I want to love my new Incredible but...

There are a couple of issues that I'm seeing that I can't get a straight answer from anyone I talk to at Verizon either on the phone at a store.
1 - Battery Life: I'll typically give my phone a full charge overnight. If, starting around 8:00 AM, I have a 'normal' day (not a ton but some online usage, a few calls & texts) my phone is totally dead by about 4:00pm.
Is this normal? When I go to my local store with this question I'm not given a solid answer. Just told things I can do to help battery life. I would loove to hear a honest answer as to how much battery time I should realistically expect.
2- Heat: I'm I use the phone for more than 5 or so minutes in a row the phone starts to get super hot. I can't even put it in my pocket afterwards because it's so uncomfortable. Again, I ask the question, is this normal?
Please let me know the truth. If the answers are Yes then I can accept that but please just be honest with me & anyone else out there dealing with these issues.

The battery has been a problem on the Incredible. I'd recommend you getting an extended battery. You can here on HERE. It should increase your battery life. Here are a few more tips.....
Dim It
The brighter your screen, the more juice you're using. If you're in a dimly lit room, turn down your screen's brightness. If you use your smartphone  to play music, lower the volume.
Stop Searching
It is great that you can use Bluetooth technology to connect your smartphone to a headset, or use Wi–Fi to speed up the downloading of e–mail messages. But when you're not using that headset or not near a Wi–Fi hot spot, turn off those features on the phone.
Skip a Generation
Your smartphone is also continually looking for a cellphone signal. If you're in a weak signal area, your phone must work even harder to find one, decreasing battery life. If you know that there is no coverage in your area, turn off your portable device's mobile capabilities
Check Mail Manually
Mobile smartphones can check for e–mail messages and instant messages automatically. Or they can be set to "push" notifications as soon as they arrive in your server's mailbox.
Both strategies can be power hogs. To increase your battery life, turn off push and increase the interval between when the phone checks for new messages. Or better, set up your phone to check for messages manually.
About heat, I don't have the incredible but on my phone it does get warm. If I am charging it it'll get warm or if I am talking on the phone for a long time. Never had any problems though.

I am connected to the internet, but all tabs are closed. Now I want to open a new tab, But Firefox pops-up with "Firefox is already running, but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system". Does anyone here know how to fix this? Thank´s, BL.

    A few times a week

Firefox is shutting down windows I want to remain open. Example: I am done viewing one window. I click the X to shut the window and it shuts two windows. Every single time, attempt to close one windows, two windows close. Lately, I have been opening several windows with nothing but google search, just so it will shut that window and not something else I want to remain open. I could understand this if I was using tabs, but I am not. This has been going on for over two weeks. I don't like going back to history to open a window, I did not want closed in the first place. Isn't that what 'Windows' is all about? Any ideas?

  • I own a Mac. I want to install some new programms but itunes wants me to agree with some conditions. I WILL not agree to those conditions.

I own a Mac. I want to install some new programms but itunes wants to upgrade itself and wants me to agree with some conditions. I WILL not agree to those conditions.
How can I install software now? The stupid screen keeps popping up that itunes wants to be updated. Going round in a circle here.

Well, if you want to use iTunes and whatever  security or changes have been made with the iTunes Agreement have changed since last time, and to work with the iTunes Store....
    Clone your system.
You can also turn off updates.
Are you on Lion? And already have iTunes 11? You can manaully download and go to the support page and see what changes were made and other requirements.
There is a forum for issues with itunes (but not with the software license and agreement)
iTunes 11.1.3This version of iTunes resolves an issue where the equalizer may not work as expected and improves performance when switching views in large iTunes libraries. This update also includes additional minor bug fixes. Nov 5, 2013

  • I want to start a new movie but iMovie is hung looking for an old file and says:"Without this file, the movie cannot play properly."

    Hello!
I recently upgraded to Lion. Every time I start up iMovie, it asks if I want to go ahead and generate thumbnails. I say OK, then it alerts me that it cannot file the file IMG_0073.MOV. Then it says "Without this file, the movie cannot play properly." It gives me the option to either cancel or search for the movie.
I don't have the old file it's looking for. I simply want to start a fresh movie with new material but cannot get past this hump. Based on the little research I have done, some people experienced this problem because the files were in aperture at some point, which was the case for me before when I used iMovie. I have since moved forward only with iPhoto but perhaps it's hung on an old file format?
I tried taking another old movie and renamed it IMG_0073.mov to see if I could simply select it, give it what it wants and move on but it won't let me select the file for some reason. I also tried removing iMovie and downloading a fresh version but that didn't work either. My BF tried removing pfiles (I think that's what it's called? but again no luck)
Please help! I must get this assignment done for a class!

  • Want to only keep New podcasts, but certain ones, like " meditations", I

    Hello,
I wonder if anyone else would like to do this. At work I'm a tester, so I usually find conditions in the software that no one else can. I sync up my podcasts every 3 days or so, when I feel like I have time in the morning. I set the iPod to delete the played ones and copy in the new ones. I only want to keep New podcasts, but certain ones, like " meditations", I listen to often but I don't want them deleted "these are short 5 minute meditations which are a nice weay to start my 1 hour commute". I noticed that there was a "Do Not Auto Delete" selection in iTunes. Even if this is set, the Meditations podcast are deleted from my iPod. The only way that I can get them back on is to "Mark as New" in iTunes. Do I have to mark them as new everytime that I sync, it would make sense that the "Do Not Auto Delete" would not delete the podcasts you select. This is a minor inconvenience, but I hate it when I forget to "Mark as New" and then my Meditations are not on my iPod, bummer. Thanks in advance.

  • I love my new MacBookPro but I have a few problems.

    1. I cannot send emails.  Outgoing server name is correct according to Microsoft Outlook which always worked on my pc.
    2. I want to set up a VPN but cannot find how to do this.  Again, on my old pc it works like a dream.
    3. Bluetooth does not seem to find anything that is not Apple. Other devices can see in, but Apple seems not to see out.
    4. I want to plug in my iPod but am afraid that the few purchased items on the Mac will obliterate those on the iPod - all my original data is on the pc. How do I get the old info onto the new toy?
Please help with any or all of these teething (?) problems.

I have given up for now on the music (had to re-purchase Amy Winehouse and iTunes knew I had already purchased it but would not let me download it again - crafty, hey?) and will get onto the others later.  Anyway, the email problem persists (I have posted a separate problem about adding Windows 7 to try and get around it) and I was told by my ADSL provider that the settings were correct and there must be a firewall or something blocking it - which I checked and cannot see this is where the problem lay.  Up until Thursday morning when I downloaded new software (as sent by Apple) the Yahoo account within Mac had been working fine.  After that even Yahoo's server couldn't be accessed.  So I now rely on Webmail (which can be difficult as it is in Greek - of which I have a working knowledge but not a technical one!).
Has anyone else found a problem after the last updates or should I give up on technology completely?!
Sorry I did not reply sooner but, aside from mailing issues, we had a 36 hour power cut, ergo, no internet.
    Thanks.

  • Love my New 3GS - but...

I LOVE my new 3GS, way better that the VZ Blackberry Storm I had. I have gotten so much more done daily with the iPhone.
    but..
I wish the new email alert sound was louder or changeable. Sometimes it does not sound at all. I watch it once and it new mail was arriving and no sound. and now i got mail and it sounded.
Any way to change the sound to a more robust one.
    thanks

You can send in requests for an enhancement to Apple, as I did weekly for about 6 months. However, it was not enabled on the new OS (3.0). <Edited by Host>

  • Love my new iBook, BUT...

love my new iBook, as a matter fact, Apple Computer has helped me learn more about technology and expressing myself than I ever thought possible from any corporate entity.
it's almost to the point that you can manifest an idea in yer head, with sound and video, and publish it for the world to see within an hour!! pretty amazing.
that's why on-line services like mail and dotMAC are such a disappointment. the Mail.app in TIGER hangs and hangs doin all kinds of kool stuPH, when all i want is my eMail. dotMAC Synching is hit or miss at best.
it's time to get back to basics with these on-line services. in the spirit of everything Apple, these services oughta be easy enuff to use for a beginner, and robust for advanced users. i oughta be able to have the security and stability to run a business and the ease of operation to have fun at the same time.
as an end-user, what can i do to help make this happen?

Well .Mac services have been having trouble as of late I've read. So the problem is on the server end, not the Mac end.
By the way, "stuPH?" There is a spell checker built into Safari. If you have issues with .Mac, send it to the
form under the relevant .Mac page:

When I have installed updates for Firefox in the past, I have always lost my bookmarks. Why does this happen and is there a way to avoid it? I want to install the new update for Firefox but I am afraid of losing my bookmarks again. What can I do about this?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Do not worry. Hold Sleep (the button you have at the top of the phone) and Home buttons at the same time until your phone restarts, and then try installing the iOS update again.

  • I want to buy the new Ipad but what will become of my purchased applications? can I transfer them from my old Ipad?

I have the 3G ipad, but I want to buy the new one how do I transfer my applications from the old Ipad to the new Ipad

Yes. You can either set up your new iPad from a back-up of your old iPad, or you can select any apps bought via iTunes to be installed into the new iPad. If you go with the restore, everything like levels and the like on games is restored too. If you install fresh, then some things don't come over, even though you've loaded the apps.
anyway, it's not something to worry about.

  • I have an old Iphone 3g and want to buy a new iphone but am afraid I will lose my contacts list

I want to buy a new Iphone.  I currently have an old 3g.  I want to be sure that I don't lose the contacts on my phone.  I have some numbers on there that are not on my contacts list that is on my ipad.  How do I do this?

To sync contacts to your new iPhone you want to first
1: Connect iPhone 3G to computer with the latest version of iTunes (11.0.4.)
2: From there click under the device summary and look for your iPhone.
3: You should be on a page that should say summary on the top part of your phone where it'll say "Summary, info, music, applications, etc.
4: Click on Info and then you should see a box where you can put a check mark next to the words, "Sync Contacts."
    5: Sync your contacts
    Option 2:
1: Go to the summary page as described above and make a backup of your iPhone 3g onto your iTunes
2: connect your iPhone 5 and then open up the summary page
3: ON the summary page you want to click on "Restore backup" and select the backup you JUST made today (check the time stamp)
4: THis should put all your contacts, pictures, and settings from your old phone onto your new phone with no issues
    HOpe this helped

  • I want to download the new software but I don't even have the app store on my computer how do I do that?

I need the new software to download the new itunes but i dont have the app store on my computer. How do I get it and how do I download the new software?

It sounds to me like you may be running OSX 10.5.  Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.  Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
If you are running OSX 10.5 you will have to upgrade to 10.6 by buying a Snow Leopard DVD from Apple phone sales.
MacBook upgrade possibilities - https://discussions.apple.com/message/19577869 - "The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion."

  • I want to buy a new ipod but can I move my apps without losing in-app data?

I can back-up my ipod, wipe it and then restore the back-up without losing my game worlds and other in-app data bit what if i do this to another ipod. Won't i loss all of my data? Also, my ipod is really slow these days so I wanted to format it but how can i do that without losing my data AND without damaging my ipod? The back ups were made by icloud and directly restored. I wiped my ipod using the delete all data and settings function on my ipod. I've used that function with ios 5 and 6. Please be serious because i keep all of my data on my ipod!
    Already thanks!
    J. Paalman
(Could i also delete apps without losing data?)

    See:
iOS: Transferring information from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
You can just reatore from backup. If you restore via iTunes all yur synced media like apps and music has to be in the iTunes library since synced media is not included in the backup
If you restore from iClould backup only iTunes purchases are restore.

  • Hey guys, love the new look, but FF4 is crashing like crazy. Not only is it crashing the program but it is crashing my comp left and right. Any updates or fixes?

So you guys were killing it until this version. Since I have installed it my comp has gone haywire. The browser crashes regularly and i have have a few instances where it has been the cause of my computer crashing. It may be FF running with another program but in the last week i have just been running safari and have had no issues with crashing. Love FF3 and actually switched to FF after tons of issues with safari (still not my fav), not tuning my back on you, tho. Hoping for some fixes. thanks

I've tried to ad the songs like i did before on my pc, dragging them over to my playlist or library. Since I live in Norway, I have some difficulties with transferring to english, so it be some bad spelling.
On the music that I can't get to my itunes, is a "mp3 - lyd" which in norwegian is a the same standard mp3 format. All of the files is in this format, even those that I'm able to transfer to itunes. Which is an album by an single artist.
I know that itunes does not support all formats, which is why I always make sure that all of my music has the same format.
So I will try to explain once more. Earlier today, I downloaded some new music, both albums and singles. And it's the singles I have difficulties to transfer to itunes. Neither dragging them nor by clicking "import/add" songs to library works. What happens when I try to do this, is that I get that circle thingy,(the circle who comes when the computer is working), and when it disappers, nothing happens and no files(of the singles) is transfered. And I'm going crazy, because I thought that I could do this without help, and noe I'm sitting here like a questionmark, and don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
And, first of all, thank you so much for your time, and your links Limnos. Even though they were'nt the answers for my problem, thank you:) and I hope that you with the information above, may have an answer for me, or that someone else has.

  • Love my new keyboard BUT

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this, but couldn't find anywhere else. I jsut purchased the new Mac aluminum keyboard, which I LOVE. I downloaded the software and everything works fine, but the F buttons now have different functions. I can deal with this, but there no longer seems to be an F button that toggles to minimize and then maximize all windows at once--it used to be the F10 or F11, I can't remember which. HELP! I need this function to check my desktop on a regular basis. Is there some way I can customize the keyboard to do this? (The F5 and F6 keys don't seem to have a function--maybe I could use them?) I'm not sure why Apple saw fit to eliminate that particular key/shortcut.
    Thanks!

Interesting, Forrest. I guess this just goes to prove how subjective these assessments are. I too have typed on just about everything over the years since I first took typing lessons in a grimy high school classroom on summer break in 1968. LOL. I remember well those days of the Selectric ball and witeout--liquid and tape both. Glad they are gone forever.
Personally, I love the AL keyboard. I'm very glad I found it. I struggled, as I said, for months to find a keyboard I could basically ignore for 6 to 8 hours per day. People RAVED online about the Tactile Pro, and I couldn't stand it. It was so much in my face, with all that clicking and pounding.
Each to his/her own. I'm curious: what is "poor tactile feedback"? And I'm guessing "unsculpted keys" means there is not a little indentation to rest your fingers on? Probably that is the result of the AL being so low-profile?
How much would you pay me for my Tactile Pro? LOL. Maybe I'll hold off a few days on sending it back....
