I want to install a learn software that runs normally in windows?

I am trying to instal a lern software for my kid on a mac that runs only on windows. is there a possibilty to download it and make it run?

Have your cake and eat it too!   With the Intel Macs, you can run windows in a virtual machine. You will need our own copy of Windows.
Don't miss the free VirtualBox.
"VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware. " Runs Windows on Mac OS.

Parallels:

& some catalog order places sell Parallels for 9.99 when you buy a mac.
With VMware Fusion, run the most demanding Mac and Windows applications side-by-side at maximum speeds without rebooting

Wine emulates the windows api's on an intel Mac.
"Wine lets you run Windows software on other operating systems. With Wine, you can install and run these applications just like you would in Windows."

You are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac.  No version of  iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs.  I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher.  The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac.  I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.

Which generation Nano and what software are you referring to? There are no downloadable apps on a Nano.

  • I have a G4 with 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade to 10.5. I am using MYM software that runs in 9, Will 10.5 support 9?

I have a G4 MacMini with 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade to 10.5. I am using MYM software that runs in 9, Will 9 run in 10.5?

How often are you using MYM in 9?  You could install 10.4 on a partition or external and bootup to do your MYM work.  Run everything else in 10.5.  This is how I transitioned my remaining 9 apps to newer apps for later OS X versions.

  • Installing Tungston E Software Installation CD on my Windows XP home computer

For sseveral years, I hot sync'ed my Tungston E to my office computer.
I now need to use my home computer to do this function.
When I attempted to install the Installation CD that came with my Palm, the installation hung somewhere around the product registration.
So then I attempted to download the desktop and hot sync from the download area and when I try to Install that, I get an installshield error:
"1607: Unable ti install InstallShield Scripting Runtime"
    Any suggestions...
    Thanks in advance.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
I would recommend downloading it from the web site, this way you have the latest version.
When your PC got stuck installing the initial version of Palm software it may have caused some issues, thus it will not allow you to install the version you tried downloading. You may want to check your Add/ Remove Programs list inside your Control Panel to see if you have Palm in there. If you do, remove it. If you don't, let me know so we can do further troubleshooting.
If you are able to remove it from the Add/ Remove programs list try downloading and installing Palm Desktop at http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk414.html.
Let me know what happens and I hope this resolves your issue.

  • I want to install winXP to my iMAC running Lion OS.  I will use BootCamp.  My winXP uses 2 disks with XP on one CD and SP2 on the other.  Bootcamp seems to say use a one disk version.   What can I do about this paradox?

I want to install winXP on my iMac.  It has OS 10.7.2 and uses a 27" display.  I will use Bootcamp and create a separate partion for winXP.  Bootcamp instructions call for a single disk winXP CD with Service Pack 2 on it.  My version has winXP on one disk and Service pack 2 on another.  Will this be a problem?  If it is, is there a solution?
                                                                            Tnx...K6jpj

If you just bought an iMac a week ago new, it WILL NOT support XP unless XP is inside a virtual machine.  End of story.  You will need Windows 7 if you plan to run Windows natively on any Mac in 2011.
Used models will run XP, though--from the Intel inception in '06 through the middle part of 2010.
However, consider that Microsoft wants XP gone--and badly so--even as it is extending security hotfix support through April 2014.  This gives you two years and four months before you have to throw down for whatever's current at that time.
Windows 7 will give you a much better experience (dare I say more Mac-like?) than XP, as it seems to be better organized.  The Taskbar, for instance, has become more like the OS X Dock in that you can "pin" things to it in a straightforward manner, unlike XP's seldom-used Quick Launch traybar.
7's also built to take advantage of all the snazzy new hardware you now have.
But don't let me sell it to you.  It's really your call.
    Nate

  • Trying to download software that was written for windows

I am trying to download software that will enable remote access for security cameras. The software was written for Windows XP and Vista. Is there a program I can download other than parallels that will help me open the software?

    Running Windows:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak 2 or Vista. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not yet fully developed for the Mac - some features are not yet implemented - but it does work otherwise.
    6. Last is Q. Q is a freeware emulator that is compatible with Intel Macs. It is much slower than the virtualization software, Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system.
See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion.
Boot Camp is only available with Leopard. The Boot Camp Beta that was used with Tiger has expired and is no longer available for use. So contrary to the other poster's comment, Boot Camp isn't truly "free." You must purchase Leopard to get it.

  • Want to Create a Skin Button that runs JavaScript

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm using RoboHelp 9.
I found a script (see below) that creates an email and automatically inserts the URL from where the user is sending the email.
I pasted the script directly into the HTML of a page to test it worked – and it does.
However, I now want to add a button to a skin that runs this javascript for each page, and have no idea where to begin to get the button to run correctly. I have been able to create a button on a skin, and can see that there are javascript options but that’s as far as it goes…
    <script type="text/javascript">/*<![CDATA[*/document.write("<a href=\"mailto:[email protected]?subject=ACME%20Application%20("+document.title+")&body="+location.href+"%0A%0A"+"\">Send Feedback</a>")/*]]>*/</script>
    Thanks everyone in advance.
    Emma

    Hi Peter,
Thanks so much for your information - it has worked perfectly!
The only thing that wasn't obvious in the snippet information was where to actually put the script text on the Action tab. At first I pasted the script into the Inline Javascript option in the bottom section. This did nothing so I pasted the script into the OnClick action option. This worked perfectly.
Is it okay to leave the script text in the OnClick option?
    Thanks again.

  • Installing LabVIEW DSC 8.6 Run Time on Windows XP Embedded flash memory

I'm trying to install LabVIEW DSC 8.6 Run Time on an embedded PC running Windows XP Embedded. This has a small local disk (c), so I would like to install DSC Run Time on a secondary flash memory drive (d). The installer tells me that I don't have enough free space on drive c, but I cannot browse to select drive d. What do I need to do to get this installed?
    Thanks,
    Josh

The DSC module can't easily be installed to external flash memory. You'll want to move any extra data onto the flash drive to free up space on the internal memory for installing the DSC module.

  • Installing OSX on a PRO running only on Windows XP

This summer I got a MacPro and due to the needs at our institute I had to install Windows. Due to a formatting mistake I only installed XP and updated with bootcamp. Now I want to install OSX (I have legitimate discs) but cant get past the logo after boot up with disc inside. I have reformatted and reinstalled windows a few times but no change. Hope anyone here has some bright idea's.....

1 Boot from the OS X install disc.
2 From the Install menu, select 'Disk Utility'
3 In Disk Utility, click on the drive icon, not the volume icon. The drive icon should have a name something like '500 GB ST500xxxx'; the volume icon should have whatever name you gave the WinXP volume.
4 Select 'Partition' from the tabs on the right.
5 Select 'One Partition' from the pull-down menu. Click on the 'Options' button, select GUID.
6 Repartition your drive. Warning: _This will delete all data currently on the drive_.
7 Select 'Install' from the main menu. You should be back in the installer and can install OS X normally from there.

  • Renew; installing OSX on a PRO running only on Windows XP

Back to the drawing board with my older post (see title). I re-formatted the HDD on another PRO and installed a fresh version of OSX on the drive. It boots without issues on that PRO hence no HDD issues. After putting this HDD in my PRO same problem occurs, it runs perfect on Windows XP (including all features) but wont boot past the Apple logo after boot up on the installed OSX (same with newly installed OSX on external drive and disc). Can it be a hardware issue? If yes how can i check this when the PRO only runs on XP?

On the optical disk(s) that came with your Mac, there is a program called Apple Hardware Test. It is accessed by booting this optical disk while holding the D key (instructions are on the disk).

  • Blackberry Link keeps wanting to install the same upgrade that is already installed???

Anybody know how to get Link to quit trying to install the same upgrade?

Sometimes it can be because you might have deleted one of stock apps pushed by your mobile provider, or because you deleted the twitter or facebook application.
If you have, let it reinstall and then just move those apps you don't want to see to a folder on the homescreen.
Or, it could be because Link and updates can just be buggy at times.
