I want to hook my xbox 360 up to my 2011 27" Cinema display, is this possible?

I have a 2011 27" Cinema Display and I want to know if there's any way at all to hook my Xbox-360 up to the display to use it. TIA.

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

  • I want to use my airport time capsule as a network attached storage solution, is this possible or do I need to connect a separate hard drive?

I want to use my airport time capsule as a network attached storage solution, is this possible or do I need to connect it to a separate hard drive?

The Time Capsule is by default a network hard drive, but it has no "brains" of it's own. So, it cannot function as a stand alone media server if that is what you are asking.
If you are also using the Time Capsule hard drive for Time Machine backups of your Mac(s), then there may be struggle for available space on the drive since it is not possible to partition the Time Capsule drive in a traditional manner.
If space is getting tight on the Time Capsule, it might be a good idea to connect a drive to the USB port on the Time Capsule and use that drive for your network storage needs.

Your Apple ID can be associated with up to 10 devices, including iOS devices, computers and Apple TV(s).  If you will still be within this limit, you can continue to share the ID across all your devices.  A caution about sharing your iCloud account, however: when you share an account any data you sync with the account is merged and the merged data appears on all devices sharing the account.  You may, for example, end up with each other's contacts and calendar events on your devices if you do this.
It's usually recommended that you share your iTunes account, but maintain separate iCloud accounts, as well as use different IDs for iMessage and FaceTime (to avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls).  Note: the ID you use for iTunes purchasing does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services such as iCloud, iMessage or FaceTime.  This article may be of interest in this regard: http://www.macstories.net/stories/ios-5-icloud-tips-sharing-an-apple-id-with-you r-family/.

If you had a Mac, you could get this & do what you want:

Must be something similar for Windows.

  • Hooking up xbox 360 to my mac

i was wondering if there was a way to hook up an xbox 360 to my mac so I can use the macbook pro's screen as a tv of sorts. I am in college and dont have a tv, nor want to cart my 360 to the lounge to hook it up. it would be easiest to hook it up to the macbook pro but i am not sure what cables are needed or how to go about doing it, if at all possible. feedback is appreciated

In short form, the answer is no you dont want to do this. It is possible by using a tv type input or capture card which can either interface with usb or express card slot. The extreme downfall to doing this is there will be significant lag. Such as when you press a button on the controller for the character to shoot, you wont actually see it on the screen for over a second. The reason for this is the capture card has to convert the video signal into the something the computer can display, and this takes time. Again its possible, but the delay would make it impossible to play proficiently... My advise as a college student my self is to hit up a garage sale for a cheap tv to put in your dorm..

  • Looking for descent, affordable wired router so I can hook up XBox 360-iMac

I just got an XBox 360, and I'd like to use the XBox Live features. Could anyone suggest a dependable, wired router that wouldn't cost much more than fifty dollars? I really have no need to go wireless, and besides I'd have to buy the wireless adaptor for the XBox 360 if I did. There's also usually at least one or two Bit Torrents running on my G5 iMac.
More importantly, I'd like to know if having the XBox Live online would interfere with the bit torrents running on the iMac, and should I expect to see a major decrease in upload/download speed on running torrents?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Visit DealMac and see what router deal they have located. Typically in the Sunday paper you can find several for $20 or less after rebate.

  • Is there a way to play xbox 360 on a macbook pro with retina display 15 inch?

  • Playing xbox 360 on macbook pro 15 inch retina display with hdmi

Is it possible to be able to plug my xbox360 into my macbook pro 15 inch retina display with the hdmi cable and then play it on my computer because i have an hdmi cable and dont want to go buy the eye tv for another $150 and if it's not possible does anyone know of another way for me to be able to play my xbox360 on it

No. The HDMI port on the MBP-R is an output port used to send images to an external monitor, not an input port.
As far as I know, the only Mac that has ever had a video input capability is the iMac. Some years' models have had the ability to act as a monitor for another computer. I don't have one, but it doesn't look like current iMacs offer this feature (based on a quick skim of the Apple Store pages).

  • Hi, I use BootCamp for my windows 7, I have a Macbook Pro 2012, and I want to use a second display, is this possible with my Mac using Windows?

I just dont see a port usable for a second screen. I want to hook it up to my TV to view photos and movies. What can I do?

What do you mean you don't see a port? Does your computer have a HDMI or a ThunderBolt/Mini Display port? You can use these to add a second display. Which one you use depends on what input ports your tv has.

  • Want to use a TV as a third monitor for Digital Cinema Display....HELP!

    Hey Guys,
Here's my set up, please tell me where I am going wrong:
I have 2 22" LCD Monitors that I use for my main work. I added a second card to my MacPro so that I could add an additional monitor. Now I have a DVI to HDMI cable going to my Plasma that I want to use as playback for clients and such. Here's where it gets weird... In After Effects, I can use the Plasma in Digital Cinema Preview for Playback and Previews...works great. Then, when I open up Final Cut I have problems. First, when I go to "Digital Cinema Desktop - Full Screen" it display one frame and stay on that one frame even during playback. So then I changed my Sequence settings thinking my TV couldn't handle that Sequence. No I get a White Screen with no playback at all, not even the one frame. Now the weird part is that if I change the TV to my "Main Screen" in Monitor Prefs, and set Digital Cinema to "Main" it plays back fine. So, if I can playback with it as my main, why can't I playback otherwise? And...if it works in After Effects, why is Final Cut Having Problems with it? It's set to "All Frames" and "Desktop Mirroring". Thoughts? I have seen this set up work before...what am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to find out much the same thing. I would assume that anyone knows the answers can help both of us.
I'm purchasing a new Mac Pro desktop. I also use final cut but not after effects.
I actually have 4 monitors to choose from. 2 Dell 19" - One 27" Apple cinema display and a spector High Def 1080i monitor that has a DVI input.
I would like to use one of the Dell's as my primary home desk top monitors with folders and all the usual dock and stuff. I would like to use the cinema display as my primary final cut work surface.
I would like to use the HD monitor to show HD footage and use it as a client monitor. Remember it has a DVI input.
I've talked with the folks at the Local Apple store and they are not sure if I will get a real HD signal on the HD monitor if I add a second radeon 2700 card to the computer and take on of those DVI outputs and attach it to the HD monitor.
If thats not possible can I use the apple cinema display as my playback monitor?
Or do I have to go with a conversion box like a mxo, AJA board, or decklink box.
The goal is to have two monitors for the program and One monitor in HD for the client monitor,
    Thanks everyone in advance.
    Rich

  • Is ti possible to label a set of tape with a specific media family. For eg. I want media family'xyz' to use tape only from location '1-6'. Is this possible in OSB

-Is it possible to label a set of tape with a specific media family. For eg. I want mediafamily 'abc' to use tape only from location '1-6' and media family 'xyz' to use tapes from location '7-12'. Is this possible in OSB.
-If not through media family, is there any other way to label tapes with customized lablels.
-Is it possible for a backup job to use the tapes from a set of tapes and backup should fail if the tapes are not found from the set. Even if the library has empty tapes.
I have read about Volume set, but I believe its something that is created automatically when the backup spans to the next volume after current volume is full.

  • I have a mac book pro i want to have another monitor added and open garageband with 2 projects open is this possible.

I have a mac book pro I want to use 2 monitors and have garageband open with 2 projects is this possible?

GarageBand can open only one project at a time.  Project are treated differently from audio files; you can have many audio files open in QuickTime or other audio players, but GarageBand will always close the current project when you open a new one.
If you have the newest GarageBand 10.0 and the previous version, GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can open one project in GarageBand 10.0 and one project in GarageBand '11.
However, you cannot drag and top between the windows or transfer media. And once a project has been converted to GarageBand 10 format, it can no longer be opened by GarageBand '11.
