I want to password protect my laserjet (NO print without Password)

Hi there,
I bought HP Laser Jet 200 Color M251nw (75576E) and i want it to password protect, its connected wirelessely to 8 PC 4 Mac and 4 PC's, the problem is everyone printing it unless the printer says out of toner.
I dont want that, can i have a setup where the printer is only print when someone enter the password.
Thanks

Hi,
A such can be controlled by your network, the printer will be available for any device connected to the same network and a such cannot be controlled by the printer.
To prevent accessing your network password protect your network, if this is a shared network the HP device will be accessible for any other connected device within that network.

  • How to protect against a pdf printing without protecting the file with a password ?

I want to know if it's possible to protect a PDF against printing without protecting the file with a password ?
It's possible to make it with Acrobat Reader or another version ?
    Thank You
    Best regards.

    Hi,
Yes, you can restrict editing and printing of the document; although you have setup a permission password (To restrict the users from changing the document permissions).
Please follow the steps mentioned below:-
Open the file in Adobe Acrobat- Document properties- Security- Change security method to password security- Select Restrict editing and printing of the document

  • I can no longer access a password protected Numbers file with the correct password. Error message only says the file "cannot be opened."

    I'm using Numbers version 3.2.2.
Suddenly I cannot access my password protected Numbers file with the correct password. I have the correct password written down so I know I haven't made a mistake.
The response box that pops up says that the file cannot be opened. There are no other options for me to choose from.

Also, I tried to open it through an older version of Numbers but it sent this error message.

  • TS1398 After updating to ios 6 my iphone 4 would no longer connect to my home wifi. At work we have a free wifi connection that does not require a password. However my wifi at home is password protected. I have the right password. It works on my ipod touc

After updating my iphone 4 with the ios 6 update. My iphone would no longer connect to my home wifi that is password protected. I know that I have the right password entered in. At work we have a free wifi connection that does not require a password and I can connect no problem to it. My ipod touch has no problem connecting to my home wifi. It is a 3rd gen ipod and does not have the ios 6 update on it. Please help!

I'm having the same issues. Started when I upgraded iphone 4S and ipad1 to 5.1.1. Wife's iphone 4g on 4.4.2 has been ok. I've forgot the network on both devices and restored the iphone, none of which changed the issue. I've upgraded to ios 6 on the iphone 4s, problem still persists.
One thing that will help for a time: go to your router and change the wireless control channel. When I first did this I got full connectivity for about 48 hours... and now the problem is back. I'm now changing the wireless control channel every 12 hours, which is a pain but at least keeps me connected. I've tried a few other solutions that are out there and that has been the best one so far.
to do this on a motorola router: type 192.168.0.1 in your address bar.
username: admin and password:motorola if you have not changed the factory defaults.
Click on the word "wireless" and look for the "control channel" field. This may be set to auto or to 1, try changing it to 6 or 11 (preferred) or any other channel.
The control channel can cause static in the wireless system IF there are several networks nearby that are on the default setup.
There is a fair bit of buzz about this issue out there, some other things I've seen:
This is a hardware issue. Go to the store and have your wifi antenna checked, some users reporting that they get free replacement devices.
Check against other wifi networks that require a password (this is next for me). Logon to those networks and surf until your wifi stops. If your wifi connects to the internet but stops responding, then this is a software (or hardware) issue and apple needs to step up. Some are claiming this to be the case.
IF you connect and stay connected/on the internet on another password protected wifi, then the issue is with your router. this is where things get cute.
Comcast may tell you to update your firmware. Motorola may tell you that your cable provider is the only one who can push through firmware updates. Comcast may tell you that you are not in an area that is being updated. It's unclear if they say that to all customers, or just those who have purchased cable modems and aren't renting them from comcast.
Good luck, more to come if I figure out anything else, and please post any solutions you may find.

  • Pages 5.2 file is password protected but doesn't ask for password and is locked and not accessible.

    MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.2, Pages 5.2
File is password protected but when I go to open it I'm not asked for password and therefore the file can't be opened.  It shows up in the list of files as locked.  I have opened this file with the password many times, but now I can't open it.

I just got it to work...sorry for the message!

  • PDF Files are password protected.  I never set a password

There are a lot of pdf files in the document section.  Must be book or magazine pages as they are titled "page101.pdf" and so on with a date underthem.
I tried to open one to see what it was and I got a "password protected" and a box to enter my password.  I never set a password for this app.  I tried using my Adobe password and my google password to no avail.
How can I open them to see what they are?
    Thanks.
    Janet in NJ

The request for a password has absolutely nothing to do with a password for the application or any relationship to your Google password.
The message password protected refers to the PDF file that you are trying to open. Apparently, whoever created the PDF file either a PDF file creation or subsequently password protected the PDF files. You will need to contact whoever supplied those PDF files to you to obtain whatever the password is or passwords are.

  • How do I take a password protection off a pages file without the password?

I have forgotten the password I used to protect a file I created in pages and do not have any idea how to reset it. I have my admin password and my computer master password. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I think you can forget about the document.
Security is security. Either you can break it and it is not secure, or you can't but you end up locking yourself out.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Cannot publish new password protected sites to MobileMe using iWeb

Recently been getting the familiar iWeb error messages when publishing from iWeb to mobile me:
"There was an error updating MobileMe"
"An error occurred while publishing file '/Web/Sites/Sites.rss"
"Publish error: An unknown error occurred"
Did all the troubleshooting stuff detailed here - problem persists.
Today, tho', I've just noticed that these errors *only occur when I'm trying to publish a new password-protected site or trying to apply password-protection to an existing unprotected site*.
It works just fine when publishing a site which is not password-protected. It is also possible to modify an existing password-protected site without any trouble.
There's nothing odd about the passwords - all legal characters etc.
It would be better for me and my users if I could have password protection on my sites. Without passwords, I'm left relying on 'security by obscurity' - not ideal.
    What can I do?

You could split up your single Domain file into several Domain files each containing a group of sites. You'll have to duplicate (via Finder) the Domain file usually located here:
...and then double-click one of the copies to open it in iWeb. Then delete the site(s) you don't need from it. Repeat the process until you have a more manageable group of Domain files each containing several (or just one) site(s). Note that this process is not easily reversible, i.e. merging Domain files. Read more in Chapter 2 here:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebMultiplewebsites.html
With "many, many sites", this splitting process is not without risk — so before doing anything, don't forget this:

  • Programmatically open a password protected pdf

    Hi,
    Here is the issue.
I want the client to be able to view the file when he asks for it.  So, since the file is password protected I need to provide the password when the client asks for this file.  That's what I want my program to do.  Why do I want to do this?  Because I don't want the client to mess with these files.  In the current environmet all he can do is VIEW.  He can't  change anything, remove or add pages, etc.  If he was clever enough to find these files outside of the program's environment then he could possibly make changes.  IF such changes are made it would profoundly affect the operation of the program.  So I password protect these PDF files so that one could not make such changes.
I know the password, so I am not trying to Hack this file.

Have you considered using certified PDFs?

  • How to display in browser a password protected pdf file I created?

I created a password protected pdf file.
I want to display the file in browser so that viewers can only view it online.
It is better that viewers cannot download it.
But I donot know how to prevent viewers downloading the file.
Since the pdf is password protected, viewers don't have the password even they download it.
But how can I display the password protected pdf file in browser when I know the password?
Or is there a better to just viewers see the pdf file online and prevent them from downloading and printing it?

Any file on the web has to be copied to the local machine in order for the file content to be presented to the viewer. That's how the "www" is built.  So, to make use of your web based PDF the file has to be downloaded to the local machine. This might be to the local machine's temporary internet / browser cache or (via a 'save this to my computer') to some other location on the local machine's HDD. Bottom line -- web based files get downloaded this is the case for protected file or a non-protected file.
    Be well...

  • Password protect a USB printer?

I'm trying to figure out how to password protect a USB laser printer that is shared between two 10.4.x G5s. I don't mind altering the cupsd.conf file, I just need some clear directions. I looked at the CUPS documentation online, but found it a little less "user-friendly" than I'd like.
What I want to accomplish is that a password is required to print from either Mac, and, if possible, that the password is different than the user's login. I'd also welcome the recommendation of any third-party software that can do this.
    Thanks.
    G5 1.8 DP / 1gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

The first flash drive I ever bought was a Lexar 128mb and there was software that came installed on it to allow for password locking of the drive.
They don't have it for download anymore, and it didn't work for anything but a Lexar drive anyway.
There are several companies that make "universal" security programs for flash drives both Win and Mac.
Google "Password Protection for flash drives" and you'll be treated to a host of results. Your best bet may be here: http://www.rohos.com/free-encryption/

  • Password protection/ disabling picture downloading

I am constructing a website fro my photography business and I would like to offer my clients online proofs in the form of password protected album pages. I understand from a previous post that I can create an external password protected site on iweb and link it to my overall website. As far as password protection goes, can I assign specific passwords to specific people or would I have to create multiple external websites to have multiple client passwords?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What I think would work would be to create a site for each customer and then password protect that site with the customer's name and some password. The individual sites can be linked to from your primary site with text links and/or a photo that is linked to the customers page/site.
As far as using multiple sites and keeping them manageable I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites which I use as "pages" in my primary site. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • How to Password Protect  a Page of Your Mobile App

I am trying to password protect few pages of my mobile app. I am building the app using Jquery Mobile in Dreamweaver for IOS and Android. What is the best way to password protect a page? I am not looking to create a login page..I just want to create few password protected pages that require just one password. Is there a way to do it in Dreamweaver?
    Thank you

AFAIK, you cannot password protect one section of a jQuery Mobile page.  It's either all protected or it's not protected.
