Are you inserting the original grey disc? Could be that your install disc is damaged. You can get replacements by calling Apple and providing them with the serial number of the iMac and a credit card to cover the nominal fee.

You're better off with Snow Leopard in my opinion though, for the time being it still gets security updates that Leopard no longer does.
Also be sure that other DVDs work and not just CDs....the SuperDrive uses separate lasers for each.

Hi Jeff. I did purchase Premiere Elements 8 from Adobe (download version), but couldn't find the files to download again on the adobe.com website. I did, however carry out another search of files from my old PC and eventually found the files to reinstall on my new PC, using my registered product serial no. Installation has worked. It seems that Adobe has stopped supporting version 8 as I could only find version 9 and later for download from the adobe.com website.

It has been available at some online retailers (Amazon) and EBay – but only as part of the discontinued Final Cut Studio suite. It would be cost--prohibitive to buy and there are other more cost-effective solutions. Depending on what you need to do, MPEG Streamclip might be a (free) solution. There are others – Episode, for example, which is not cheap at $500– but less than haf the cost of buying an used copy of FCS.
Another approach (and the one I would follow in your situation) would be to install Mavericks on an external, bootable drive. Run a copy of FCP 10.1 and Compressor 4.1 from that drive.

I don't think you can actually download the install DVD. If you call Apple they can send you the install DVD for a nominal fee +S&H. You will need to provide them with the serial number for your Mac to see if it's registered to you.

RobUnfortunately, even if there were a download link it wouldn't help. PSE 6 had different serial numbers for downloads and boxed versions that were mutually incompatible, and back then you couldn't just enter a serial number into the trial. That's probably why adobe doesn't have a download available for PSe 6.
