I want to physically move my drive and have TM seemlessly keep backing up

Hi,
I just replaced my Belkin router with an Apple Extreme Base Station. Now I can connect my Time Machine backup drive to the Base Station and not have to take it around to my individual computers and back them up manually anymore. I pointed my Time Machine to the new location of it's drive but when it tries to back up to it, it doesn't realize those files have already been backed up. So it wants to back up "everything" again instead of anything which has changed since the old backup. Well, first of all, I don't have enough room for two complete backups in the folder. And second of all, I would like to do this right and have Time Machine adding to the old data like it should. Is there anything I can do? Otherwise I fear I'll have to erase all the old data and just start fresh backups.

Sounds good, but isn't. I hate to have to tell you this, but backing-up that way is "iffy" and +*not supported by Apple.+* See: [Using Time Machine with an Airport Extreme Air Disk|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Airport.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
There may be an alternative, though, if any of your Macs are desktops. Connect the drive to it, and back it up locally; then back up the others to the same drive over your network, via sharing. See #22 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for setup instructions.

Correct. Time Machine stores backups differently when they're done over a network, and you can't switch back and forth. See the blue box in #17 of the FAQ.
That will also apply if you back up to a shared drive over your network. So your best bet will be to erase the disk, partition it so the Mac it's connected to directly has it's own exclusive space, and either let the ones being backed-up over the network share a single partition, or make one for each Mac.

Monday I ended up on the phone with Apple Support just to be sure I was doing the right thing and to check my back up info so I could be sure I didn't loose important data. They were very nice and helped me finish the process. When I told the tech that I couldn't download the new update and install from my iphone that is when I went to the computer and that's when I got this recovery mode thing on my phone. He told me there must have been a problem and that is why he thinks I couldn't down load it from the phone. I had to go to ITunes on my computer. Once we did the recovery we were able to check that I had a back up from the day before, so I didn't loose anything. He stayed with me til the process finished. I also found out I can prevent the auto sync for the future by setting the directions on that.
I am good now and my phone is operating fine, with the new update. Thank you all who commented back to me.

I had toclear the hard drive of my computer and reinstall Windows 7. Now I want to transfer all the music and photos from my iPad back onto my computer. I authorized the computer (it is the ONLY computer authorized on this account - and this is the ONLY account on this iPad). ITunes then downloaded my purchases...or at least it tried - out of the hundreds of tracks I have purchased, it managed one album that I bought over a year ago and NOTHING else. So I tried to Sync - since on older versions of iTunes (that were SO MUCH MORE user friendly) that would do the job -transferring things that were only on the iPad onto the computer and vice versa. It doesn't do that anymore. So I went from my iPad's summary to the Music tab - the box for Music was not checked but when I checked it said the only thing it could do was erase EVERYTHING from my iPad and replace it with what was on my computer (that ONE album). What is going on?

Step 1 - copy the relevant folders to your external drive.
For iTunes, that would be yourusername/Music/iTunes (and everything underneath it, exactly as is).
For iPhoto that would be yourusername/Pictures/iPhoto Library
Step 2 - next time you start iTunes (and iPhoto) hold down the Option key while you click the application icon. You will get a question box that will allow you to point iTunes (and iPhoto) to the new location on your external drive.
Step 3 - after verifying that everything is working correctly with the libraries on your external drive, delete them from your internal drive. Be sure to empty the trash.
As always, it is best practice to always have a backup copy of your data ... just in case something goes wrong.

First you should deactivate any Adobe programs you have installed so that you free up the activation for when you want to reinstall. When you are ready to reinstall, do so using the installation files - transferring generally does not work.
Before you do anything you might want to check to make sure you have access to installation files for reinstalling the program(s).

When you convert your files using ExportPDF or Adobe PDF Pack, files are automatically saved to your online account. But, you can log on to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files, select the file that you want to store on your hard disk, and then click the Download link at the top of the file list.

He keeps telling me that , there is no way for us both to have it. So, since his Apple ID was the one programmed into our Apple TV's he has custody to everything. I know there has to be a solution for this, because I can't be the be the only person this has ever happened too!

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

Please ignore PowerPoint comment, I can make the 3D PDF no problem with my converter plug-in for AutoCAD. Once it is made though you can spin it by hand/mouse in Adobe. but I want a video like scene with the object spinning by itself for modeling purposes?

Firefox doesn't have an "export" feature built into it for password data.
Exactly what did you do to "export" your passwords?

If you copied the two files that are used for storing passwords from the old computer to back them up, just copy those 2 files into the Profile folder on the new computer to restore them.

How do i transfer my iphoto events to an external hard drive and have the pictures remain within their original events? Every time i try it splits up all of my pictures one by one. You'd think you'd be able to just drag and drop the event, but no such luck. Help!!

What version of iPhtoo do you have?
To export the photos in an event use the file menu == export command - see the user tip on exporting for the available options
TO use your iPhoto library on an external drive
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

You can redownload your iTunes store purchases, but you'll need a backup to recover the playlists.
