  • I want to switch my Apple ID email address with my "rescue" email address, but it won't let me - how do I do it?

I want to switch my Apple ID email address with my "rescue" email address, but it won't let me - how do I do it? Thanks

As far as I understand the way that it works, you won't be able to do this. You are trying to switch two email addresses that are already associated with your Apple ID and therefore, cannot be switched as such.
Each address is already in use, you so can't make the switch. If both email accounts are active and still work, why rock the boat anyway?

  • How to set up a new apple e-mail address when already have an existing Apple ID

    Hello
Thank you for taking a look at my query - I have searched many posts but not found a specific answer to my question - so please help!
    My dilemma:
I am in effect running everything smoothly - I am already on iCloud and have an @me.com mail address.
The problem arises in that I need to change my name (due to a divorce) and hence my e-mail address -  I would like to use my maiden name for obvious reasons!
    So what have I tried?:
I have set up a new Apple ID using a 'hotmail' address, as you need an existing address to set an ID, but would actually like a new 'apple' address. How do I do this? Since I have registered all my devices (iMac, iPad 3 and iPhone 3GS) with iCloud already using my married name ID it seems I am unable to get another appleID? Is this true? Is there a way around this?
    Concerns:
I have many communications with lawyers and ex and various other things I would like to keep on my existing apple ID/mail account (and also itunes etc) I still need to be able to access this information. I am happy to keep this  apple ID active at the same time as having the new ID if this is possible on all the same devices? Currently however I do not know how to do this, i.e. run two mail accounts through iCloud OR ideally transfer my info to the new ID - however from reading around I believe this latter (logical) option may be impossible?
    So:
... I need a knight (or maiden) in  shining armour to help me understand my options, answer the Q's above and provide the steps I have to follow to do this as I am no IT guru! And as there are many similar Qs without a clear answer I'm sure you will gain lots of points!
    Thanking you kindly in advance!
PS. Apple if you are reading this please can you do something about this situation as there seem to be many questions around this issue. Unfortunately divorce and name changes are a frequent part of life these days and it would be good if you can accommodate this!

OK, so I realised I was still within my 90days of being able to get support from Apple due to recent iPad3 purchase.
So between what I have gleaned from this forum and what I have learnt from the support call here I hope is a comprehensive one stop shop  answer to the question... "How do I get another Apple e-mail address ?" It's not straight forward but bear with me as you will get a result (also if anyone with IT prowess can offer further advice or clarification please do reply to this so we keep all info in the same place)... right -  we shall begin:
First a few points to bear in mind/wise words that I wish I was aware of before:
You preferably do not want more than one Apple ID so that syncing etc is straight forward. SO create an e-mail address that you will be happy to have no matter what, whether you are married/divorced (and yes it unfortunately could happen...) etc...
    So...
    1. First go to www.myinfo.apple.com, change your country as required and click on manage your account. Log-in. Should go straight to your Name, ID and e-mail tab.
    2. OK you are now presented with one of two scenarios....
    a) If your AppleID and primary e-mail address  is a me.com (or mac.com) then you are unlikely to have an edit option next to this line - follow point 3. Another ID has to be generated, and unfortunately (as Winston Churchill above rightly pointed out, the problem that you will have on the whole is that any purchases you make from the iTunes Store under your previous account, will be inaccessible on many of your devices. - IF however all you wanted is a new e-mail address and you are happy to keep running your old ID at the same time - there is a way around this .... read on to point 3)
    b) If your AppleID and primary e-mail address is not a me.com (or mac.com) then - follow point 4. This is the better option to have, hop skip and jump with glee as you will in effect have the same ID account and syncing will not be an issue. But note that your new ID will not be editable going forward so head my words of wisdom above.
NB. If you already have more than one ID and one of the 'Apple ID and primary e-mail' is editable i.e. 2b) then choose this option to change as it is simpiler to manage.
    3. OK lots of steps here and explanations:
    i) You need to create another Apple ID - there are two ways of doing this a) if you go to your iphone or ipad settings > iCloud > delete your account (Don't worry you are effectively only signing out and not deleting) (you'll be given an option what to do with your contacts) > The page will then give you an option to create a new Apple ID.... follow the steps, and you will get a new me.com  AppleID and primary e-mail address.
    b) If you do not have an iphone or ipad - use your computer: Go to sytem preferences > icloud > sign out of account (again you will be given an option to keep contacts on the computer etc. do what is appropriate for you). An iCloud window  should then pop up - and there is an option to 'Create an Apple ID'... follow the steps, in 2nd step (after date of birth input)  go for the free iCloud  option and do not use an existing e-mail address (e.g. hotmail or gmail)... as it then gets more complicated (I did go down this route as I didn't know any better - so I can explain if you wish to know - just ask) - continue with the steps and you will get a new me.com AppleID and primary e-mail address.
ii) Now assuming you have an itunes account and other devices... and you will want to sync everything across devices... then ensure you log back into your OLD account and use this as your main  account on all devices. This will keep all things synced between devices with no problems.
iii) To get your new e-mail account active go to all your devices and computer and just add the new me.com address as another account:
    a) on iphone and ipad: settings > mail, contacts, calendars > "add account"
    b) on computer assuming you use mail: Mail>preferences>account information> hit the '+' under the left hand account box and fill in the details... You will then effectively have two mail boxes running in mail - your previous and new one. What I have noticed is that you can drag and drop (which will copy) mailboxes you created in your old account into your new account - which is great as you can keep the stored messages to hand and effectively you can taper down use of the old account (or use as you wish) over time and eventually not notice the old account is in the background.
Hey presto you have a new e-mail address AND your devices are syncing itunes, photostream etc...
    4) So - much better option....
    i) create a new Apple ID as per point 3i) above.
ii) go back to www.myinfo.apple.com, change your country as required and click on manage your account. Log-in with old ID. Under Apple ID and primary e-mail adress - click edit and now insert your new me.com Apple ID. This will now be both your ID and primary e-mail address. This is where my knowledge (gleaned from this Forum) stops on this option - as unfortunately it did not apply to me. But I think it will get you where you want!
Hope all this info helps rather than hinders!! It definitely would have helped me
    Enjoy.

  • Delivery problems with Apple Store mailing address

    Hello all,
I just sent the following letter to Apple; I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem (missing mailing address lines) ?
    Dear Apple,
I'd like to point out a potential problem in Apple Store mailing addresses.
During the past two years, I have now witnessed three (3) separate occasions, where the shipping address I give in my Apple Store order does not correctly end up in the actual mailing label.
The most recent case was today, when I (by sheer luck) received my Logic Pro 7.2 upgrade. The address I originally gave in my order was like this:
    John Doe
    My Home Street 123
    MyCompany Ltd.
    Helsinki, 00440
    Finland
The first line is my name, the second line the street address, the third line my company, and the last line city and zip code.
However, the address that was in the envelope goes like this:
    John Doe
    MyCompany Ltd.
    Helsinki, 00440
    Finland
So the problem is, that the street address never made it to the mailing label. The envelope came addressed to me and my company; no street address at all. Fortunately the local post office knew where to find us.
I've seen this happen at least two times before, and it's always either the company name or the street address that's missing. They are not only missing from the mailing label in the envelope, they are also missing from the actual Apple Delivery Note that's inside the package. So it seems, that somewhere in your mailing process (at least for Finland) one of the address lines simply gets deleted.
I haven't (yet) lost anything valuable, but I'm getting really uncertain if I have the courage to order anything more valuable from your web store.
I hope you can fix this A.S.A.P. (or at least remove the extra address line from the order form, so that users won't put any crucial information into it).
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

You may want to give Apple a call directly in Finland at (358) 0800 96162. Posts in this forum won't usually get forwarded to the correct people, as this is merely a user to user support forum.

  • If I need to have some official letter (or e-mail)from apple technical service, what is the e-mail address?

For official letter from apple technical support, what is e-mail the address?
I have some case to prove from apple official opinion.
Please let me know.. I try to find that in whole apple site, I couldn't

Okay we're sorta making progress. Barely.
I chatted with someone from support based on your suggestion and she was able to disconnect my AppleID and primary e-mail address.
My "primary e-mail address" on the AppleID site is now listed as my @me.com account.
However, it's asking me to verify it, but no matter how many times I click the "resend verification e-mail" link, nothing has shown up.
If I try to change it to an alternate e-mail, like my @bellsouth.net account, clicking "save" to save those settings does nothing, and it reverts back to @me.com
Nothing at all gets through to my mac.com account.
This is especially troubling since I updated to Mountain Lion this morning. One of the first programs I used, Messages, asked me to verify my AppleID by checking my @mac.com e-mail.
    What a headache.

  • I want to stop the extra part of an E-Mail Address from appearing at beginning during manual type entry

A couple of upgrades ago I noticed when I started typing an E-Mail Address manually, just as before, it starts coming up with suggestions. NOW, when I select, it adds the search typing in front of the Name and E-Mail Address. Before the Name and E-Mail Address replaced the search typing. Is still does the replace IF there is MORE than one possible displayed and I click on the desired.
If I type tru I get what I want BUT it enters "tru >> Fire Company Trustees <[email protected]>" into the address line. I put the quotes to show what is actually included, which is the letters tru AND the >>. I now have to remember to go back and "clean up", getting rid of the "tru >>" so it says Fire Company Trustees <[email protected]>
    Very annoying!

Are you using 34.4? if not please update and see if you still have the issue. As I understand it 34.4 Fixes this.

  • What are my e-mail addresses if I move domain from Yahoo to iWeb?

I have been using Yahoo for years and have 2 e-mail addresses associated with my domain there. I want to move my domain to Mobile Me but don't want to lose these addresses. I can't find where this question is answered: I have domain www.gillin.us and [email protected] as one of my e-mail addresses. If I use I iWeb to move my domain, can I set up the same e-mail address and one other with @gillin.us on MobileMe? Thanks

MobileMe is only of use for publishing personal websites and doesn't have the facility to set up web mail and email forwards.
If your website is a business one you would be better to use a good commercial hosting service.....

I don't blame you for wanting to move away from Yahoo as they really are useless.

  • HT5621 Steps to change the primary email address for Apple ID, want to use alternative email (even after removed from lisetd mail addresses it will not allow me. current Apple ID mail address does no longer exist therefore changing required

apple ID does not allow me to change primary listed email address, this address does no longer exist and now need to get a secendary listed email address to become primery.

I had a similar problem, which prevented me changing my personal data on iCloud/apple etc. I found the answer on the apple web-site, "appleid.apple.com".
This site lets you change your primary country, and so lets you use the app store.

  • Consolidate Apple E-mail Addresses

I am trying to use one email address across all my Apple platforms, and it is a major pain in the $$$.  Something that should be so simple...
How can I use one email address for my iCloud and iTunes accounts?
My bet is this is cause by some kind of contract requirement, separate databases, etc.
Currently, there is an old email address in there and I cannot change it to the one I am currently using.  I do not want to create separate email accounts for every single Apple feature.  Additionally, I should be able to change that address anytime.
I did not receive a receipt from the iTunes Store recently because it went to the wrong email address.

    darcyfitzpatrick wrote:
I do have both of those, but only iCloud shows up in my Contacts sidebar, and addresses are being sent there so I guess it's the default. Funny how this stuff is all so murky.
    Not murky at all:
And as the On My Mac account does not show then it is empty. (It's visible if it is the default or if it has any content)
I haven't come across your last point, (no email address) so no help there I'm afraid.

  • HT5312 what if my rescue mail address is wrong ? I did typing mistake  . That mail address is not correct .

You won't be able to change it until you can answer 2 of your questions, so you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then try Apple ID Account Security
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down this page to correct your rescue email address : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

  • Why does not my iCloud emailaddress change when I changed my Apple ID mail address?

I got a new mail aqddress and changed my Apple ID. My ICloud emailadress did not change so nowe I cannot log in to iCloud, and I cannot find a way to update my iCloud address.

You have to sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud on all your devices On a Mac, click the 'Sign out' button; on an iOS device, click the stupidly labelled 'Delete account' - this will not delete your account from the server, only from the device.
Then sign back in again with the new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac/Device but will reappear when you sign back in.
