I want to known if i can buy a new mac book using my old one?

I want to buy a new mac book, and i need if can use my old one to have a discount?

you can - it's calle Apple Recycling Program - they would give you a gift card with x amount of $$ in it and you can use it towards the purcase of you new macbook.
i do however, suggest you sell your old macbook privately so you can get more for it.
in any event, here's the link for Apple Recycling Program

  • Need help on buying a new mac or saving an old one

currently i have a mbp 15 inch 2.2GHz. i have carpal tunnel syndrome and my doctor said that i should get a slide out keyboard like a desktop computer. i was weighing in on my options.
save my mbp and just get some apple display or another display and a keyboard.the 30 inch display that apple puts out looks amazing but its HD so i wouldnt get the HD cause my video card is only the GeForce 8600M GT. but if i buy the 30 inch from apple i would be $1795.46 with the apple care and student discount. so that almost like getting a new imac.
i was also looking in to the new imac. the 2.93MHz 24 inch with the 512mb invidia video card everything else stock then of course the apple care and my student discount that would be $2089.71 with tax.
what do you think i should get ?

I have been following this discourse with some interest, and although your question is answered, I would still like to add my 2¢ worth if I may.
It seems to me that you have already received your diagnosis and recommendation from your doctor, so I don't think that we are in the business of diagnosing and prescribing anything. That has already been done by your doctor. My impression is that you were simply seeking additional insight from a computer savvy community to supplement what you were told by your doctor.
I do not have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome myself, but my mother-in-law did. She used a slide out keyboard with a wrist rest and a Logitech stationary mouse with a ball top, also with a wrist rest. This was in Win 98 days, so she was using a standard keyboard.
There are ergonomic keyboards on the market now, and it may be that one of these would be helpful to you. It looks like these reposition your hands and typing position slightly, and are supposed to be designed to relieve/prevent Carpal Tunnel pain when typing. They may also serve as a training mechanism to teach you a better typing position, but I don't really know. There are also a number of wrist rests available.
You can see a few of these on display at an office supply like Staples, and try out the display models to see if they seem to make a difference or not. There are of course many models available, and if you think one might be helpful to you, you could do some on line research, and possibly even post back with a question specifically on ergonomic keyboards and which ones seem to work the best as well as which ones will be Mac compatible. People with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome who use these things day in and day out would be best qualified to make recommendations. And anyone who has experienced Carpal Tunnel Syndrome personally is certainly well qualified to give you a certain amount of insight and advice.
Properly setting up the geometry of your workplace is in no way a contradiction of anything you have been told by your doctor. I think there may well be some trial and error involved in achieving what works best for you personally. But I suspect that in the end you can achieve quite a bit to alleviate your pain.
One thing you might try for free is to roll up a towel or something to use as a wrist rest and see if it provides any relief. If so, you might find it worth exploring some of the ergonomic options available to you.
    Good luck, and Happy Computing!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

I know you really want to go to an Apple store but you should consider www.johnlewis.com as you get free delivery and a two year warranty to boot!
I got mine from the store in Cambridge, but is they didn't have it in stock I would have brought it online from them.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • How can I add new games without overwriting the old ones?

I have just purchased two new games in the itunes store and although they are showing in the library (under applications) my previously purchased games are not. In Summary under games it will not let me choose selected games only 'all games' and when I press sync warns that the existing games will be replaced. How can I add these games without deleting the older ones? Also if I did want to remove a game from my ipod how do I do it?

    hardlyquinn wrote:
Part of the problem is that I can never sync the whole thing as I dont keep all my music in my library (it seems silly to have my enture cd collection on the computer).
Clearly it ISN'T silly as it avoid issues like you are having right now. If you need more space, get an external hard drive. To me it is much sillier to only have your stuff on the iPod and no where else as the iPod, as a small portable player, is much more likely to be dropped, lost, damaged, stolen, forgotten somewhere, etc.
While I am not familiar with the use of games on the iPod (I have never bought any) you can switch the iPod to manually manage and then you can add content to your iPod without losing what is already there. Perhaps it works for games as well.
But long term, I strongly suggest you keep all your stuff in your library so if you need to (you have to perform a restore on the iPod, you lose it and buy a new one, etc.) you can very easily sync it all back to the iPod when needed.
    Good luck,

  • Buying a new ipod, and selling my old one to a friend.

I have a 32 gig ipod touch.I plan to buy a 64 gig ipod touch.Do i need to do a restore on the 32 gig , to wipe my music and apps, so i can put them on my new ipod? Also when i connect the new ipod I assume it will recognize it as a new ipod , and my friends computer will do the same.

Yes I would do a restore and then just hand it over to him. He can then activate it and sync it to his library. Then your new one you'll do the same thing.
You could just do a reset, which would delete all content and return it to a default state. But anytime I sell one I do a restore because this just allows them to start with an almost new setup. Most of the time it is a lot less problematic.
It is honestly a pretty painless process!

  • Buying a new iPad and selling my old one.

I currently have an iPad 2 16Gb wifi, and I'm upgrading to a retina 4th gen same spec, a work colleague is buying my old iPad and I was wondering how I go about resetting my iPas 2 so he can register it?

    Hey dray67
All you would need to do is restore the iPad, and then the other person goes through the setup process. The article below will give the steps to take care of it for you.

  • Buying a new mac and syncing old ipad.

    Here goes.
So I want to buy a new Mac, and sync by old iPad with it.
Normally when you do this you get a message saying by syncing this iPad you will erase all your data.
But I am using time machine to back up my Mac, so if when i get my new Mac and plug in my time capsule, will my itune libary be the same on the new mac?
And in turn when i plug in my old iPad with the new Mac will it just sync like normal without erasing all data and needing to start again?
    Please help...
    Kind Regards.
    Tom D

Yeah. Plug it in using a wire or do it wirelessly... The set up options has a "restore from Time Machine" option. It should be pain free. Might take you awhile, especially if you restore wirelessly. You should have everything restored: files, settings, etc. For me personally, I backup everything on my external hard drive and I just drag and drop everything manually instead of using the Time Machine user interface. Both way works and achieves the same end result. I don't recommend my way unless you are really familiar with Macs and knows where files are.
