I Want To Manage may live site through Dreamweaver

Hi all,
I want to know that how can I manage my Open Cart based online shopping site COMPUTER POINT developed in Open Cart with in Dreamweaver so that any changes made through Dream weaver could get online instantly.

That would be possible only if your webhosting service provides FTP capabilities.
If it does, you need to configure remote server setup within dreamweaver to access it, make modifications and post those changes online instantaneously.
This article might come in handy. Take a look:

  • I want to make a new site in dreamweaver and host it on business cstalyst

I want to make a NEW site in Dreamweaver CC and host it on the Business Catalyst platform. But it seems the only way to use dreamweaver in business Catalyst is to import a BC template into Dreamweaver then upload it to BC. I want to create an original site and use the BC platform, is that possible? This seems like it should be simple and automatic, even encouraged. But as of now the only way to create an original site is to use Adobe Muse. Which is weird, seems like Adobe missed this one somewhere...

I don't think you understand: I want to open Dreamweaver and build a brand new site, then when I am done I want to host the dreamweaver site on the Business Catalyst platform. I dont want to use anything in BC to build the site, I just want to use the hosting platform. I do not want to import a BC site into dreamweaver or anything like that. I just want to use BC the same way I would use godaddy, or uhost or any other hosting provider. Based on your response you said that "of course its possible to build a BC site in Dreamweaver" I dont want to build a BC site, I want to build a Dreamweaver site and host it on the BC platform. Like I said before it doesnt seem like this is possible. As of now we can only build a new site in MUSE and integrate it into BC without using a BC template. Can you understand what I am saying. I DONT WANT TO USE A BC TEMPLATE, I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH BC WHILE I AM BUILDING THE SITE WITH DREAMWEAVER, JUST LIKE MUSE DOES.

  • Wanting to publish 2 differents sites through iWeb.

    Hi folks,
I have been trying to figure out how to publish two different site in iWeb using personal domain names. Is there somplace I can find a simple step by step? According to the me.com account, I should be able to host multiple sites, but I really can't figure it out. I'm not a tech person, just a creative person with some tech ability.
    Thanks so much!
    Nancy

You can only use one personal domain name using Cname with a  MobileMe account. Any others have to use masking which is not really worth thinking about.
Since MobileMe is closing down next year you may be better to move to new hosting where you can have as many domain names and sites as you want. Most of them offer free domain registrations...

  • Can I edit Wordpress site through Dreamweaver?

I've started a site on wordpress consultantdesignengineers.com and I was wondering is it possible to open wordpress template files in DW and do some customizing and be able to see the results in the design mode and if so, what exact files from WP need to be loaded in DW? cheers

WP Theme development requires really good coding skills in PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.  If you're not a skilled coder and more specifically very familiar with how Child Themes work, I don't think DW's Design View will much help to you. It's all about working with code.
To work with PHP files locally, you need a local testing server.

  • Downloading and editing an existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver CS5.

Hello! New to the forums, here.
I'll try to be brief. I've got a WordPress site in-place at metalmeter.com that is hosted through HostGator. Basically, what I'm looking to do is get the site from the remote server and edit it in Dreamweaver CS5, previewing all changes on a local testing server before putting the updated contents back on the remote server.
Now, let me be clear: I've tried plenty of the tutorials. I've watched hours of videos. I still can't get it configured properly. I've got the FTP connection to the remote server running smoothly. I've got XAMPP installed. I'm having difficulties (and I apologize for being vague), and I just don't know where the problem is located. In my htdocs folder for XAMPP, I've got two subfolders 'metalmeter' for the remote server's downloaded contents, and 'wordpress' for the wordpress installation that every page seems to be pointing me toward. What confuses me is that when I try and open the uppermost index.php file on the remote server, the dynamically discovered content is not being displayed in the live view with my local testing server. I want to be viewing my existing WordPress site in its entirety exactly as I see it online while I'm editing it, and then pushing back updated files to the /public_html/ root directory of the remote server so that I can edit the site from my local client. I'm extremely new to Dreamweaver, so any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
If you know how to do exactly what I'm trying to do and have been successfully viewing and editing your existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver for upload, please take some time to explain the set-up. I'd be forever in your debt!

I've been following this discussion for a while now and I don't understand why you hope to edit articles from DW.  That's what the WP Admin panel is specifically designed for.  Besides, you won't find your articles in any of the site files because they don't exist there.
I agree I don't see any reason to want to edit a Wordpress site in Dreamweaver. If you are using Wordpress then you may as well put Dreamweaver in the bin. Although people do actually want to edit and manipulate the design in Dreamweaver (including myself) and from what I've read its possible but I've never found a source which explains fully how to achieve this and those that I have it seems too much effort to even bother about.
I guess the Dreamweaver environment feels more like home and is more user friendly.
To put it another way, a typical WordPress installation contains around 800 files in some 80 folders.  Those files don't contain any content, just a whole lot of PHP code.   In fact, the only page most people ever see on your site is the index.php page which is dynamically created over & over by the server with content from the MySql and various include files.
For sure and that's why people who use Dreamweaver and feel the need to manipulate a Wordpress site in Dreamweaver because Wordpress is 'in vogue' get lost. Wordpress just containes a lot of pages with nothing to see apart from some php, many of who will not understand one jot.
Unless you're a coding guru, you should definitely NOT touch any of the core WP files as this could cripple your site.  If you want to customize your Theme, look at the CSS and include files in your Themes folder.   See Anatomy of a WordPress Theme:http://yoast.com/wordpress-theme-anatomy/
    lol your not wrong there!
For a quick tip on Theming, open your remote site in Firefox equipped with the 'Web Developer Toolbar'.  Edit CSS on screen.  Save changes to your local site and upload it to the remote server.  No testing server required.
Wordpress is Wordpress and Dreamweaver is Dreameaver. As far as I can make out the two don't mix.
Ideally you would just choose a Wordpress theme which most relates to the nice site you have designed in Fireworks of which you won't find any however goodthe themes are. Then manipulate the themes css that's if you can understand it. Even for a seasoned css expert its heavy going because everyone produces css differently to achieve the same results.
Leave Wordpress well anlone unles you're going to use it out of the box so to speak or as a web-developer don't mind a bit of reverse engineering.

  • A question regarding using a Dreamweaver site to manage a WordPress site?

Using Mac OS X I have installed and configured MAMP to edit a WordPress site.
I have setup a DW CC site to help with this editing, and all files are behaving as expected.
I would now like to take this to the next level.
As I develop the site plan for the future, I am unsure of the local folder structure I need to use if I want to use the capability of the SQL database to manage logins and landing pages.
In other words, do I put the root folders for other html sites in the same root directory level as the WordPress folder?
Can I then (with some individual tweaking of php files and the database(s), use this organization method to author a number of standalone sites with unique logins?
I hope this question is not too vague.
    Thanks

Sounds to me you want to use the multi-site option in Wordpress. That way you can setup a network of (related or unrelated) sites in Wordpress, and assign different logins, themes, and so on, to each site as well.
Study the official documentation before you begin:
Create A Network « WordPress Codex
In this case you should stay away from any manual mysql tinkering - no need for that with multisites in Wordpress. Of course, you can still use DW to edit the theme files, if you so wish.
For more multisite user control, check out plugins like:
    http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/7-plugins-for-easier-wordpress-multisite-user-management/
If you need ultimate control over user management, payment options, and so on, you may want to install S2 User Management (but it is a complex one to learn).

  • Changed Adobe ID can no longer access BC live site

    Hi
Having some problems with my Creative Cloud / BC site. I created a Muse site and pushed it live with my CC subscription. I then had to change my Adobe ID due to my old domain expiring (ensure I receive emails etc). Since changing the Adobe ID I can no longer access my live site in BC. Any changes in Muse create a temp site in BC / CC under my new Adobe ID and it is not possible to push these live or assign them to my original live site, which is still hosted by Adobe.
I have tried to swith accounts in Muse but this doesn't work. I've also tried to FTP the changes but cannot get this method to work either.
I'm sure others must have experienced this issue and would really like to know how or if they managed to resolve the problem. Not having any visibilty of my live site is worrying and I desperately need to establish a connection back in Muse between it and my BC account. I'm not a web developer I'm a cameraman so I need simplicity which is why I opted for Creative Cloud in the first place.
Thanks in anticipation for any assistance.
    Best
    Will

    Hi Will,
Not sure in this case as it appears the user ID is just not syncing.
I would recommend reaching out to our chat support with this issue to look into your account and to verify your login details.

  • How could it be possible to completely restrict other users to view any sites through firefox browser with the help of password ?

I want complete control of firefox browser for my computer.
    For example:
There is a similar feature in Internet Explorer which is called 'Content Adviser'.
To restrict others for viewing sites through Internet Explorer here is what has to be done:
    1. Click to open Internet Explorer.
    2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
    3. Click the Content tab, and then, under Content Advisor, do one of the following:
*Click Enable. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
*If you've previously enabled Content Advisor, click Settings, and then type the supervisor password. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    4. To allow others to view restricted content, click the General tab, and then select the Supervisor can type a password to allow users to view restricted content check box.
    5. To allow others to view unrated content, select the Users can see websites that have no rating check box, and click OK.
    6. If a supervisor password has not previously been set up for Content Advisor, you will be prompted to create one.

Looks like verdana is selected to 'off' in font book. Not sure if this could be the reason as to why i'm experiencing problems.

  • Cant Publish site through IWEB 09 FTP server in my computer

Hi everyone, I have trouble publishing my site in FTP server in my computer. Each time I tried, its saying my password is not correct.I have Macbook pro 10.5.6 intel. I tried publishing my site through another computer and it did!. I dont know whats wrong with my computer. I have Protec Mac antivirus installed. do I have to remove it? I have tried to disable its scan and still not successful. I have my own domain and purchased a 3rd party hosting service.
    Help!

    OT,
thanks for the reply. yes I can publish it using local folder. But the web site address in browser is sooooo long and starts with file://user/admin/folder/name of my folder/name of my domain name/page name in my web site. Not a good business image and looks so unprofessional I have specifically purchased a domain name and I would prefer it would show up when a client type my web address.
What I dont understand is that It has published from my husbands computer. Isnt the reason why we buy software and install in our computer is for us to be able to use it whenever we want to? (of course with compliance to rules and regulations) I have Ilife 09 and cant use the IWEB. I know that something is causing this "behaviour" in my computer because I am able to upload my site from another computer. I have to borrow my husband's computer everytime I need to update my small business web site.
can anyone suggest something I can do to resolve this issue?
would really appreciate it a lot!
    thanks.

  • Problems in accessing an SSL enabled site through Weblogic 6.1

    Hi,
We want to connect to an SSL enabled site (https://test.SalesForce.com) through Weblogic 6.1. We are using JDK1.3.1_08 and Apache axis.
We have followed the appropriate steps explained in the URL -
    http://www.pankaj-k.net/WSOverSSL/WSOverSSL-HOWTO.html
As mentioned in the above link, we made the configurations in JDK 1.3.1_08 to put the jsse.jar and other important JARs in jre\lib\ext folder and also updated the java security file to add the proper "Provider".
After that we tried to execute the test application to connect to an SSL site specified in it. It is a stand alone Java application and connects to the site and reads the bytes of the home page and displays them on the console.
When we tried to connect the SalesForce test site, we figured out that we were able to connect to the site and were able to read entire stream of bytes.
Then we copied the same code in a sample JSP, set the JDK1.3.1_06 as the JAVA_HOME for Weblogic6.1 and tried to connect to our test site through that JSP.
We observed that it is connecting to the site but reading just a few initial bytes and not the entire stream.
When we tried the same steps with Weblogic8.1 and JDK1.4.2_X, it works fine and reads the entire page with Weblogic8.1 as client.
So, we observed that the standalone application works fine with JDK1.3.1_08, it also works fine on the the Weblogic 8.1 and JDK1.4.2_x combination, but when we use Weblogic6.1 and JDK1.3.1_08, it does not work properly.
Is there any setup issue in Weblogic 6.1 regarding connecting to a SSL enabled site?
Our actual problem scenario is a bit different than this, but we are sure that it is related to this situation and a solution to this problem can resolve the actual problem.
Another question we have is do we need to configure SSL in Weblogic 6.1 and also care for installing certificates evenif Weblogic 6.1 in this case is a mere client?
We have tried to connect to the same site using Weblogic 8.1 and JDK1.4.2_X. We did not require any kind of certicates in that case. Hence I want to clear my doubt.
    Please help.

    Hello,
Just wondering if you ever found a solution to this problem. We are suffering just about the exact same issue, where our environment with WebLogic 6.1 SP4 cannot access an SSL enabled site, but our WebLogic 8.1 SP2 upgrade environment can. The only difference we've been able to pinpoint is that our 6.1 server connects via TLS1.0 (SSL3.1) and our 8.1 server connects via SSLv3 (SSL3.0). Does anyone know how to control which version of SSL WebLogic 6.1 uses?

  • Want to make a poetry site

hey all just wanted to ask, probably a stupid question. if i wanted to make a poetry site, and i want people to have the option to submit their work, how would i do that?

As iWeb doesn't offer a way to handle submissions, you could use a free, web-based Social Networking site such as Ning which does. There's an example of a Ning poetry site here (more here) and info about Ning itself here. ...You could hyperlink from your iWeb site to your Ning site or you may find you don't need an iWeb site at all.
