I want to reinstall the operating system on my 6 yr old IMAC to Lion

My 6 year old  Imac is slowing down and I want to reinstall the OS. It came with Leopard, upgraded to Snow Leopard, then to Lion. I have the Snow Leopard upgrade disk but Lion was upgraded through the APP store and I do not see Lion listed as available now in the store. Can I get the reinstall back to my current state of Lion v 10.7.5? Thank you.

If you purchased Lion, then it should show up in the App Store under Purchases. Mine do. If not,

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard on both of my computers.
Some time ago, one crashed my computer and I had to reinstall the operating system and all applications.
After I had installed once Acrobat 9 Sdt in the computer, I wanted to update the software version 9.0.0 update to the same level as it was before the crash and that the other computer has version named 9.5.5.
The system for update from version 9.0.0 does not work at all. "There are no updates" listed in the dialog.
Can you advise how I get my Adobo Acrobat 9 Standard (Version 9.0.0) could be updated to the same level as the computer had before the crash.

  • Want to update the operating systems to Mountain Lion version 10.8.2

Want to update the operating systems to Mountain Lion version 10.8.2 on my Macbook6,1 from Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. Will this affect the performance of my computer in a negative way, and if the benefits outweigh it? Thanks.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Mountain Lion. There's a Mountain Lion Support Community where everybody has Mountain Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mountain_lion

  • Why does my computer look the same? I reinstalled the operating system.

My mid-2012 Macbook Air has been running a bit slow, and I've had problems with other things, too. So I decided to reinstall the operating system and start from scratch.
But after restarting my computer in rescue mode, everything is the same. I backed up my documents and photos and fully expected my computer to look like it did when it was brand new. So this is very confusing for me.
I clicked the button for reinstall. Why wasn't everything wiped clean?
Also, the fan is running loud since the install. It's been maybe seven minutes. Why would that be happening?
    Thanks.

Thank you for the help. Much appreciated.
The only confusing part was not quite knowing which option to select for the erase. Three different options appear in the left sidebar. One said something like Mac Hardware, so after some hesitation I chose that one. I wish there was a blurb that helped people understand what these are, in case they end up chosing the wrong one and permanently damaging their computer.
But it looks like I chose the right one, thank goodness. My computer is noticeably faster now because of the erase and reinstall.
    Cheers.

  • I want to reload the operating system

    Hi,
My Macbook Pro has been running slow and the advice received at the Southampton Apple Store is to wipe the drive and reload the operating system.    I have just completed a full back up to my Airport Extreme/Timeport.  Thing is, I cannot remember what I am supposed to do next.  Please could anyone help me.
I am running Lion and want to upgrade to Mountain Lion,  but was advised to do the wipe first.
    Many thanks
    Steve

Not really the best choice, use a external storage drive and the emergency quick copy method for your user files. (not TimeMachine)
Make sure you take note of all your programs, password and export your browser bookmarks.
You may want to clone your present boot drive in it's entirety to another external drive first, just in case you need to boot from it to grab somethign you missed or compare.
    Most commonly used backup methods
Then follow this proceedure for Security Zero Erase and install of 10.7 on the Macintosh HD partition and reinstall OS X, programs and return files in that order.

Once you machine is all cleaned up and set up the way you want, then make a new bootable clone for problems like this and also if your boot drive dies, you can boot rom the clone to get online etc.

  • How do I reinstall the operating system on my MacBook Pro without using my apple id?

I'm selling my computer. Everything has been erased. Now the operating system, Lion, needs to be installed. I believe the computer did not come with a cd so reinstalling is done through wifi.

We bought it in January 2010. I'm not sure what OS it came with but when I look at the dates of each OS on wikipedia it looks like it came with Snow Leopard. The only disk I happen to have is Leopard.
Let's drop back a minute and go through what you can and cannot do with this machine.
    1.  If the machine came with Leopard, you can install Leopard and then go to Snow Leopard and up the line of the on-line Mac OS X versions, that is, Lion, and Mountain Lion and Mavericks as compatible.  If the disk for Leopard that you have is a grey face disk, that is a machine-specific disk and will only work if it is the disk that came with your MacBook Pro.  If it is a panted face (black) with a large silver X it is a retail version and will install IF your machine came with Leopard.
    2.  If your MacBook Pro came with Snow Leopard, it will not install Leopard.  If it came with Snow Leopard and is a 2010 machine, it will not install the retail version of Snow Leopard since that is 10.6.3 and the 2010 and later machines came with 10.6.6 preinstalled.  You must call Apple Customer Support and have them send you the machine-specific install disk for that machine.  There is a fee of something like $20 in the US for doing that.
    3.  If your machine came with Snow Leopard, you need to reinstall Snow Leopard and then move to the on-line Mac OS X versions, you cannot download a version with your Apple ID associated with the version currently on the machine.  The starting point HAS to be Snow Leopard for the new owner to do an on-line Mac OS X download.
    4.  With Snow Leopard installed and on-line software updated to 10.6.8, the new owner can then move up to Lion or above depending on the compatibility of the hardware.  To move to Lion or above the machine must have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.  To move to Mountain Lion or Mavericks the machine must meet the requirements in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842.
At any rate, the new owner must install Snow Leopard on that machine before any move to one of the Mac App Store versions of Mac OS X.

  • Is there anyway to reinstall the operating system?

You can try using WEBOS doctor to reload the Operating System.
Click here for the link to the webpage; http://ws.hpwebos.com/webosdoctor/sorry.htm
Select the TP and follow the intructions on that page. Make sure you understand how to put the TP in recovery mode or you will not get the "next" button.

  • How can I reset my web server settings to factory default without reinstalling the operating system?

I have a MacBook Air that has been upgraded over time from OS to OS. I'm currently running Yosemite.
I don't have any issues with the computer, it is running fine. Over the years, however, I've tinkered around with the server in different ways (the apache and php that shipped with OS X, MAMP, and with NGINX) and when I went to get back into some development it seems as though there's some conflicts.
What I'd love to do (assuming it is possible) is reset all of the web server's factory settings so I can just move forward from that point (Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc.).
I saw there was a terminal command for OS X Server that allows you to reset all of the server settings to how it came from the factory.
Is there a similar command that works for non-OS X Server or a utility that can restore the web server settings?

there probably is a way, but the success rate would be fairly low. you say you don't want to reinstall the OS, why? you know that reinstalling it keeps all your files and settings as they are, while resetting system files? (OS X Mavericks: Reinstall OS X)

The MBP cannot find the OSX, and either the HDD or connector has failed.  If you can get the installation DVD to work, start the installation process and when the menu bar appears on the display, select 'Utilities'.  From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility>First Aid and run 'Verify' and 'Repair'.  If unsuccessful, a new HDD is in your future.
If you cannot get the DVD to function, then a trip to an Apple store is your best option.
    Ciao.
