I want to print but printer wants to fax

i have a hp officejet 6500 e709 series and i want to print a document but it wants to fax it. How do I rectify this anomaly ?

From the used Application, click File > Print
Then make sure the HP 6500 E709 Series is selected, and not the HP 6500 E709 Series Fax.
As well, enter Control panel, then the printers management
(XP = Printers and Faxes, Vista = Printers, 7Win7 = Devices and Printers)
Make sure the HP 6500 E709 Series is set as default (V mark above), otherwise right-click on it and set as default for future use.

  • I want to fax from my mac using a Brother MFC-7220 Printer/fax

I'm currently using a Brother MFC-7220 Printer/Fax machine with my Mac Mini, attached via USB.
It works great as a printer, but I want to fax from within Mac Applications using the 7220.
I tried going "File/Print, then selecting the PDF pull down menu in the lower left corner of the print management window. I selected "Fax PDF..." but the system comes back with a "No Fax Modems Found.." message.
    Any suggestions/solutions ?
    Thanks

You may need to install the Brother drivers.
By default, Mac OS X only installs the printer drivers, ignoring other features of multi-function devices. By installing the vendor's driver you gain access to the other features.
In this case you should find that installing the driver enables a new printer option - Brother MFC-7220 (Fax) - which can be used to send your fax. So now faxing is as simple as choosing 'Print' and selecting the 'Fax' option from the list of available printers.

  • In Leopard, Can't print to Canon Imageclass MF4150 - wants to FAX

Although I do not have my print dialogue box set for fax,it is definitelyset for printing, the document won't print because it says I have no recipients. What do I do about this?

There are two different drivers available for the MF4150. The UFR2 driver for printing and the Fax driver for, well, faxing. It sounds like you may have chosen the fax driver when you created the printer queue. If you open System Preferences > Print & Fax and select the printer, in the right pane will be the entry Kind. This should say something like 'MF4150 UFR2 (LT)'. If the word Fax is showing instead then that is the problem.
Or, when you created the printer queue, you should have seen two entries in the default browser view (if the printer is connected via USB). Maybe you selected the one that said Fax?
The first thing I would do is ensure you have the UFR2 driver installed. If you don't remember installing this software, you can easily tell if it is present by opening Finder and navigating to Library/Printers/Canon. If the driver software is installed you will see the folder UFR2. If the folder isn't there, download the latest version of 1.70 from Canon and run the installer.
With the UFR2 driver installed, choose to add a printer and select the one that doesn't show fax (if connected by USB). If it is networked, select More Printers then Canon IP (UFR2). Then input the ip address of the 4150 and OK. The software should automatically select the correct printer model.

  • All in One Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax Recommendations

    Hi,
I'm looking to purchase an all in one printer/scanner/copier/fax device. I was wondering what recommendations other people have. The main purpose would be to print photos, scan photos and some small business office printing. Note, a fax would be nice, but is not absolutely neccessary.
Scanning photos would be important, since I plan to scan our family's photo albums into iPhoto.
Also, is there a printer than can communicate with the Mini using bluetooth? If so , does it work well?
Since I have limited desk space, size would be an issue (smaller the better).
Looking to spend about $200, slightly more if the cost justifies itself. Less is always better.
    Thanks in advance!

    The Brother MFC-420cn
    http://www.brother-usa.com/MFC/ModelDetail.aspx?ProductID=MFC420CN
does everything you ask for less than $100 -- except bluetooth.
The Pluses: Good Mac software. Cheap ink. Networkable.
The construction is flimsy plastic, but if you are gentle it will hold up.
    Definitely small footprint.
Paper path is 180 degrees, which is not my preference.
Personally, I prefer Epson all-in-ones. Also good Mac software and 80 degree paper path for less jamming. Exceptional scan quality.

What multifunction (all-in-one) BW laserjet printers work with Mac OS 10.9 and 10.8? - Printing, scanning and faxing!
I had a HP3052 whith a scaner message error 5 which can't print anymore. Anyway scanning with this HP is not supported anymore. So looking into the huge HP compatibility list on the web I see no good choice:

The new HP LaserJet M127fn MFP  duplex is not even on this list...
I prefer laser than ink printers (I hate buying cartridges every month or have the system stuck with dry ink when not used for a month).
There are some good brother laserprinters, e.g. MFC7860DW, but PC-Fax doesn't work on Mac (I believe).
Thanks to anybody with some good ideas.

Thanks baltwo, but I am looking for a printer-copier-scanner-fax machine. I think I might go with the brother

  • SAP faxing from all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner/fax) device

    Hi,
We have a all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax (Ricoh Aficio 3025) and would like to make use of it to send fax from SAP.
I know how to set it up as a printer.  But how should I go about setting it up to send fax?
    Can someone help?
    Thanks in advance.
Edited by: Sisab Nimda on Jan 8, 2009 2:38 PM

You can't just set it up as a fax... you need a fax server in order to send faxes  (I.E. Rightfax)... basically the way it works is that you create a node in SCOT for faxes and send the data to the fax server via SMTP and the fax server deliver the fax to your hardware.
    Check the SMTP guide,

  • Printer will not print, just see fax screen

When I choose print from my computer I get a screen that is for faxing, i don't have a phone line to my printer and never fax.  . I would like to remove this fax option screen and just print. I have tried unplugging and looking under settings on my computer and nothing looks like it has changed.

    Hi,
Thanks for your feedback.  If it is all in one printer, there will be two driver, Print and Fax.  When you try to print, you should be able to choose the printer.
Or you can make print as default printer:
In your PC, go to Start->Control Panel -> Hardware and sound->devices and printer.
Right click on the printer and choose set as default printer.
If you are not able to find that, then you can install print and scan doctor, it will automatically set for you.
Here is the link to install Print and scan doctor software.

  • I want to recieve FAX on my MAC desktop but there is no fax tab in the systems:printers and faxes

I have a MAC laptop and want to recieve faxes on my computer, but the Systems: printer and fax tab does not have a faxes choice.  what do I need to do to set it up?

You need a phone line and a USB dial-up card. Otherwise use an online service such as eFax.
Or the modern equivalent is to get a scan/PDF of the file.

  • I want to fax from my computer, but get a message that I don't have an internal modem. Now what?

I went to print, PDF and then fax PDF. But got a message that I don't have an internal fax. Is there something I need to buy and install?

You need an external USB modem in order to fax. There is no fax modem built-in. This should work.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7780 Print,Copy,Scan,Fax

We have used the HP L7780 as a stand-alone copier (not connected to a computer or a network).
We are now ready to donate the unit, which still works well, but are concerned that its internal memory (or disk drive) may store images of copied data which is sensitive information.
How can we erase/overwrite that memory without destroying the operating system?
We want the printer/copier to be functional for the new owner.
    This question was solved.

    Hi TechUserOKC,
If you have only used the printer as a stand-alone copier without connecting it to a computer or network then you don't have to worry about images or data being stored in the unit. However, if you have faxed with this machine there is a chance images from faxes could be stored and saved in the internal memory. In this case you would need to restore the factory defaults on the printer.

  • Deskjet F380 All in One; pdf printing to a fax printer which doesn't exist

For some reason anytime we try to print a pdf (or photo) the pc will not let us select our HP F380 All in One printer, but instead will only let us select a Fax printer.  I have no idea where that would have come from as I have never faxed from this computer.
Any ideas?  I have no idea if it is a problem with the printer or pc or both.  Hope someone has some suggestions.

The F380 has no wireless capabilities - so using the usb cable is mandatory if you want to print from your G72.
If you still want to print wireless
what you could do is to buy a printserver - so you connect your printer to the printserver and this can work wireless towards your G72.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Print_server
    Another option
If you want to  get wireless is to get a Wireless printer , were this funcionality is build in.
an HP wireless printer would be the F4580.
I work for HP but posts and replies are my own.

  • I can't print scan or fax from my HP OFFICEJET 4620 on the microsoft 8.1 operating system

Help! I am getting the error message scanner unreachable when trying to print or fax continue to get error messages. The disk included with the printer is not campatible with the 8.1operating system. I went to HP for a driver to fix this problem but Hp had an  an error message on their website. Thank you

     Hi @Nannu ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Officejet 4620 Printer and loading the drivers for Windows 8.1. Here is a link to the HP Print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor will run a check on your system and check your printer.
Are you able to make a copy on the Printer?
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet.  Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
