  • Dual Screen editing? I want to hook up another Mac flatscreen.

    Right now I have a G4 duel 800 superdrive.
IT has a 17 inch Mac studio flat screen plugged into the back.
i want to hook another of the same up for duel screen editing.
How do I accomplish this if there is only on port in the back of the tower for the already connected studio flat screen? I see there is another older style port next to it for a conventional pc monitor( not sure what type of port that is called...maybe VGA??), however macs monitors are powered through the computer...so what do I do?
Is there a splitter for the already connected Mac Studio flatscreen?

    Hi
the stock graphics card in a dual 800MHz G4 has an ADC connector and VGA connector. Unfortunately whichever graphics card(s) you have, you can only power one ADC monitor directly from the computer.
One option is to buy a replacement graphics card such as the Radeon 9000 which has an ADC connector and DVI connector. You'd also need Apple's DVI to ADC adapter to connect the second ADC monitor, which is fairly expensive (around $99). The Radeon 9000 has also been discontinued but may be available via eBay.
Another option is to buy a second graphics card such as the Radeon 9200 (PCI with a DVI connector) and use both cards, but again you'd need Apple's DVI to ADC adapter.
Finally I believe you can actually buy a VGA to ADC conversion box but they're even more expensive ($300) and you'd be converting an analogue signal to digital, presumably with some loss of quality compared to a direct digital connection.
I guess another option would be to buy a VGA or DVI monitor so you wouldn't need the adapter. Unfortunately there isn't a cheap or simple solution if you want to use a second ADC display, as the computer can only provide enough power for one display.

  • I have an old (late 2008) Mac OX S and I want to hook it to my HDTV, but I get no signal??

I have an old (late 2008) Mac OX S and I want to hook it to my HDTV, but I get no signal??
    Please help!!

I know I had an issue trying to connect a VGA cable to my HDTV, if I did not already have the TV input switched to the VGA input BEFORE I plugged it into my Mac.  Because the TV had not been taking to the port, it was not sending the right signals to the Mac.
When I would later switch the TV input to the VGA after the Mac was connected, I got messed up video.
I'm just speculating this might be related.
But playing 20 questions (some of which have already been asked by X423423X):
    What Mac
    What TV
What kind of TV input (HDMI, VGA, DVI, other?)
What kind of adaptor are you using on your Mac
Did you try with the TV input already switched to the correct input source before attaching to your Mac?

Can I hook up New Mac Mini to my old imac to share the display? I want to upgrade my iMac since I can not add more memories... but thought may be I can add New Mac Mini and use that along with my old iMac.. Will this work?

If your configuration supports Target Display mode, use that. If not, not without a standalone monitor and a product such as ScreenRecycler.

  • Hooking a new Mac mini onto my iMac

    Hi there kind people!
i'm pretty sure there are several discussions out there considering the possibility to hook a new Mac mini on to iMacs. However mine is pretty specific, so I'd though to give it a go and just spit out!
I'm considering buying a new Mac mini. However I don't like the idea of buying a new monitor, because I've got an 24" iMac standing on my desk. Is it possible to use the iMac as a monitor for the Mac mini and what would it require?
I've got a 24-inch iMac, from the beginning of 2009. It is, of course, running on OS X Lion.
I hope you people can help me out!
Thanks a bunch and have a splendid day!
    Greetings,
    HarmenSimon

    Try a reset:
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds
    2. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)

  • I just bought a recertified Mac Mini, and I wonder if anyone here knows if it's possible to hook up my Mac flat screen LCD monitor to it using what adapters? I currently have a DVI to ADC adapter connected to my G4 Powermac.

I just bought a recertified Mac Mini core duo - it's not the newer model-, and I wonder if anyone here knows if it's possible to hook up my Mac flat screen LCD monitor to it  and using what adapters? I currently have a DVI to ADC adapter connected to my G4 Powermac.
The company I bought it from is not Apple, and I may regret that. It was in my price range, though.
This is the first time I've used this community, and I've been a Mac owner since 2000. Thanks in advance!

when you say "Mac flat screen LCD", do you mean this:

  • I have a macbook 13"screen purchased in 2007; I want to hook it up to my HDTV; I purchased a mini display port to hdmi adaptor but it does not fit.   what kind of adaptor will work for this model?

I have a Macbook, 13" screen, purchased in 2007.    I want to hook it up to my HDTV; I purchased a mini display port to hdmi adapter but it does not fit.   Any suggestions?

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

  • I am trying to connect a Windows 7 / 64 bit to an Epson printer on my Mac.  The printer is hooked into the Mac via USB; the Mac is networked to a Linksys wireless router with an ethernet cable, as is the Windows box. Any tips on how to do this?

I am trying to connect a Windows 7 / 64 bit to an Epson printer on my Mac.  The printer is hooked into the Mac via USB; the Mac is networked to a Linksys wireless router with an ethernet cable, as is the Windows box. I installed the current Bonjour printer services software on the Windows machine, and separately installed the driver software for the Epson printer on the WIndows machine.  Running the bonjour wizard, I get an alert saying 'I don't have sufficient access to my computer to connect to the selected printer'.
The printer has 'sharing' turned on from the Mac end; this works with a Powerbook via the wireless connection.  Sharing is also turned on in the Windows printer control panel for this printer (under properties).  The Mac is a G5 running 10.5.8.  When I try to print a page from the Windows machine it gets hung in the print queue.
Any advice how to proceed would be appreciated!
    thx,

  • I want to download podcast on Mac and want to stream them on my iPad

Hi all I want to store podcast on Mac and want to watch it on iPad. but don't want to store them on iPad.
I just want to stream the stored podcast on Mac to iPad, that way I want to save space on my small 16gb iPad. If I download them on iPad it takes lots of space.
I have already subscribed to Podcast on iTunes and they automatically shows up in Podcast app of iPad, but the problem is it also starts downloading there on iPad too. I want to stop that.. I just want them to get downloaded on Mac only, and want to stream them via wifi to my iPad.
Is it possible?? Does my request make any sense??? Please advice.. thank you..

  • Want to use Outlook for Mac 2011

    Hello!
I want to use Outlook for Mac 2011 for my calendar, email, and contacts on my Macbook Air, iPhone 6, and iPad Air.  Is this possible to sync with all these devices with this program?  I am more organized with Outlook than using the different Apple programs.  It has more options.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

If you have outlook on all 3 devices, should be okay. However, I am suggesting you to probably try the Apple's and get used to it as you are using all notebook, phoneme and tab with Apple. Might save you some money with that.
