I want to reinstall my operating system,How can I back up all my add ons, extensions and personas for reinstallation when Im done?
Im using fire ftp,downthem all,wot , antiporn pro,and various personas.
I dont want to renstall them all one at a time, rather I would like to ireinstall a back up like I do with my bookmarks,
Is this possible??

Contacts are not a part of back up.
Contacts are sync with a compatible programme on your computer depending on your operating system (Windows or Mac). For example, Microsoft Outlook (for both Windows and Mac), Windows Contacts (for Windows) and Addressbook (for Mac).
Or contacts are also backed up in iCloud (depending if you chose to do so).
So, sync back the contacts from any of these programmes. If you have not made a backup of your contacts in any of these progammes, then they are gone.

My 6 year old Imac is slowing down and I want to reinstall the OS. It came with Leopard, upgraded to Snow Leopard, then to Lion. I have the Snow Leopard upgrade disk but Lion was upgraded through the APP store and I do not see Lion listed as available now in the store. Can I get the reinstall back to my current state of Lion v 10.7.5? Thank you.

I need to back up all my apps from my ipad2 and thanks / because of a glitch in the operating system I had a an dollar account in Tanzania (weird I know) and apple cannot give me access to my apps to download again (should they be deleted or I upgrade) as I live in the k and now have a UK apple App Store account in sterling for purchases.

How do I back up all of my bookmarks to a file in case so I don't have to start over when I buy a new computer?

I just want to backup my bookmarks. I can no longer find anyplace in the toolbar to do this. There used to be a feature where you could "organize your bookmarks" but your new versions apparently no longer have this feature. So how can I export my bookmarks now?

How can I stop firefox from checking add-ons and displaying the What's new page each time I launch it

Since upgrading to the latest version, I have viewed read and interacted with everything on the What's new page. I have done this a number of times but the page is still opened each time I launch Firefox. In addition it shows my homepage in a second tab.
Prior to opening Firefox it checks for add-ons.

go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there delete the file named '''user.js''' and restart the browser afterwards.

How can I back up all of my macbook pro data to my USB if time machine is not functioning properly?

I attempted to back up my data from my macbook pro to my USB entirely through time machine. The first half hour was successful until It told me the backup was not able to happen and it completely stopped working from that point on. Is there any suggestions or other things I can do? I do not mind reformatting the USB or erasing everything from it, but I am not sure how to do that on the mac either.

make sure time machine is turned off in system preferences. (it won't let you erase the disk if time machine is still trying to access it)
open the disk utility from in your user account utilities, make sure you are in the erase tab and also make sure you have the whole HD selected (not the section for backups that may be indented under it) also make sure the disk is mounted (there is option at the top of the disk utility toolbar to mount the disk if necessary.
once you have done both of these, make sure that next to format it says mac OS extended journaled and then click the button that just says erase.
after it's done you should then be able to go into system prefs and turn the time machine back on and select the disk to start the backups again.
if it still won't let you erase or do anything w/ the external drive after these steps there may be issue w/ the HD itself that needs addressed

From memory, it used to be possible to create a srtup file of sorts to re-create/re-establish not only bookmarks but also all the add-ons from one Firefox to another - on a different machine. In short, I would like to have them to be identical.

You need to mount that other partition to be able to access files on it and then browse to the hidden profile folder on that partition.
/home/user/.mozilla/firefox
You can only restore a JSON backup, unless you export the bookmarks in that other OS to an HTML file.

How can i back up all my email accounts on my iMac

I have an issue with my iMac at present, and I need to make a fresh start I have backed everything up with an external hard drive in time machine
But is there a way I can just grab my mail in the same way you could before Yosemite . There was a way you could copy the mail folder and the apple .com plist
onto an external drive . I've looked ito this and I don't see the apple.complist anymore . is there still away to do this and if so can you share this with me .

Thanks for the reply . So I watched this link on youtube . Which showed as you say by going to the Library,
while holding the "alt" key down) the Go menu and select "Library" from the menu. Select the Mail folder and copy it to an external drive .
But the this guy went to the preference section in Library too and pulled across the apple.com plist. is this still the case

I cannot reinstall my operating system..

Hello.
I bought my macbook about a year ago. shortly after the new year it started acting up. when we would start it up, it would take forever to load. and it wouldnt load all the way. on my top bar the only icon that showed on the right corner was the search icon.
i tried to reinstall the operating system. it was successful. i archived all my info and went to retrieve my photos. i then realized i needed to install the applications disk as well, so i did. everything was still find up until that point. it still would not let me access my pictures. told me i needed to upgrade to a newer version of iphoto. so i checked for system updates. it pulled up 12. i said to install them all. after it restarted, it stopped after about the 3rd or 4th app install and told me to restart because it couldnt finish. so i did. then a screen with a bunch of symbols popped up when i restarted that told me to restart again. so i did.
it kept taking me back to that screen on start up, so i put my operating system install disc back in. it told me i had to erase everything to continue, so i did. then it would not install. i shut it down, and tried again. this time instal was successful, but when i restarted it took me back to the instal screen. it wont let me eject the disc, and it keeps taking me back to that screen. so.. i tried to erase and instal again. now it wont even get halfway through the instal before it quits and tells me there is a problem..
so..... what is the problem? i didnt want to take it to a pro but i feel i have no choice now.. just hopeing someone here could help me?

the installer log popped up. i tried to save and it tells me i dont have permission.
the first few lines say: LCA[65] folder manager is being asked to create a folder (cach) while running as uid 0

when i went to the disk utility it told me that i couldnt do anything to my hard drive because it couldnt be unmounted ? i tried to "fix it" and then i tried to erase what was installed and it gave the same message both times...
