPhone I thought it would be a great idea for her to use my username and password for her App Store. As she is learning to download and search off apps, it appears that this May not hand been a good idea as the apps I have on MY iPhone, are showing as already downloaded and on our cloud. I'd prefer to change the username on her device, but in looking I am noticing that I will probably be deleting the username and password on both of our devices and then I will have to reset for both of us. Am I correct?

  • I have two phones under the same apple ID and I want to put them on two separate apple IDs. how do I do this?

I have two phones under the same apple ID and I want to put them on separate apple IDs, how do I do this??

If you sign out of an Apple ID under Settings > iCloud, you should be prompted for an option to 'Keep on my iPhone' in regards to Contacts and other related data.  Then, when signing in with another Apple ID on that same iPhone, you should be prompted to 'Merge'.  If you do both, then you won't lose any Contacts, and the iCloud Contacts will then be merged into the new Apple ID iCloud, but also will stay on the old Apple ID iCloud.
In the future, it might be best to post your own question thread instead of bumping a thread that is over two years old.

  • Can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  Yes, there is more to the story.

I have an iMac, and iPhone.  I've had my Apple ID for a few years.
My wife got an iPhone 4S a few months back and the salesperson at Verizon set her Apple ID the same as mine, but gave her a different password.  I don't know if this was ok, but that is what happened.
So, yesterday, we both upgraded to IOS6 and I had no problem logging in to my iPhone with my Apple ID.  When my wife went to log in, she was told that she was entering the wrong password. We entered the password over and over again and still was wrong.
The question is... can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  (I have the feeling her iPhone is thinking that since it's my Apple ID, it wants my password.)
If not, can I still set up a new Apple ID for her even through she's had the iPhone for a few months?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You shold follow your feelings, its probably right most of the time.
You can have 5 different devices hucked upp to one Apple ID. What I have done is that my wife and I have one Apple ID, when I bye a new app on my phone, She gets it to. Thats nice.
You can allways set upp a new Apple ID for your wife.

  • Two computers share the same wi-fi Modem . When computer A reads a message it is marked as read on both PC's, not allowing computer B to see what must be read.

Two computers share the same WI-fi Modem . When computer A reads a message it is marked as read on both PC's, not allowing computer B to see what must still be read. Email is Thunderbird.
Please help, Thank you for this online support option

Imap wasn't designed for this kind of multi user situation. It assumes that you the account owner will be using it to manage one account via multiple devices. So once you have read a message it has been read, regardless of which device you were using at the time.
You appear to be describing a situation where you want more than one user to read each message, without anyone knowing if anyone else has read it or even dealt with it. Frankly, I can't imagine a set of circumstances where this workflow would make sense or be useful.
You can do various things such as manually setting messages as unread, or moving them from one folder to another to indicate that they have been processed, but much of this relies on users being thorough and conscientious.
You may need to be running your own server to do this sort of email message managing, if you really need to fork a message so it gets to multiple recipients. Managing which users see a particular message is a job for a server, not the end-user's email client.

  • I have two ipads with the same apple id but my 3 year old uses one of them, how do i update hers witht he apps she can use instead of everything that is on min as well?

I have two ipads using the same apple id.  My 3 year old uses one to play learning games.  How do I set them up so my apps arent displayed on her ipad?

When you connect that iPad to iTUnes, go to the summary page and scroll down, there should be a box saying 'automatically update' or something to that effect. De select that.
With automatically update on, what you buy on one goes onto the other. but with that box off you can choose.
On the iPad itself, it's under
    Settings
    iTUnes and App Stores
and then you can choose what you want automatically updated between the two devices.
