I want to mirror my 'sunflower to a tv

Help, I'm stuck!
The specs on this site say mirroring is supported for this model, and the system details on my mac say that mirroring is 'off' - not that it's unsupported. How can I make it work so I can use my Sony Trinitron as a display? (it's not LCD or plasma - older than that. And it does not have a PC input. But it has S-video & composite-video inputs).
I have a mini-VGA port, an apple VGA adaptor for it, and a scan converter (my tv won't accept VGA). The converter takes in VGA, puts out S-video, composite video, RGB through a scart. I connected my mini-VGA through an Apple VGA converter, then to the scan converter. Connected the s-video out from the scan converter to my tv. Turned everything on.
But I don't get a coherent visual on the tv. It's just a mess of colours, and changing my iMac's display resolution does not help. My iMac does not even recognise that there is another display attached. Messing with the scan converter settings makes no difference either.
The only part of the converter instructions I can't follow is that I'm supposed to plug my monitor cable into it. I can't of course, as the 'sunflower' monitor isn't connected to the base by any accessible cable. But I'm not sure what difference that makes, as I suspect my problem is that the mac doesn't 'see' the tv as an external display, and won't mirror.
Please, does anybody have any ideas? What am I missing?

The Detect Displays button is right in the Display section of the Color LCD window:
Can you get to that point in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays?
Note, you can upload screen captures to Flickr, photobucket, or your own private website after converting them to JPEG format and refer to them as
(removing the space after the < and before the >).
To do a screen capture, use command-shift-4 (where command is the Apple logo key), and a Picture 1.png file will appear. You can open the file in the Preview application and Save As JPEG with a new name, before uploading it to a website.

I want to mirror my MacBook Pro's screen to my HDTV.  I had it at one time by clicking the Mirror Icon on my upper menu bar but I do not have it any more?
What am I missing?  In the System Perferences the display menu seems incomplete.  There is no where in there to set my MacBook Pro to mirroring.

The mirroring selection is in the "Arrangement" tab and only shows up on the MacBook Pro LCD, not the external display.

    Shoeb, hi.
Thanks for replying and apologies for my tardiness in responding. I have just completed a re-creation of my web page using CSS/HTML rather than XML/XSLT and now I find that when saving in MHT format the watermark/background image is saved, which is nice, but trying to save it as 'webpage complete' under 'save as' in the browser still does not work. (For those who are new to Firefox, MHT files are not supported by the browser, but using the FF extention UnMHT one can open such files and save web documents as MHT files, meaning no accompanying folder is required to properly view the file.)

  • This is for people who wants to mirror all they apple devices when they travel.

this is for people who wants to mirror all they apple devices when they travel and don't want to unplug everything from the apple tv and take it with them, you can get the amazon fire tv stick and download an app called airplay upnp or the reflector app and mirror all of your apple devices to it, it is great for traveling easy to setup and move around, for example if your traveling and want to use it in the conference room and then want to take with you back to the hotel for the night and plug it in and keep on doing that routine.
it will be great to use hopeful until apple comes out apple with their own apple tv stick

The Verizon DVR is admittedly not the sharpest box on the market. I admit to giving up on the multi-room DVR product, it just never worked satisfactorily for me.
Hopefully features/functions issues  will improve in the near term with the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta box that obviously isn't going to make Q1. I admit I have ceased  holding my breath. Something does have to happen fairly soon because 160gb drives are literally going out of production.
You do however make two statements that incorrect. Current TiVO's only need 1 cable card, since the standard cable card today in Verizon's stock  is the M-Card. You also have the option with TiVO of paying either an annual fee, or a one time fee, both of which are lower in the long term than the month to month fee. Alternatively you can by the Moxi DVR, and it includes lifetime service in the purchase price.
While in theory a truck roll costs $79, in practice if it is for a Cable Card install, it is free (I think  FCC regulations preclude the charge).
Apparently there is nothing in Verizon's order processing system that tells reps that there is no charge for Cable Card installations, so they often quote the $79 fee because that is the standard charge for technician to come out. As far as I can tell (and there have been lots of posts about cable card installs), no one has in fact been charged the $79 fee..

Is notification center showing up when you swipe down ?
Check in your settings if control center is checked :
Settings > control center > check both "lock screen" and "access within apps"
gently swipe up beginning outside the screen, just a few inches up (you don't need to swipe up to the top of the screen.
if detected the airplay option will appear in the control center.

  • I have a table that I want to mirror on another sheet in Numbers

I have a table that I want to mirror on another sheet in Numbers.  Ideally it would be from another file but it looks like numbers doesn't support this right now.
It would be used to combine several regions into one national table file.  Is doing the = for each cell the most efficient way to do this?  Below is a screenshot of how my data is formatted.  This list would be around 30 rows but it could be anywhere from 1 - 150 for each of 8 regions each having their own table.  I want to combine all of those into a master list for the national file.
It also appears that the checkmark box for data does not copy as well.  It returns false but formatting it back into a checkbox loses the = functionallity and it won't update.

    Hi Brandon,
Rather than having eight regional tables and then struggling to consolidate them, have you considered having one table and then extracting regional views and data from it?  In many situations that can be more efficient.
To get a regional view from the master table you could use a filter, something like this (substitute Region for Type):
And extract sums and counts using a summary table for each region, something like this:
    SG

  • I want to mirror my displays

i broke my screen on my mac book pro. i plugged in the adpater to hook up a vga monitor. it gives me two screens doubleing the area but i want to mirror the images.
    any ideas?

Thanks, that takes me partway there, I would like to use the extended desktop mode, but have the menu bar, dock, etc appear on the external monitor and still be able to use the macbook's display. Mirroring does not work so well because the aspect ratios are different, and I don't get the extra desktop space. My old Macbook with Snow Leopard did this by dragging the menu bar from display to display in "Displays Preferences".

  • I want to mirror my optimum-on-line tv shows to my hd tv set. I can watch tv and such on my iPad. Can I get that content to he tv?

While watching tv on iPad 2 can I throw to big screen.?

I know all the answers you have given are correct. I am just saying that maybe Apple should consider something like this seeing as similar has already been done by competitors e.g Nokia on their N95 phone which is now 3-4 years old. It even has a smaller screen than my iphone!!

  • Can I turn off the drive mirroring from my MAC to the iCloud? Meaning I want to just use the iCLoud and a storage device but not have it take up space on my HD.

Basically I have 100megs left on my HD. I need to offload content. I need to move my files (photos) over to the cloud but I don't want it mirrored on my desktop taking up space.

That's correct, I moved the iMac drive to the second bay in the new Quad G5.
I wasn't sure if any combination of events would fix this. I didn't think there were any caches or anything else I needed to clear but just posted here to be sure.
The iMac was 10.4.3 and current with all updates. I didn't really think anything was missing but posted here to be sure. My understanding of Mac OS X is such that I was pretty sure that everything the Quad needed was already on the iMac drive. Not that this is necessarily any more reliable, but I asked at the Apple store and they said there was no problem with me moving the drive to the Quad and setting it as the startup volume.
A few people have told me that it's probably OK, but the official method is to use the migration assistant. So today I installed from the Power Mac OS X discs (10.4.2) to the Hitachi drive which I erased, then ran the migration assistant, then software update, then cloned the Hitachi drive back to the Seagate. I think the performace of the two drives is nearly identical (Seagate ST3300831AS, Hitachi HDS725050KLA360) and wanted the smaller (300 GB) Seagate drive to be my main drive.
I've been using Macs for only about a year and have found the experience interesting. On the plus side the performance is fairly consistant and I don't experience progressive system slowdown over a period of months. And of course there are the system update, viruses, etc. issues which are better. On the negative side basic stuff feels faster on a Windows system. I'll try Photoshop which I have no doubt will be faster on the Quad than the iMac and probably faster than a PC, too. But Safari or Firefox don't feel as fast as IE on a new Windows PC. Just my observation. I invested a lot in this Quad and expected to feel a significant speed boost even if it's only for launching applications and displaying web pages. (I have Comcast's highest speed Internet service.)

  • Windows 8.1 Disk Mirroring

    Hello,
I am running a Windows 8.1, 32 bit. My C: drive contains Windows and I have 2 additional 3TB hard drives which are mirrored using Windows 8.1 storage spaces tools. I do not boot off of these disks and only use them for media and storage. I have a few questions:
    1. As I am only using these disks for storage of files and not booting, if one fails, will the second one be recognized and useable with no data loss? I have seen many people warn against using Storage Spaces but it seems they are all talking about issues
on a mirrored boot drive - that is not my case.
    2. I would like to upgrade to 64 bi as I want to add more than 4GB of RAM to my PC. I have media and a valid key, however, will I have to re-mirror the drives using storage spaces and will I lose the date on either 1 or both of them? Does Storage Spaces
do some compare to see that the disks are identical?
    3. As the drives I want to mirror are both 3TB, will this cause an issue due to the size? I converted them to GPT when I initially installed 8.1 32 Bit. Will I have to do the same when I reinstall 64 bit or will they already be recognized?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
First,we need to understand mirror storage layout.
Mirror. Data is duplicated on two or three physical disks, increasing reliability, but reducing capacity. This storage layout requires at least two disks to protect you from a single disk failure, or at least five disks to protect you from two simultaneous
    disk failures.
Storage Spaces can automatically rebuild mirror and parity spaces in which a disk fails by using dedicated disks that are reserved for replacing failed disks (hot spares).
    So,the data isn't lost.
Regarding your second and third issues, Storage Spaces records information about pools and storage spaces on the physical disks that compose the storage pool.
Therefore, your pool and storage spaces are preserved when you move an entire storage pool and its physical disks from one computer to another.
Note: for parity spaces you must backup your data and delete the parity spaces. At this point, you may upgrade or perform a clean install of Windows 8. After the upgrade or clean installation is complete, you may recreate parity spaces and restore your data.
You can refer to the following article:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/11382.storage-spaces-frequently-asked-questions-faq.aspx
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I use WiFi to mirror my Display on my TV?

Sometimes I would like to use my HDTV as a display to mirror what is on my desktop's or laptops screen's, running 10.6.8. I can do this wired without problems either using an HDMI or VGA input. But it's not convenient
Is their anyway to do this with WiFI/Airport? It would seem one would only need a WiFi receiver and conversion hardware on the TV.
I don't want to just stream media, like with Apple TV, but want to mirror what ever is happing on my computer screen.
    ALL suggestions are appreciated
    TIA,
    Bill

    No.
iCloud and PhotoStream merely "push" you iOS photos to your other devices.

  • How to create a user account by mirroring another account in PowerShell (Trying to learn to use Powshell for some daily AD tasks intead of the GUI)

    Hi,
I am trying to create user accounts via PowerShell instead of the Gui in server 2008 R2 (PowerShell 2.0).
I know how to create a user account with the following Power Shell command below is one from a dummy domain I created to practice.
PS C:\Users\Administrator> New-ADUser -SamAccountName "TestOut" -UserPrincipalNa
me "[email protected]" -GivenName "Test" -Surname "out" -DisplayName "Testou
t" -Name "Testout" -Enabled $true -Path "CN=users,DC=bwcat,DC=net,DC=int" -Accou
ntPassword (Read-Host -AsSecureString "Enter Account Password")
However when doing day to day tasks where I work normally we have a new hire, they contact IT and ask that a user account is created.   I will ask who they would like to mirror.
I then would go into the gui pull up the user that they want to mirror right click him and choose copy.  This would create a new user account that I would then fill out.
I am wondering if its possible to do this same thing via PowerShell, or  if its not an option because it takes more work type up everything than it does to go into the gui and do it.
    Anyway thanks for the help.

    Hi Wilder, hi Mark,
first of all: The tutorial sources Mark posted - especially the book "Powershell 3 in A month of lunches" - are good to get a baseline start. A really great reference, especially when you try to learn it while still dealing with your daily business.
On another note, Wilder: While I fully agree that learning things sequentially is usually the best, I too jumped right in instead of learning how to walk first (though it's been some time now. Fewer years than you'd think, but still ...). So I thought I'd
give you a little aid with that function husk, so you could just stuff interesting bits into an available structure, making use of the fun tools in a useful context (It's fun fiddling around with the commands, but if you have to type in all of them manually
each time, using the GUI is often just faster. Doing fun things and being efficient with it feels even better though ...). So ... while I
do agree with yourself, learn it the Correct & Proper Way, I also do
intend to finish this little explanation about the husk, all the way to the end.
Everything below this paragraph is part of this.
    function Copy-ADUser
    <#
    .SYNOPSIS
A brief description of the Copy-ADUser function.

    .PARAMETER Template

    # Copy from old User
    $NewUser | Add-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -MemberOf (Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership $Template | Where { $_.Name -ne 'Domain Users' })
    # Do Whatever else you feel like doing
This is again the same function husk I posted earlier. Only this time, I filled a little logic (the pieces that were already posted in this thread). This time, I'll not only go over each part again ... I'll do it by reposting the segments and trying to show
some examples on how to modify the parts. Thus some of it will be repetitive, but this way all the info is in one spot.
    Segment: Comment Based Help
    <#
    .SYNOPSIS
A brief description of the Copy-ADUser function.
    .DESCRIPTION
A detailed description of the Copy-ADUser function.
    .PARAMETER GivenName

    .EXAMPLE

    .NOTES
    Additional information about the function.
    #>
That's the premier documentation part of a function, that teaches a user what the function does and how to use it. It's what's shown when using the Get-Help cmdlet.
Comment texts are not restricted to single lines however. For example you could replace ...
    .EXAMPLE
PS C:\> Copy-ADUser -GivenName "Max" -Surname "Mustermann" -Template "Jonny.Normal"
    ... with ...
    .EXAMPLE
PS C:\> Copy-ADUser -GivenName "Max" -Surname "Mustermann" -Template "Jonny.Normal"
Creates a new user named Max Mustermann and copies the group memberships of the already existing user Jonny Normal to this new User
... and get an explanation on what the example does when using Get-Help with the
-Detailed parameter (Explaining examples is always a good idea).
    Segment: Parameter
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param (
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Surname,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $GivenName,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Template
This is the segment that tells Powershell what input your function accepts. Each parameter of Copy-ADUser you set will be available in the next segment as a variable of the same name. You can add additional parameters if you need more information for your
logic. For example, let's add a parameter that allows you to specify what Organization the new user should belong to:
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param (
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Surname,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $GivenName,
    [string]
    $Organization,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Template
That's how that would look like. You may notice that I didn't add the line with
"[Parameter(Mandatory = $true)] this time. This means you
may add the Organization parameter when calling Copy-ADUser, but you need not.
    Segment: Logic
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName "$GivenName.$Surename" -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -PassThru
    # Copy from old User
    $NewUser | Add-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -MemberOf (Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership $Template | Where { $_.Name -ne 'Domain Users' })
    # Do Whatever else you feel like doing
This is the part of the function that does the actual work. Compared to the first husk I posted, this time there are two commands in it (and some comments). First, I create a new user, using the information passed into
the parameters -Surname and -GivenName. Then I Copy the group memberships of the user identified by the information given by the
    -Template parameter.
    So, let's modify it!
    # Tell the user you are starting
Write-Host "Starting to create the user account for $GivenName $Surname"
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName "$GivenName.$Surename" -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -PassThru
    # Tell the user you are copying Group Memberships
    Write-Host "Copying the group-memberhips of $Template to $GivenName $Surname"
    # Copy from old User
    $NewUser | Add-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -MemberOf (Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership $Template | Where { $_.Name -ne 'Domain Users' })
    # Do Whatever else you feel like doing
Now after adding a few lines, the logic will tell us what it's doing (and do so before it
    is taking action)!
Hm ... didn't we create a change in the Parameter Segment to add an -Organization parameter? Let's use it!
    # If the -Organization parameter was set, the $Organization variable will be longer than 0. Thus do ...
    if ($Organization.Length -gt 0)
    # Tell the user you are starting
Write-Host "Starting to create the user account for $GivenName $Surname in the Organization $Organization"
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName "$GivenName.$Surename" -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -Organization $Organization -PassThru
    # If the -Organization parameter was NOT set, the $Organization variable will have a length of 0. Thus the if-condition does not apply, thus we do the else block
    else
There! Now we first check whether the -Organization parameter was set (it's not mandatory after all, so you can skip it). If it
was set, do whatever is in the curly braces after if (...). However, if it wasn't set, do whatever is in the curly braces after
    else.
And that concludes my "minor" (and hopefully helpful) tutorial on how to use the function husk I posted :)
With this, whenever you find another cool command that helps you in the user creation process, you can simply add it, similar to what I did in these examples.
And if it all didn't make much sense, go through the tutorials in proper order and come back - it'll make much more sense then.
Cheers and good luck with PowerShell,
    Fred

  • Mirroring with apple tv screen size on projector issue

Hello, my name is Dave. I do praise and worship music at a small church.
I want to mirror my ipad on a projection TV. I have the ipad and apple tv but it's not using the entire projection screen. It only uses about 40% of the screen.
I also want to use portrait mode as landscape is to wide and won't display the entire song well.
Apple suggested keynotes but I understand that doesn't work in portrait mode. That is a biggie for me. I have notability but isthe problem the app or getting the right screen resolution ont he projector / apple tv or how can I fix this please?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Well that's the issue my friend. I called apple and told them what I wanted to do. They told me to get those things. So ... I called abck and double checked. I asked a different person the same scenario. Same ereply. So yes I did order apple tv and airpolay. As stated it doesn't work. The image is WAY smaller than the screen and it's not scaleable at all.
I don't understand what the praying jab is about. Praying was never mentioned in the issue here was it?
Back to the issue: it's not that I didn't realize this technology isn't here I was told it was by two different techs. So when I called back to explain my problem I was bounced around apple to several departments to find the technology simply wasn't here yet as I was told. I was informed incorrectly. So appple let me return the products. The customer service person apologized and I certainly accepted.
So the issue has nothing to do with praying etc. it's simply that for some reason, using your ipad for a demo only nets you 40% of the screen size and scaling is not an option.
Wish I knew that before I placed the order as that was not how it was explained either time I called in.
Now, let's have some techs start working on this issue... else I'm about to start praying... ;-)
