Step by step
1. Tap iTunes Store
2. Tap Music and scroll to bottom
3. Tap Redeem
4. Peel off label and enter code
5. You can now download your app, game, music or movies

We got a iTunes gift card, so we tried to buy an album I entered the verification code on the back of the card. the top righthand side of the screen successfully registered the $15. Then when I went to buy an album, it wouldn't let me unless I entered credit card information. Why does it demand my credit card when I am not paying by credit card? I have a gift card I'd love to use, but I can't for the life of me figure out where to go to redeem it. The store wants to automatically put it on my credit card, which is not what I want. I can find no options for entering a gift card at all.

To be honest I'm not sure you can do do that from the Apple TV, but if you can you'd need to redeem in iTunes prior to rental, so it may be just as easy to rent your movie in iTunes too, then transfer it to the Apple TV 1.

You need to set up an Apple ID for use with the iTunes Store before you can redeem anything in the iTunes Store. You don’t need to enter credit card information to redeem only the amount of a gift certificate or card.

I can only imagine how upset I would be to discover that over $1000 in gift card funds seemed to be missing. I thought So too but then I went to Itunes Library and try and buy a single song from an album for $1.29. Now my Itunes Gift card balance is $ 7.10 as I mentioned earlier. it still did not let me buy and kept trying billing my Visa card.
Should I restart my PC and Itunes and retry. What do you suggest?

Problem with redeeming Itunes gift cards.

I have a problem redeeming Itunes gift card. Got a message about the ID has not been yet used with the Itunes store and was ask to review my account information. During the prosess I alway was stopped by the message that I have to contact Itunes support.
I have tried serveral times and stil can not access the app store.
Please help!

Try viewing or updating your account and payment informaiton by clicking iTunes > Store > View My Account, enter your password > edit the Payment Type under Apple ID Summary.

After establishing the Credit Card account (i.e. after you have made purchases), you can remove the credit card information by editing your payment info, choosing "None".
Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID>View Apple ID>Sign-in>Payment Information

then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.

If not then you will need to create a new account, and follow the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it.
