I want to pay someone to help me convert Pagemaker file

I need to find someone to PAY to help me convert a Pagemaker 6.5 file to a PDF with Truetype embedded fonts.
I have spent 35 hours trying to figure it out. Sending how-to stuff does not work. I need to PAY someone to help me fix it please.
I have tried an amazing number of ways of trying to fix it, and nothing works.
It is a 280 page file. It is not worth it to me to buy Indesign to convert this one file. Please help.

I finally got the file to print out properly. I am so happy. Thank you, thank you to all of you who posted here. You were the key to my getting this to work! Here's what I learned:
I am using Windows XP. Really!
Pagemaker 6.5 is not good a creating a pdf with large files and particularly so if there are a lot of embedded images. I did have problems with a corrupt file because I was able to make a pdf with a simple file and then even that stopped working. Always make several backup copies of large files in case your file goes corrupt. Then you can go back to an earlier copy and start again.
It is important to do a "Save As" with a new file name before starting to create a pdf. This simplifies and compresses the file for easier pdf creation.
If you are starting a file from scratch that will be made into a pdf, use a Postscript font, not a TrueType font for fewer problems.
I finally ended up buying a copy of an upgrade from Pagemaker 6.5 to Pagemaker 7.0.2 on Ebay. It had a serial number. I know there could have been problems with that but for just one file I was willing to try it. I did not want to go through the possible long reworking if I imported the file into Indesign. Especially since there may have been problems with the resolution of images. Also with Pagemaker 7 there was Acrobat Distiller 6 that I installed. Before I only had version 5.
Open your file in Pagemaker 7: Then click on File, Export, Adobe PDF, Distill Now.
To check if embedded fonts in PDF: In Adobe Reader- File, Properties, Fonts.
For any new documents where I need a PDF with embedded fonts, I am going to use Indesign. But for this one file. Buying an upgrade to Pagemaker was worth it.
Optional: If your TrueType fonts are not embedding:
Outside of Pagemaker set up printer (you only do this once): Go to "Start" in Windows at bottom right of screen. In right column click on "Printers and Faxes". Right click on "PDFCreator". (This printer is created by installing PDFCreator program. I am not associated with them at all. Other programs will work too for this.) Select "Printing Prefrences", then "Layout", "Advanced", "Graphic", "Download as Softfont (Truetype)". Save.
Open Pagemaker document. In "File", "Document Setup", change printer to "PDFCreator".
On another topic, I think if would be nice if Adobe sold a light version of Indesign for people with simple needs. Buying a new version of Indesign for $650 for only 1 file is too much. Though as stated above they do have the online monthly program. But for people who only have occassional small needs for it a light version would be great.

Thanx for your response and commenting on our homepage. I wasn't aware of the problems you mentioned. However it has ranked on the first page of Google, etc for 20 years, so that's not my concern at this point.
The 2 most immediate things are getting rid of the A"s showing up on the table on oilfiltercrushers/truck_ofc.aspx and on /defaultnew.aspx , (the intended home page when I get it fixed,) I get a server error highlighting line 293

. Im not sure what to do about that...

Go to Adobe.com. Sign in with your userid and password that hast the subscription. Then use the manage Account button. The in manages account locate the plan you want to cancel and click on its manage plan link. In the manage plan click on the cancel plan link. There may be an early termination fer you yearly plan.

Help me convert my files!

Ok, some I am making an iMovie for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary, and I am using a screen capture program that saves files as .swf . I need help converting that file into something that iMovie can read. I have a demo .swf to .fla if that helps. Either a free converter, or one with a demo/trial is a must, since I am a cheap person. Need help in converting authorware files to HTML5

Hi,
I am using Windows7 64 bit OS, I have games written in Authorware and I want to convert this into HTML5. Can anybody help me in achieving this.
I went through some forums which says there is no direct conversion possible. But I want to know what possible way I have to convert Authroware files to HTML5.

There's no way to 'convert', you're looking at 'rebuild'.
You can export all assets/media from the Authorware file (File > Export) so that may help get all your assets in one place, but it's kind of a mess...no organization to those exported assets.
You can export the piece to XML, but there's no interpreter for that, so unless you build one, it's not that helpful.
Those two exports are a place to start but, otherwise, you'll need to rebuild the games.

Help on opening Pagemaker files....

My indesign CS5.5 stopped recognizing pgmaker 6.5 files. It did when I first installed (file open....PM 6.0-7.0 files) and no problem. No when I do that is does not show the files. If I click "show all files" and select any file I get the error message that "InDesign does not support the file format or a plug-in may be missing" I have seen numerous posts with this problem, but no joy on a workaround. Does anyone know the "plug-in" that needs to be downloaded or updated, or is there a fixable reason for this error? Thanks in advance for any help.

It works up to InDesign CS6. If not, you have either a later version, messed up your installation or the file is not a PageMaker file.

I want to pay someone to setup email on my server

I have a new server that I have setup, I am serving pages successfully Apache, MYSQL, PHP. I would like someone to step in and setup email for me, walk me throught the process of adding a user (so my peopel can have their own email addresses). DNS is working, websites are serving, I jsut can't get email.

I just did an "erase and install" on my computer, and when i drug everything back to my computer from the external hard drive. however, now i cant open microsoft word. i have an exam on tuesday that I need it for and i dont want to pay for it, HELP!

i cant seem to get it to open. it just says "microsoft word cannot open because of a problem"
ive tried dragging it from the harddrive to my applications folder, but its not working.
any suggestions?

I have xml file and i want to convert to text file ...
How do i write a perticular tag in perticular line by the time converting xml to text file using xsl ...
Ex:
input XML file:
<NAME> venkat </NAME>

output ASCII File:

In this example TAG <NAME> should write into line 245 and
TAG <ADDRESS> should write into line 300 etc...

you will have to create your own tool to generate your text file in order to truly ensure the position of your data in the text file.

HELP! Convert .mts files for Final Cut Pro 6

Please help!
I am a broadcast/video production teacher in California and we are struggling.
I just bought some Canon R10s to go with our F200s. We edit on FInal Cut Pro and we have 20 G5, PowerPC Macs.
How do we convert the video so we can edit in Final Cut?
I bought an MST converter. Log and transfer doesn't work (we don't have Intel computers), I have tried to change the sequence presets. Some things work, but converting takes forever, we have to render everything, Final Cut crashes, and the video will skip right before the frame starts.
When using the MTS converter, we convert using the settings: h.264, 30fps, 1500 bit rate.
What should we change? What can we do?
We put together a weekly 20 minute show, and if this continues, I will start to lose the kids.

Welcome to the forum,
Okay, as a starting point, if you're running G5s, you DO NOT want to transcode to h.264 for editing with. It IS NOT a working codec, it is a delivery codec, and/or an acquisition codec for many cameras. H.264 has a complex algorithm and is built on the mpeg4 format.
Without meaning to sound like a grumpy old man, the amount of times we see people on a daily basis coming to this forum with problems caused by editing in h.264, is just ridiculous.
I reiterate; Do not edit in h.264. You will grind your computers to a halt, and be rendering forever.
If you have the hard-drive space, you should transcode to ProRes and use that in FCP.

I bought my Zen Micro M to the HQ for servicing and I learnt that there's actually a video converter when we install the creative media source into our PC. Now my problem is that I did not see any converter except the audio converter. What should I do? Or do I have to download a converter from the net? If so, can someone be kind enough to tell me where should I download the converter from? I'm a complete IT idiot -_-

Hey I've solved the problem myself.. Perhaps you can try to reinstall the software again.. That's what I did and I saw a Media Toolbox with video converter inside. Hope that helps!!

Help with converting WMV files to quicktime movies for video ipod.

Is there a way to convert my movies that play with the windows media player to a movie file that Quicktime Pro can use to export to my video ipod?

File size is dicated by the bitrate of the file. From my review of (thousands) of WMV files there appears to be some compression in the WMV format that is not reapplied when save as to a MOV container is performed. You can see in get info the WMV file say 100MB has maybe 125-150MB of data when it is fully loaded in Quicktime.
Thus save as does not apply the WMV compression the same as native WMV is all I can assume and the new QT file (MOV container) is bigger than the source file is.
Exporting to any new QT format (say H264) is going to make a file that is dependent on the new QT bitrate you select but if it is higher than the bitrate shown in the Get Info Inspector box when the original WMV has been opened it will be bigger without a doubt. So if you have a 3Mb/sec WMV file that you export to 700 kb/sec for iPod basic it should be 1/4 of the size. Use 5Mb/sec fo Apple TV it should be 2/3 larger.
I rarely use QT Pro to export and when I do I don't use default settings. I prefer MPEG Streamclip which offers easier control of variables, batch file processing, deinterlacing and other things and it is free.

The OPT file is nothing but just a text file. You can have it named .Txt, .cfg, .zie, or whatever.
It's used for the converter application which is nicely wrapped for you in a bat file.
The command line would read : converter -config < name of config file >
To pick apart the commands, just run : converter and you should see the it spit out the options. It's just nicer to have it in a config file instead of typing it all of the time on the command line.
Take a peek at your JCDevKit_User_Guide.pdf and read about the Converter.
