The real thing is, What I made on Windows 8.1 Adobe InDesign CC Includes a link to every picture starts with E:// or something.
Since I want to make it universal, and Mac don't use E:// for example, I need to know if there is any way to make the Links alive at these 2 platforms.
I don't know. Maybe somehow make the links in format like: " */folder/links/picture.jpg " .

InDesign uses absolute paths for links with the exception that if the link cannot be found in the specified path ID will search the current folder where the .indd file is stored and any subfolders and use links it discovers there.

Connect your devices to the computer with the USB cable (one device at a time) and import the photos via iPhoto or Image Capture.
If you have not changed any default settings on your computer, iPhoto will automatically launch when you plug in the device. Then follow the import prompts. -

Extract the photos from the phone to your computer like you would with any other digital camera.

So I cannot even access the application. It was working fine yesterday and today I get this error message:

I am completely confused. I use aperture everyday and today when I tried to open it I got the following message " aperture cannot access this library" then it said to use this library , make sure its file permissions are set correctly"
So i read a bunch of posts and opened aperture while holding down option and command and repaired the file permissions. it did nothing, when I tried to open aperture I received the same message. So then i tried opening it while holding down just the option key. This brought up all of my libraries but when I chose the library i use daily the same message came up.
Does anyone know how to fix this and/ or why it is happening?
Thank youNo idea how to check the format, not familiar with Drobo products. Does the drive show up in Disk Utility? If so you should be able to see how it is formatted there.
How long has this setup been in use?
Aperture libraries have to be on locally connected drives formatted as OS Extended as per Apple (see Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture for example). While Aperture may work with other setups there is always the possibility that the library will become unusable at any point in time with no warning.
Try to find out the format of the drive and post back. Maybe something can be done but from the error messages you are getting I'm thinking the best course of action will be to restore from backups onto a correctly formatted drive.

Working in a team on several computers, and need to make sure all subvi's are available
I'm working on a team project, and we are using a Dropbox account to share the vi information. We've had a few instances where one user writes a program, and then when another user accesses the work, they get hit with a bunch of "missing vi" errors.
Instead of searching over and over again every time something new gets added, is there a way to have labview copy all the subvis a particular program is using into a single file. I'm pretty sure the answer will be "create a library" but I'm not sure if that's the right path, and if so, how to do that semiatuomatically...
Thanks!Fist let me add my vote for TortoiseSVN, or another version of source control. Dropbox is good for synchronization, but you can't rollback, log and merge with it.
However, if you really just want a list of paths and project items, you can load all the project items and get their paths using VI scripting. I attached my version. Top level VI is check Project Paths. I use OpenG libraries , so you might need to modify, but what I basically did was:
1. Get all project items
2. Remove from array all items that are in vi.lib and in project folder (which I assume is your dropbox folder)
3. Show all remaining VI paths
4. Show caller for each VI

I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro. Downloaded Mountain Lion. Could no longer send mail messages. Checked my Mail preferences and they were correct. Icalled my ISP and they tried to help make it work by setting some new preferences Did not work. Took Mac Book Pro into ISP to see if they could remedy the problem. They could not. Still cannot send messages. The only thing I did from when mail could send mail and when it could not was to download Mountain Lion on to both computers. Help!
Just realised that with the SSL checked in the smtp set up, password authorisation is required and is put in the box immediately under the SSL checkbox, which is under the port(s) being used. Can now send mail:)

Have been using fine up until Wednesday this week and suddenly cannot open file at all.
I have around 10K images on drive but file size for library says 0bytes. When I use Alt to open it shows file and shows correct number of versions and originals but then gives the error re permissions when trying to open.
Have tried the repaire permissions, repair database and rebuild database all give same error about permissions and fail to start.
HELP!

James.I think I set it to keep the images in the library not referenced but the drive did contain many pictures before I started using Aperture so i need to bring them into the library.
How large is your library now, and how much space can you afford for your Aperture library on your internal drive?
Or do you have a second exernal drive, that you could format MacOS Extended (journaled) to be able to temporarily host your Aperture library?
Do you need the "Tuxera NTFS" formatting on your external drive to share image files with other systems, or would it be an option to reformat that drive?
If you are more comfortable with a managed ibrary, by all means keep the library managed. Only it needs to be on a drive formtated MacOS X Extended (Journaled). It could be your inernal drive, if you have enough space or a locally connected external drive. Connect it to the fastest port you have; Firewire, or Thnderbolt, a fast USB port.
Move the library there, then import the images, that you now have in separate folders on your externa drive. To prevent Aperture from importing duplicates, enable the option "Do not import Duplicates" in the import panel. If you are lucky, Aperture will recognize many of the duplicates. if you have not changed the filenames.
I have to sign off for the next couple of hours, but will look in later.

Then you created a new user account when upgrading. How did you upgrade? Did erase the system and set up your mac completely new? If your short user name has changed, you are no longer the owner of your Aperture library, if it ha been created with your old user name.

And after repairing the permissions you can still not access it?
Where is the library located? On an external drive or in your Home folder? -
My old computer (a Sony) with my iTunes crashed. I have a new MAC and want to make sure I can keep all of my music (mostly from old CD's that have been lost). I bought iTunes match hoping that would work but it isn't using the data on my phone. HELP!
Since you have purchased a new Mac (which, BTW, is not typed in all capitals) why not buy a Time Capsule <http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/> which is designed specifically to work with OS X and Time Machine?
You don't say what part of your Sony "crashed." If it was not the HDD it is possible to take the computer apart, put the HDD in an external case, then recover the data off of it (including the music) simply drag-n-drop. If it was the HDD that "crashed" that makes it more difficult.
If you are able to recover the music from the Sony you can then add it to the iTunes library on the Mac and iTunes Match will then scan, match and upload the tracks to be mirrored in the cloud. -

I am really bad with technology...When you first sync with a new iTunes library iTunes will delete any iTunes media from your phone and replace it with the media in the library being synced with. iTunes media includes things like apps, music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, books, custom ringtones and photos synced to your phone from a computer. If you are also syncing your contacts and calendars with your computer it will replace the ones on your phone with those on your computer. If your iTunes library, contacts, calendars and iPhoto are all empty, you will end up with all of these being empty on your phone.
To preserve these you need to follow the steps in the linked article. This will transfer purchased media from your phone to your iTunes library and transfer contacts and calendar entries to your Mac. As discussed in the guide, it will not transfer music not purchased from the iTunes store (which can only be done using 3rd party software such as the ones discussed) or photos synced to your phone from another computer (which can be transferred to your computer using an app like PhotoSync). These will need to done first or you will lose them, as discussed in the guide. -
