I want to recover a previous iphone backup data

I backed up my data from my iPhone on my Macbook Pro, and accidentaly synced it again, which over-wrote the previous back up. And now I need my original back up as it contains all my data. How can i recover data from my previous back-up? Please Help!

Unless you use Time Machine or another backup plan, you can't. iTunes only keeps one normal iPhone backup, it's actually an incremental backup in that only data that has changed is actually backed up or overwritten.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

I just Backed-up my iphone data on itunes and now i dont know where to find it. Where do i go to retrieve my iphone backup data?

    You don't "retrieve it"
You can restore your iphone from the last backup to put the info back on the iphone.

  • HT201272 How to retrieve previous iphone backup from laptop to sync onto new iphone?  Keeps asking for a passcode before it will restore the backup.  No idea what the passcode is.

I backed up my previous iphone the other day in anticipation of it being replaced (wifi stayed grey non stop) and now I have my new phone and want to put all of my old data on but it keeps asking for a passcode before restoring the backup.  I've put in what I thought it would be but get nowhere.  How do I get the password or change it?

If your iPhone was passcode protected, check out the first section here.
Or it could be that the backup itself was encrypted in iTunes; that is discssued further down in this same article.

  • Help - Previous iPhone backup not recognized after 2.0 upgrade

I updated to iPhone software version 2.0 today. Prior to doing so, I synced the phone, then made a clone of my hard drive using SuperDuper!. Before the upgrade everything was working normally.
I'd previously had a total of 3 iPhones synced with this computer. One phone was last backed up August 07, one was last backed up December 07, and my current iPhone should have been backed up earlier today when I synced my phone. (Am I incorrect in assuming that the phone is backed up with every sync?)
Anyway, after updating the software, the iPhone was restored to factory settings, then I was prompted to restore data from a backup. The problem here is that the only iPhone backup listed by iTunes was the December 07 backup - it did not list the other two backups (August 07 and today). I didn't want to write over my phone with old data, so I set it up as a new phone, assuming I would be able to locate this morning's backup and restore from that.
Now the problem is, this morning's backup appears nowhere. In Syncing Preferences in iTunes, I get three iPhone backups listed: 1. backed up on August 07, 2. backed up on December 07 and 3. Backed up after being configured as a new iPhone.
I hope I haven't lost you all at this point
Anyway, my calendars, contacts, email, etc all appear OK, but I have lost my notes and settings. I suspect this morning's iPhone backup should be on the clone I made of my drive prior to the upgrade, but I'm not sure where to locate it or how to get it transfered back over to my Mac.
On my cloned backup, I have located this folder:
    ~Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/<LongStringOfCharacters>
This folder appears to have the right modification date (my sync right before my 2.0 upgrade).
If I simply copy that folder over to my Mac, will iTunes recognize the backup and allow me to use it to restore my iPhone?
Or can any one recommend anything else I can do to get my notes and settings back?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dawn

I just installed iTunes from a direct download from apple about a week ago, and it updated itself earlier today. It states it is iTunes version 7.7.1.11.
iTunes does not even recognize that the iPhone is connected anymore.
I've rebooted, disconnected and reconnected the phone several times, I can't seem to make anything happen

  • Recovering a previous iTunes backup?

Alright, so I have had my iPod touch (4th gen) for a few years now and have taken fairly good care of it. Over the past summer (May-September 2013) I've taken many photos with it, written notes and events in the calander as well as using the other utulities on the iPod. Unfortunately, it started acting up in mid-October. The iPod was completely unfunctional; it kept resetting itself without even showing the unlock screen. The iPod would show the Apple logo (as if it was restarting) but then turn to a black screen that would stay on the screen from a few minutes to a few hours, then flash a white screen and start the whole process again. I took it to the Apple store to get it fixed, but to have it fixed all the data that was on it would be wiped clean. I told the Apple helper to go ahead and try to fix it, as it wasn't functional anyways and thankfully they restored it as if it was a new ipod!
Unfortunatly, the data that I had on that iPod had gone a few months worth without a backup, so I lost a lot of data I would like to get back. I know I should have been more frequent with the backups, but as I didn't I'd like to see if there is a way to recover information from a previous backup.
I do not know if its possible to recover an iTunes backup from a specific time, or specific backup. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know!
    Thank you!

You can recover from the last backup.

  • HT1212 my phone is disabled and says connect to iTunes but i want to recover and save all my data's and pictures before restore

my phone is disabled and says connect to itunes but i want to recover my data's and pictures before restoring it with itunes.

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you haven't synced it to that computer before then you won't have a backup on it to restore your content from. Do you have any of your content on it for re-sycning and/or have you been backing up to the cloud ?
You can re-download your apps (if they are still in the store) via the Purchased tab in the App Store app, and you may be able to re-download music, films and tv shows via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.

  • Need Urgent help please? I need to restore from a previous iphone backup.

Oops, I admit it - I messed up but need help please?? I received a replacement iphone today. My broken iphone OS and my itunes had the latest software updates and I did a full backup before going to the store to get the rerplacement. However, when I got home with the replacement iphone and plugged it in, it asked if I wanted to update the OS on it. I made the mistake of saying yes. It then made a backup of the empty factory settings from the new replacement and restored from that rahter than the backup I made before going to the store. Yes I know I should have said no and just did the restore which would have resotred my previous backup that I made before going to the store. Then after everything would be allright I could have told it to update the OS.
You can slap my in the face or I will do it myslef for making such a stupid mistake. All ready did the "I should have had a V" thing to my forehead.
After seeing the restore was fromthe factory settings rather than my earlier good backup, I went into my documents and drilled down to the mobile sync backup and saw that one of the three folders (with giberish as a title) has a lot of information with the date and time I did the backup before going to the store.
Could I possibly delete the later (factory setting backup) folder and then do a restore to get my good backup onto the iphone? I didn't do that yet in fear that it might mess something else up on the iphone and I wanted to check with you experts here first for guidance and assistance, PLEASE?
I'll be anxiously awaiting any help you can give!
    Thank you!!

It took me a long time to get back to the dissucison group because I tried both of your suggestions which therfore had to do about 4 restores. They take quite a while (about 50 minutes each actually). Your help got me half way there and is very apprecaited! I did manage (with your excellent help) to get most of my backup put onto the replaced iphone. the photos, music, and videos didn't get put over. I think I can move those back over by making sure they are selected in the seperate tabbed screens for the iphone. However, I can't get to those screens because every time I connect the iphone now, it brings up the "set up your phone screen". The one with the "an iphone has been previously synced with this compter" setup as new phone or restore from ....
Well I did the resotre from 3 times and that page still comes up when I plug in the iphone. Yes, I did close itunes, reboot the PC, and powered off the iphone and then brouhgt it back up before connecting (all several times), but itunes still takes me to the same "setup iphone screen".
Can you help me to get it to the standard iphone screen and there I will make sure the selected items are checked and do a sync.
Please know I do appreicate your kind assistance so far and hope someone can get me the rest of the way!
The "Backup" do not store your Applications, Music, Video's. It saves your settings, your application preferences, etc.

  • How do I or can I recover an overwritten iPhone Backup?

I have just upgraded to iOS7 from iOS5 on my iPhone 4, I had a backup and saw it once, the second time I tried, couldnt find it, there is a backup but not the one I am looking for. I am guessing it has been over ridden by iTunes. Is there any way to get it back.

Since an embedded smart object is, well, embedded, there's no way to just convert. You'll have to point a link somewhere.
If you want to keep the smart object as is, open it and "Save As" to a new location, then link to that (Place Linked). Then delete the old.

  • How do I get the "previous" Iphone backup from Itunes?

I restored my Iphone but ran out of disc space on C:/ when I restored my backup.
When I connected my Iphone again - it made a fresh backup of the restoed "clean" Iphone.
How can I get hold of the previous backup?

    Hi Greg
Thanks for reply. Yes - it unfortunately did do quick "blank" backup before I could stop it.
When I go to Preferences and device - I do not see the older backups? FOr example I can see the following backups - but it does not show to select it:
    D:\Documents and Settings\Ario\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\f42dcf2432719c4572955dcab11b6e67439912b0
I can also see other backups on my previuous PC:
    I:\Dirk Burned PC Backup\user\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\42212401cdb9ec1a500c9291bf83ca8661d55c2e
I also have a 2 day old backup that I can see at my work PC in a similar way.
Is there any way I can get to these backups?  When I log onto Itunes, and I right click on my Iphone, I can restore - but then the selection is only shopwing my latest backup - which is the blank one.

  • Is it possible to recover photos from iPhone backup?

I bought an iPhone 5 and had to upgrade the OS on my Mac before I could sync with iTunes. I used the phone for a week before I was able to upgrade. After the upgrade I connected the phone to iTunes and restored from the last backup of my iPhone 3GS. All my apps, contacts, photos, songs, etc. restored perfectly to the new phone but I forgot to get the new photos out before the restore.
I think I already know the answer but is there anyway there's some sort of backup saved on my computer that will allow me to retrieve those new photos that I took before I restored the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 3GS. I never did a sync with iTunes. I just connected and clicked restore.
Did it magically backup what was on the phone before I restored? I can dream, can't I?

Thanks but with the free version i can see some files, but i have to pay hundred bucks for being able to restore???
And i am not sure if it is those one :-(
Anyway thank you for your quick answer
    Daniel
