I want to merge two ipod libraries

My kids both got ipods for Christmas two years ago.  At first, they didn't care, but now they pretty much want the same music.  I want to add all the music my son has to my daughter's ipod and vice versa.  However, when I unplug her ipod and connect his, I'm informed that ipod can only sync to one itunes library.  So, how do I combine them?

- You can can on sync with one computer/iTunes library
- If you copied the songs from one computer to the other and then sync with the one syncing computer that should work.
- To copy songs from iPod to any computer:

  • How can I merge two iPhoto libraries stored on an external drive?

Today I was in a One-to-One at the Apple Store.  I want to merge two i-Photo libraries into one.  One library is on my Air, the other is on my iMac.  Both libraries have been moved to an external drive.  When I try to move one onto the other, they won't go.  Yet I am certain that while at the store today, the person there started to merge them.  He did not need the library manager software in order to do so.  We stopped the merge in order to move on to another issue.  Now that I am home, I can't get the libraries to merge.  What am I failing to do?  Thanks!

The only way to merge two libraryies is to use  iPhoto Library Manager which will merge two libraries and keep keywords, titles, faces, places, and other metadata intact.
If one imports one library into another library every image file in the first library, originals, thumbnails, face files, etc,  get imported as an original photo. You will end up with a total mess.  DO NOT IMPORT ONE LIBRARY INTO ANOTHER LIBRARY!
If you have backup copies of your libraries get them back and use iPhoto Library Manager to merge them.

  • HOW CAN I MERGE TWO  IPHOTO LIBRARIES

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MERGE TWO IPHOTO LIBRARIES?

If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager

  • I want to merge two mcp accounts.

As I said I want to merge two different MCP accounts, so that I can get my MCSA certificate.
Is it possible to do that. Because I have given 3 papers of MCSA and after that I have given 1 last paper of MCSA so that I can get my MCSA certificate. But accidently when I registered for the exam, my another new SR ID got created. And I have given exam
    on that new ID.
So, now I am not able to get my MCSA certificate in my old MCP account.
Please suggest something and Please HELP.

Recently, I was reading forums looking for solution for the same problem, not much helpful then my prometric center person guided me to contact Microsoft at "mcphelp at microsoft . com" who helped to consolidate my two MCP ids
in just two days, I delighted about the quick response. They also provided very detailed explaination why two ids got created and what causion you should take going forward. Here is part of the email response.
A duplicate profile was created for you because a different email address was used when you took your last exam.
When registering for exams in the future, please use the information (name, e-mail address, mailing address and phone number) as it appears on your current MCP profile. This would ensure that the exams get updated under your existing profile.
Hopefully this information would be useful for others in similar need.

  • How do I merge two iTunes libraries?

I have two iTunes libraries on different hard drives on one computer. I choose the appropriate library when starting iTunes.
I now want to merge these libraries but retain the files on their separate hard drives (the files are too large to combine).
    How do I do this?

This is indeed an excellent question. I am looking for what seems to be the exact same solution. I have two libraries, where the ratings, checks, and play counts are included in the itunes xml library files. I have found that using synchronization software only compares documents and replaces one with the other. If I modify one computer (in terms of collections, ratings, or play counts), and then don't synchronize before modifying the other computer, then my libraries do not match.
If there were a quick solution to compare and merge libraries, then I would not have to re-synchronize libraries each time I switch computers (assuming I'm not adding/changing mp3 file structure).
I suppose there could be a very long-winded applescript to do this, but I'm not familiar with scripting, nor interested. Any help?
    Have any solutions been found?

  • How do I merge two iMovie Libraries?

Over time, I created two iMovie libraries - one on my external drive and one on my iMac.  I have moved both libraries to the external drive and now I want to merge them into one library.  I have not any success with Consolidate.

    Hi theforsh,
You can move events and clips between iMovie libraries in order to consolidate them. See this article for further information -

In particular this section - Copy or move projects, events, or clips between libraries or hard disks

  • Merge two iTunes libraries fails due to ADD TO LIBRARY...

I want to merge my laptop iTunes library back into my desktop itunes library (both machines are Macs running OS X 10.7.5 with iTunes 11.0.1).
However on the desktop, the iTunes "Add to Library..." command does nothing when I select the XML file on the laptop to which I exported my laptop library!
(The laptop drive is shared, and I access it over the network.)
Anyone know how to resolve this?

OK, finally had a chance to try this: just used a playlist (all I really need are the new songs, and I made a smart playlist based on date added to get these songs [copied those to a manual playlist that I then exported]).
    Procedure:
exported playlist on laptop to XML file on laptop
copied songs in playlist within iTunes (view playlist, select all, right click and select copy)
then in Finder pasted the copied playlist songs to a new folder on laptop
on desktop did a Add to Library to add songs over network from playlist folder on laptop (from prior step)
on desktop did a Library->Import Playlist and imported playlist XML file from step 1 (over network)
(One observation: some of the songs were purchased from iTunes: at first I didn't realize why all the songs didn't get imported into desktop library in step 4; then I realized they were already there on the desktop because they were purchased and the desktop and laptop have the same iTunes account ... so a purchase on laptop automagically appears in the desktop library!)
    RESULT:
Sure, the playlist got created OK, but key metadata seems to have NOT been copied over, e.g. all my star ratings except for two songs were not copied over.
Example: one song had a 4 star rating and sure enough an XML entry "<key>Rating</key><integer>80</integer>"
...but it came out in the desktop library with NO start rating.
Time for some manual updates ... and a better procedure!

  • Merging two iPhoto Libraries from two different MACs

You need iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to merge iPhoto libraries
I recommend merging both libraries into a new library so if some problem occurs you do not mess up either original library - this of course requires adequate disk space for all three libraries

  • I want to merge two accounts

I am assuming someone from apple will respond to this.  I created two accounts one for iPhone and one for iPad. Now I want to merge them.  I don't want to start a discussion. I want someone form apple to fix it.

    Hi Shane ...
Apple's policy states emphatically that you cannot merge acocunts.

  • Want to merge two Apple ID accounts...

I have two accounts, mainly because one of the "in store geniuses" advised me to create a second one when I bought my MacBook Air. (I already had one that I'd created when I got my first iPhone).
I want to merge them so that I don't have to duplicate app purchases, and so that I can set up Family account.
I've asked at Support, and understand this can't be done at this time.
    I've read (flaming) commentary here.
What I haven't seen is a credible answer from someone at Apple that helps me understand why it's a good idea for me to have excessive complications in doing business with Apple. I've been a loyal user since 1984 (not kidding), and don't want to rip anyone off.
But why do the rules have to manage to the stealers and cheats? Rather than serving the customers with ease and simplicity in 'doing business' (ie services design) as much as exists in the elegant product designs?
I'd really appreciate a reply from someone in an official role.
    Thanks.

  • Merging two separate libraries

    Hi All,
I have literally for about five months been working on this problem. I created an iTunes server several years ago with a giant amount of space, RAM, and now 17,000 songs! It's on Win XP. My laptop is Win 7, and for awhile home share worked fine, then stopped working out of the blue. I tried every trick up here that I could read about--little tips, tricks, major overhauls, nothing worked, but we did finally get to the point using those tips where the XP machine could see the Win 7 library and play it, but the Win 7 machine could never see the rest of the network, so since I spend most of my time on the Win 7 machine, no good to me.
In the months I spent working on this, I acquired a fairly sizable library on my Win 7 laptop so I'd have something to listen to. So I finally decided I was never going to get Home Share to work as long as they were on mixed OS's, I got a legal copy of Win 7 to install on the XP machine, installing as we I type, and taking a long time because I'm also using Aloha Bob to create a perfect mirror back up on an external drive should anything go wrong with the install.
So say the two machines being on the same OS solves the home share problem. Now I have the problem of a 400mb iTunes library on the laptop that needs to be merged with the main iTunes server, so I get back to just having one central location where all the media streams from. I'd like in the merge to keep the 100+ playlists I've created as well. Does anyone know if iTunes has this ability built in, or do I need to buy a third party software to do the trick? I've wasted so much time on this it's just stupid, so I just would rather pay $25 or whatever to just be able to merge the libraries, have it work simply, and go back to what I'd worked so hard to create: a well organized and maintainable iTunes library with every bit of my media, serving up to the home network, and backing up automatically at a very large external drive meant to be its back up.
Any help would be so appreciated, as you can see it's been a long and irritating process and I would have given up long ago if I hadn't invested so much time in the iTunes server.
    Thanks in advance!

    Barry,
You can take the entire iPhoto library folder from the powermac to the powerbook. Rename it first, (ex: iPhoto Library Powermac) and just copy the whole folder over. (To check that it works on the Powerbook after the move, launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed. You will be asked to choose a library, which you can then navigate to.) To merge the 2 libraries, the only way to do it and preserve your keywords, albums, etc. is to use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager.
