I want to make playlists for my music.

Evey time I make a playlist on my PC I get duplicate songs because of iCloud. How do I stop that from happening?

Open iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General and uncheck the box "Copy to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library". Then either drag your music folder to the iTunes source list or use the function File>Add Folder to Library: About the Add to Library, Import and Convert functions

You can create a playlist on the phone in music player, or create one in Windows Media Player ans sync with phone. Or just select all songs and play random.

I don't know why it stopped working but it happened a month or two ago but the option on this phone that's usually all the way to the left when you select your device but now its not and I don't know what caused it. ive already tried troubleshooting my problem but have found no help.

I am back with an update. I turned off Match on both the ipad and the iphone 5. By doing so I was able to sync my Iphone and ipad to itunes and store the music on my devices rather than the slow streaming. So far this has fixed my problems with the iphone I have all my music, playlist, most of the album art and so on. But the ipad is a different story. I have the music and artist but not one playlist I am sure Apple will have an upgrade soon that will address these issues they are usually very good about this.
Now have any of you experienced another problem that has existed as long as I have used faces in Aperture.
I have over 200 faces and they are organized a-z problem is I have this going on A-Z folowed by a few that start over A-Z followed by another few A-Z and again a 4th time A-Z. Imagine how difficult it is while I am showing someone the great features of my iphone, ipad and imac. Which I do talk highly of all the time. But how do I explain that even though their name starts with a or b or what ever they are not important enough to me to be in the first list of A-Z or even the 2nd or 3rd list of A-Z someohow they are in the 4th section of the list!!!!
I have managed to get the Imac to fix this but for some reason the IOS devices do not. Any ideas?

Make Playlist for TV Shows.

OK, I can make a "playlist" for "The Shield, season 7" or "Prison Break, season 4" but the list gets filed under PLAYLISTS.
I want to file them under LIBRARY - TV Shows.
Can I do that? How? I don't want the seasons of "Lost" mixed up with my Music Library playlists.
I want the listing like they are on my iPod classic menu.

It also matters not where the media files are stored (laptop hard drive or network drive).
AppleTV relies on iTunes to stream local content.
Not the most environmentally friendly option but that's the way it is.

What is the path that I must take to find out where to set iTunes as the default music/video player? I believe that I have QuickTime at this point, but have learned that for the music player, iTunes is the preferred application. One can import, organize, browse, plan, and burn all in the same application. So.... I am going to change over but need to know where it is. I know it is in System Preferences but can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thank you.
P.S.: I now have music automatically starting and looping on a page in my website. I am going to add more music to my pages, too.

I was up late last night, though not as late as the time I went to bed at 6 AM. And then woke up at 9 AM.
I don't think you need to do anything really to have
iTunes handle your audio files. Keep in mind that in
general, iTunes=audio, and QuickTime player=video.
I believe that OS X is already set up along these
lines and the appropriate application will open up
according to file types and file extensions....

But James every now and again I deal with some sort of programlet or another, and it asks me whether or not I want to have THAT program as my default handler of (whatever). In the past (but probably prior to Tiger) I have accepted the idea because it seemed sane and probably appropriate. I know that in the past, it was a matter of choice between iTunes and QuickTime.

is not to say, though, that the occasional podcast
or ITMS video file can't be played in iTunes and
that QuickTime player can't also open up audio
files.

Aha. My podcasts come in thru iTunes. That is how I accidentally discovered (the other night) that I had probably clicked onto someone's podcast icon. It had lovely music on it.

I am soon going to work on my second song for another page. As you know, I began it last night.
(The only semi-nightmare scenario I see is me not being too acquainted with the html page, and maybe sneezing and my mouse erases data on the page and everything on that page gets wiped out. What I had in mind was when you sync to the computer you transfer the photos fom. Your iPad to the computer. Make sure the photos transfer to the computer then erase what you need to from the iPad. You'll still have the photos on the computer. Then upgrade to iOS 7 through the cloud and not do it through the computer and iTunes. Hopefully with the photos gone you'll have enough space to upgrade.

I only want to use the icloud for my music

I have a PC and an ipad2. I would like to use the icloud to transfer music I previoulsy loaded via a CD. Music that was not purchased from iTunes does not show available to download when I open my ipad2/shared music library. Would I use the icloud for this and if so, how would I select specific albums? I have heard many horror stories regarding icloud syncs so I have yet to activate my account. I only want to use icloud for my music and nothing else.

Yes. Only purchases from iTunes are stored in the cloud. If you want to store songs imported via CD you need iTunes Match.

I've created a Playlist for Christmas music which works just fine but I don't want it in general rotation (we use Shuffle a lot). Can I create a separate library just for that - I can't seem to find any info on whether this is doable.

Creating playlists for ZEN To

Just got the 40 gig Touch and love it. My problem is that creating playlists on the Zen is very cumbersome and I would like to create plylists on my PC as I can run a mouse faster than work on the zen. My zen is loaded with songs and I want to make playlists from those files. Can I make them on the synced up zen through mediasource or do I have to make the playlists and then load the songs? Hope someone understands what I'm getting at and any help would be great. Thanks in advance, Brad

It's easy. First You connect Your Zen Touch to PC, then create playlists through MediaSource, Winamp, Audio Catalyst or whatever software You wish. Of course, You have to add songs to playlist from Your Zen Touch, not PC hard dri've (otherwise how did You consider to create playlists before plugging-in Zen Touch)
For example, if You use MediaSource, follow this:
.first of all open it & find the "View" option on the Toolbar. Click on it & put the mark on "Show Right Panel" - this will give add. window to manage your playlists.
2.Find Your Zen Touch in browser, click on it & find "Playlist" sub-catalog. On the playlist toolbar click "New" to create new playlist.
3. On the right window, that You opened in Step , find Your Zen Touch again, click on it & You will see all songs that You have in Your player.
4. To add songs from Your player to the playlist use arrow buttons between the windows.
