I want to redirect an iWeb web site.

Hello,
I want to be able to use my own name for the site rather then the one that is provided to me when I publish the site. example www.myname.com is this possible? Thank You.

My recommendation would be to go some place like http://www.godaddy.com and register your own domain name. Then you can set up an included feature called "Domain Forwarding" and enter in your iWeb short URL (http://web.mac.com/yourname). Then everyone who types in your new domain name will be forwarded to your iWeb pages automatically.

  • Hi. I made a new version of my web site in Muse and want to "redirect" my old web site to my new one

Hello. When I launch my new web site, how do I redirect the old "home page" to the new "home page"?
There are photos of my dogs online when you search for "traditional red nose American Pit Bull Terriers".
Would I be able to do a "redirect" from my old males page of say a dog named "Thaylen" to the new "Thaylen" page built by Muse?
I like the fact that Google uses my pictures and do not want them to get use to "a broken link" to a photo they would usually show on a search.
    Thank you.

This is not something you would do in Muse, but that needs to be taken care of at the Web Server where you are hosting your website.
You may talk to your old site's host and ask to add redirects to new site's content to avoid landing on broken/outdated pages.
    Thanks,
    Vikas

  • I get redirected to unwanted web sites during searches from the browser ONLY, never from the toolbar. Is this the same malware problem as discribed for redirects from BOTH the browser and the toolbar?

Did you do a malware check?
Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

  • I am still getting redirected to various web sites when using Safari.  My PC is not affected but my I phone and I pad are.  I have reset my router and changed my admin name and password.  I am still being redirected.

Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information.  Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection.  Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect.

What is the best way to convert audio recording to PM3 and play on iWeb web site? I know nothing about this subject. Help please.

I hate iTunes and for quick conversions use the freeware Vox....

    nothing moves AT ALL
Galileo said otherwise a few hundred years ago.
    Anyway, one more try.
Go here and login : https://www.me.com/idisk/
Click the gear icon and pull down the menu and select preferences. Procede as in the image earlier :
Navigate to the Web > Sites folder until you see the folder with your sitename.
Then select the folder/files you want to delete and click the trash icon.
If that's impossible to do, then wait for MobileMe to delete everything for you next year.

  • Can I avoid being redirected to "mobile" web sites?

Whenever I go on sites like CNN or, lately espn, I am automatically redirected to their mobile site instead. This is not what I want. Can I stop it??

I see the mod's been busy on this thread. I hope we're allowed to post links? Here's your link to the CNN.com non-mobile site:
    http://www.CNN.com/index.html
It could be useful if someone would put together a list of links such as this on a website some place for the most popular sites. Or it could be a legitimate iPhone update that people want to be able to disable the auto redirect beause they feel they have enough speed and bandwidth, or otherwise prefer the regular site
I tried using Google to search for the link but wasn't very successful. Why don't you guys post some feedback to your friendly Apple support on the subject?
PS: If your guys are going to charge you for mobile site access, I have a hard time believing they're not going to nickel and dime you for data downloaded for regular sites. Do you have unlimited Internet through your provider? But I guess that's beside the point. Basically, if you don't want to rely on external sources for getting your links, you will have to pay your provider the $36 a year for mobile site access so you can get to the sites you want easily, until Apple upgrades the phone or someone writes an App. Heck, there may be one out there already! You do like your phone otherwise, don't you?

  • I am redirected to Chinese web site to buy Skype c...

As an US customer, (profile indicates I live in Plano, Texas) ever time I tried to purchase Skype credits by clicking on "Buy Skype credits" within Skype, I am redirected to this Chinese web site:
    http://skype.gmw.cn/product/productlist.html
It lists all the prices in RMB.  When select any of these,  it asks me to enter my bank account in China.
    What a joke....
How do people in the US buy Skype credits in US dollars?  Is that even possible?

Our database indicates that you established your account in China which is why you are redirected to this website. To unlink this please contact Skype customer service

  • I want to work on my web-site and switch back and forth between the public view and the admin view but Firefox keeps closing one of them - how do I disarm this?

Before upgrading to this version of Firefox I could simultaneously have my public version and my admin version of my web-site open. I could make changes in the admin version and then check to make sure the public version registered and displayed the changes just as I wanted them. Now it keeps switching so both of them are public or both of them are admin. I want to know how to disarm this function. Thanks!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Leopard Server redirecting the default web site

Because my company's website and my blog are dynamic I had to use mod_jk in order to redirect to JBoss which means that I cannot access the default Mac OS X Server web site any longer.
    In the httpd.conf I added a mod_jk redirection for '/' and '/*'.
Any ideas how I make them appear again under a sub context like '/internal'.
    Thanks

Eventually I created an internal web site that would not use mod_jk and so is happily redirecting me to the old, default website. The only thing that was important is to make sure that I removed '*' from the web server aliases.

  • When I go to many web sites, I get a CONFIRM pop up message that asks me if I really want to go to this web site. Can this message be suppressed?

    The messages reads "
    ? CONFIRM
You are about to log in to the site "sitename" with the username "myname" , but the website does not require authentication. This may be an attempt to trick you.
Is "sitename" the site you want to visit.

I have solved the problem by deleting all cookies.
    Tools>Options
Then in Privacy>Show cookies, I have chosen "Remove all cookies"
(This is a translation from the Italian version, so maybe the actual English commands could be slightly different).
I noticed also that stopping the cricinfo page from a complete upload did stop the redirection, that's why I guessed it was from the cookies

  • Redirection from a web site to another one

    Hello all
Please stay with me. I will try to explain
A client has been using a domain name in France for over a year now. Something like
    www.thedentist.com
I was not aware that dentistes in France hade to mention their profession in the url.
so I created a new one
    something like
    www.dentalclinic.com. That has been approved
Is there any way i could get all existing clients that have been using the old URL to be redirected to the new one?
So when they go to www.thedentist.com they end up to www.dentalclinic.com
    I hope this make sence
    Regards
    M

Your question is probably better to ask in a web design forum since there may be ways having a server do the redirect.  Try the Dreamweaver forum...
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver/dreamweaver_general
To do it thru the site deisgn you need to use redirect linking, which is probably not looked upon with favor when it comes to SEO

  • IWEB, web site not displaying to scale on the iPAD ?

my web page has been created and is maintained using iWEB, I have found the web page does not display scaled correctly when accessed using an iPAD>?

Your website displays fine on an iPad. The problem is the word "Scubabitz" which is overflowing the content area in iOS.
You have used the Impact font for this and, although it is websafe, it is not supported in iOS for some reason. The browser is substituting a fallback font which renders larger than Impact for the same font size setting.
You need to reduce the font size until it renders OK on an iPad or use another font.
Here's a comment about Impact from an article about which fonts NEVER to use on a website...
"Impact is the standard choice for office handouts and amateur mailing list items, and it should never be used for a professional logo or public document. Avoid it, and opt for a wider font for your headlines."
