I realize that you're entranced by it, and I hate to say anything negative, but from a realistic standpoint, even if you can get some use out of it now, how long will you be able to do that before the age simply catches up? at some point it will be a museum piece.
If you have the space for it, then that's not an issue. If you can avoid spending too much money (used hard drive, used RAM), then that's not much of an issue either. If you want to put in an original Airport card, I'd probably draw the line unless you can steal one. Then again, if you really do want to have it around for a long time, at some point I'd think an original Airport card will be available at a much cheaper price, and I'd look for one later.
From an operating standpoint, your biggest concern has to be the condition of the CRT and its past usage. If it's had hard institutional use, you could get a big CRT bill too soon. If it's been used by a little old lady only on weekends, then you're golden!

the only limits you'll face is if any of your iPod touch apps are for the iPhone only, they'll show up as tiny in the middle of the screen. There'll be a 2X button that'll allow you to zoom it up...some look better than others. All depends on how high resolution they are made.
Other apps will be in the app store with a + by them, those are universal and scale to fit the screen they are displayed on. Other apps you'll need to buy the iPad version. And you'll find some apps that are iPad only.

You can't currently gift Mac App Store apps. The best that you could do is send an electronic gift certificate to cover the cost of the app. You can buy the gift certificate through the iTunes app.

If the email hasn't arrived after a few hours and isn't in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

If you want to use your current ID you will either have to provide a credit card or redeem an iTunes gift card. Otherwise you can create a new ID without a credit card to purchase free apps by following this exactly as written: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534.

You cannot use the Japanese iTunes Store unless are physically present there and have a Japanese payment method. This applies even for free apps; you cannot get them from the Japanese iTunes Store if you are in the US.
If you are in Japan, you can set up a new iTunes Store account just to get free apps. See:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
If you have moved to Japan and wish to change the country of your account permanently, you can contact the iTunes Store and ask them to clear your remaining balance. You will need to be able to provide a Japanese payment method, though.

Apple doesn't sell iWork that way anymore.
You have to get it from the Mac App Store if you want to purchase from Apple, or purchase a disk from a software retailler like Amazon. They're quite cheap online now.
If you do purchase an iWork '09 disk, you will need to trash the trial copy and any plist files it has generated before you install it.

How Can You Tell if a Song You WANT to Purchase can be a Ringtone?

Sorry, I would have posted this in the iTunes folder, but it's not allowing me to post there for some reason.
Anyways, does anyone know how you can tell if a song you WANT to purchase is available as a ringtone? I know that if you already have purchased songs then your library will have a ringtone column which let's you know if the song is available as a ringtone. What I specifically want to know is if there is any way to find out if a song you WANT to purchase is availble as ringtone BEFORE you purchase it. I have all appropriate ringtone boxes checked off in preferences and "view preferences." However, when I go to the iTunes store, none of the songs in the store have any information on whether or not they are available as ringtones. I don't want to buy a song, especially if I'm just getting it for ringtone purposes, and then find out that it's not available as a ringtone.
And yes, I have the latest version of iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. With the purchase of my iPhone I am a first time user of iTunes (I used to use only Rhapsody and Napster). So far iTunes has been a challenge to use. I'm trying to get used to it, but it's difficult. And it seems like basic information, such as if a song is available as a ringtone before purchase, is not easily forthcoming.

Okay, I don't know why, but the bell was not showing on the iTunes store. I re-checked "ringtones" on the view preferences and reloaded iTunes and now the bell column is there. Thanks to the both of you.
BTW, there aren't very many songs available for rintones are there? I really miss Cingular's media.net. There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to access that. Media.net has way more options for ringtones then iTunes.
