I want to make a digital magazine, compatible across all platforms, to distribute privately. Help!

A client wants to create a non-printed magazine, but only for limited distribution to a list of 2000-4000 readers. The high costs of digital publishing are prohibitive however - is there any way to create the magazine for private distribution?
Any help would be much appreciated!

That’s only for single edition and that’s only for public distribution in the iTunes App Store.

We have Creative Cloud, and a client of ours wants to create a free magazine (multiple issues a year) for iPad and iPhone, distributed in Newsstand.
We know tons about InDesign, but nothing about Digital Publishing Suite.
How much is this going to cost to create and put up in the Apple Newsstand?

If they got the funds buy the pro account. Put it on the bill. And you run it. All depends on how deep the clients pockets are.
Single editon would be good for a yearly catalog IMHO. Or something with a shelf life of a year. If its a one time cost with no DL's to buy. Save Enterprise for the Fortune 500 clients.
A magazine is going to be a multi-issue situation with subs. They might also want to charge if it works. You get a certain amount of DL's to star with with the cost of PRO and if you burn through them (which is a good thing) you need to buy more.
I don't think you get any anyaltics with single edition either but I could be wrong.

We are a small specialized magazine and we want to publish a digital version of the magazine to be sold on Itunes. What is the process to do that? Is the ADP suite the solution? We are not looking for any special effects. Just swiping for each page and photos inserted.

Technically speaking there is none.
If you want your magazine to appear on the itunes app store it has meet minimum standards set by Apple. Having something this simple may not cut it.
They want the reader to have an experience that can’t be had any other way.
You can always try to get it past the reviewers but be prepared to have it rejected as too book like.

Network settings export - is it compatible across all osx versions ?

I have created a network preferences export file to configure vpn settings on other osx macs here at work (using 10.6.8). Can anyone tell me if this file is compatible with all osx os versions, or do I need to generate osx major version specific export files ?

I have only one setting - in DNS - but it stays there. I never used WINS.
You might see if you can do it with another user with admin privs as a test.
Also if you haven't, run DU and check the HD and repair permissions.
Barring that, you may have a corrupted .plist that needs trashing. Sometimes the preference file for a group of settings gets corrupted and by dragging it to the desktop the system creates a new one. This could work, but there are not guarantees.
The .plist files are in User->Library->Preferences. I don't know of a good list of which plist goes with which preferences other than that the names are sometimes (but not always) helpful

Alright, I know this is kind of out there, but I could really use some help. I'm a stage hypnotist working on a new format for my show, and I want to use a kaleidoscope video while hypnotizing people in my show. I've searched online and can only find programs for kaleidoscope design for PCs. Does anyone know of a program that will let me make a kaleidoscope video with my Mac?

Final Cut Pro has an effect called Kaleidoscope. When applied, it takes normal video

I don't know if this effect is included in the lower costing Final Cut Express.

You should be able to scan the image with the printer software and then print it at 8 1/2 x 11" when you set the print settings. Forewarning though, blowing an image up like this will likely severely degrade your picture's quality.

How to make change in Issue list across all project sites?

Hi,
We all have issue list in our project sites. We need to add some values to some of the columns in that issue list. The requirement is we need these changes to reflect in all the new sites. Also how to make these changes reflect in current existing sites.
Can anybody suggest a way to achieve this. One thing that i am aware of is creating a new project site template and associating it with EPT but that still not solves the issue for preexisting sites.
Please help asap.

If you have already created some sites. You would need to apply these changes either Programetically (Powershell or C#) or Manually.
However, you can take the following approach to avoid this problem in future. (i.e. Your "future" changes will appear in existing sites too). I am writing the procedure breifly but let me know if you need more details on this
1) Create a content type (e.g. "Project issues" at PWA level)
2) Associate this content type with the Issues List in your site template as well any existing project sites. Make it a default content type for Issue lists. save your site template
3) Create all your custom columns in this new Content type (changing OOB issue columns can break your reporting)
4) Your changes to content type should reflect in future sites as well as existing sites (whereever the content type was appiled)

I am using the mail app on my mac, and i was wondering if there is a way to sync all of the mail from one account onto all my devices (IPhone, and PC). Meaning that once i delete an email from my mac, it will be deleted on my other devices. What is happening is that i will get an email, but it will show up on my Mac and my IPhone. Is there a way that once i delete it from my mac, it will be deleted off of my IPhone so I dont need to delete it again. I already know about deleting the mail from the server once deleted from one device, but i want to be able to delete an email from my mac and have it disappear from my Iphone so i dont need to delete it again.

Remember you can only build an iPad app using your Single Edition solution (which is included in your CC membership). So you'd need a Pro or Enterprise version of DPS to be able to create the Android version.
You can create pop-ups in InDesign using the slideshow options and a multi-state object. But it's all manual labour so you'll spend a lot of time on this, also depending on the layout of your design.

Digital Publishing and Interactivity with digital magazine on my own server

Hello... I am researching what would be the best plan of action for my project... need to design a digital magazine for the web that is interactive and has rich media like video, animations, etc.
I am thinking of doing the following... design my animations in Edge Animate that will output html5 friendly animations, then use Indesign to design my master digital magazine like the way I want to with embedded rich media and symbols that have interactivity options.
I am unsure of my next step, or if I am on the right track... should I bring in this Indesign file as a format compatible with Html5, CSS3, Wordpress or what? And use Jquery plugins within the overall structure to add flash like effects.
Any suggestions?

With Add HTML-content tool you can add Adobe Edge project into any page you like, simly zip-package the project and make sure that there´s a file named index.html inside the package.
