I want to remove a dead server

When I initially set up my mac mini I had a computer on my network i used only for data storage. I have removed this computer from the network, but the mac still continues to try to access it. I cannot figure out how to have it stop searching for and trying to connect to it. Any advice?

I'd look at virtualizing these roles onto a two host setup. I'd ask them more over here about the hardware / configuration details.

  • I want to remove my dead podcast from iTunes directory

I used Podpress, a plug in for my Wordpress blog page and not really knowing what I was doing, posted 2 podcasts to the iTunes podcast directory. They are both dead now, but they are still there, with nothing to download. How do I go about removing them?

Find their entry in iTunes, and the main "album" display should shows for reporting a problem with the podcast. One of the options is - I'm the owner & want to delete this podcast.

  • Removing the "target server" from process chain jobs

    Dear SAP Community,
Please note we are on BW version 3.5
We have a very large number of process chains that are used to load data in the production environment. Many of those process chains have a "target server" specified, so that the jobs will run only on the central instance.
A new application server has just been added to the environment, and we want to remove the "target server" definition so that the dispatcher will be free to load balance the process chain jobs.
We can see the attributes for each process chain are stored in a table called RSPCCHAINATTR.
Please let me know: can we update the value of field SERVER in table RSPCCHAINATTR, to set it to blank using SQL-PLUS ?
And then can we run a /$sync to bring these changes up into the application layer ?
This would save tons of time & manual effort, and it would set the target server to blank for all of the process chains at once, instead of clicking manually so many times to clear the value for each process chain.
Please let me know if we can take this approach ? Is there any chance of the process chains becoming inactive by doing this ?
We want to set the "target server" = blank in all cases, instead of manually clicking into each and every process chain.
    Please let me know, thanks.

Check tcode RSBATCH, If I'm not wrong all process types are assigned to central server. Remove that server name and save.
Now, If u execute process chain, system will prompt you assign server/host name. To skip this follow the below.
Again use RSBATCH, under 'Background and Parallel Processes' tab, click 'Switch Off F4 Popup for Server/Host/Group', enter * (star) under Users for 'Users for Whom NO Server/Host/Group Popup Should be Processed'.
Now, If u execute process chain, it should run on either of servers.
Since u added Appln Server, best bet would be creating a server group. See the below link.

  • I want to remove the COnlineBank, OnlineBank and csample applications from my application and web server.

How can I safely do this on Solaris? I've tried "iasdeploy removeapp" and "iasdeploy removemodule" with no luck. I want to clear all of this demo stuff out to make both the web and app server look more production like.
    Thanks
    Eric

    Eric,
these applications are applogics which are not controlled by the
iasdeploy tool. Unfortunately, there is no tool available to remove
these applications for you. What you can do is to manually remove all
their entries, but be careful if you do that. If you remove the wrong
keys you might break your ias installation, so be warned and make sure
you backup the whole ias registry before attempting to remove anything.

Take a look at Metalogix ControlPoint, which will compare user accounts on SharePoint to Active Directory and remove accounts that no longer exist in AD (or are disabled).

  • DEAD IN THE WATER--Can't remove email from server-can't receive new emails

I stopped receiving emails this morning upon startup, steps taken:
    restarted mail
    rebooted
    backed up all inboxes
searched how to see message on server, found them and and can see one that says:
From: unknown sender Subject: No subject Date Recd: Today Time is always the current time.
I read a very old post from David Gimeno Gost who said:
"You may tell Mail to remove from the server all the messages that have already been downloaded by means of Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove now. Alternatively, you may use the Account Info window to remove specific messages from the server. And if the account allows web access, you may also remove messages from the server that way.
Try removing from the server messages that have already been downloaded and/or the first message not downloaded yet (i.e. the message that Mail appears to be choking on)."
I can't remove it from the server either by itself or grouped with other messages. Interestingly enough, I can receive emails on my iPhone and I changed my email address in my Apple info and received the verification email, but still nothing else that's sitting on the server.
Went into my email account through Webmail to delete it and can see all emails except that one
opened Mail on my mac mini, I couldn't receive email there for my email inbox, however I was able to receive email in my employees inbox on the same server but different email address.
Is this a Charter issue or a Mail issue. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Renee

I finally figured it out. The server had to be refreshed by calling my hosting service. 9 hours of diagnosis and a 2 minute fix.
Hope that will help someone else:)

  • Removing Exchange 2007 from SBS 2008 (In an Exchange 2010 Coexistance Scenario) - In order to remove 2007 Mailbox Objects from Active Directory and remove the SBS2008 server completely

I'm trying to remove Exchange 2007 from an SBS 2008 server
(Server 2008 Standard FE).  My ultimate goal is to completely remove the SBS 2008 Server from the network environment.
We have an Exchange 2010 Coexistence Scenario and Mailboxes/Public Folders/etc have been moved over to the 2010 mail server, on Server 2008 R2.
I have moved all Shares, FSMO roles, DHCP, DNS, etc over to their respective servers.  We have two full blown DC's in the environment.
I'm ready to remove Exchange 2007 from SBS 2008 and DCPROMO the server.  I can NOT seem to find a TechNet article that shows me how
to proceed in this kind of scenario.  I am trying to use the TechNet article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd728003(v=ws.10).aspx
This article references Disabling Mailboxes, Removing OAB, Removing Public Folder Databases, then uninstalling Exchange using the Setup Wizard.
When I go to Disable Mailboxes I get the following error:
    Microsoft Exchange Error
Action 'Disable' could not be performed on object 'Username (edited)'.
    Username (edited)
    Failed
    Error:
Object cannot be saved because its ExchangeVersion property is 0.10 (14.0.100.0), which is not supported by the current version 0.1 (8.0.535.0). You will need a later version of Exchange.
    OK
I really don't see why I need to Disable Mailboxes, Remove OAB and Public Folder Databases since they have been moved to 2010.  I just want
to remove Exchange 2007 and DCPROMO this server (actually I just want to remove any lingering Exchange AD Objects referring to the SBS 2008 Server, using the easiest and cleanest method possible).
Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on your description, it seems that you are in a migration process (migrate SBS 2008 to Windows Server
2008 R2). Now, you want to remove Exchange Server and demote server. If anything I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
On current situation, please refer to following articles and check if can help you.
    Transition
from Small Business Server to Standard Windows Server
    Removing SBS 2008 –
    Step 1: Exchange 2007
    Removing SBS 2008 – Step 2:
    ADCS
    Removing
SBS 2008 – Step 3: remove from domain / DCPROMO

  • Can't Remove Old Exchange Server

While going through ADSI edit, I noticed there is an entry for an old Mail Server object in the Domain Controllers OU. It only appears in ADSIEdit and not under AD Users and Computers and it didn't show under ntdsutil either.
I have full permissions under the domain admin account, but when I try to delete it and I get the error:
    Operation Failed. Eror code: 0x5
    Access is denied.
    00000005: SecErr: DSID-031A121F, problem 4003
    (INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS), data 0
I've heard that this can be caused by a former Trust Account that is no longer present. Under that objects properties, under the UserAccountControl attribute is 0x820 = (PASSWD_NOTREQD | INTERDOMAIN_TRUST_ACCOUNT)
    and also under sAMAccountType 805306370 = (TRUST_ACCOUNT)
I'm not sure what the best process would be to remove this object.
I appreciate any thoughts and future assistance!

    Hello,
If you are really sure that you want to remove this date, unchecked the
"Protect object from accidental deletion" and try again.
    Regards.

  • Remove only SQL Server 2012 Standard and keep Express 2012

Hi everybody, We have installed both SQL 2012 Express and SQL 2012 Standard (licensed). All our instances which we need are running fine on the Express version.
I’m having problems uninstalling the licensed SQL 2012 Standard one. When starting the uninstall process I cannot see which server I’m removing.
My question is: how I can only for sure! remove the SQL 2012 Standard version and keep the Express 2012 working?
    Greetings. TIA
    win_builder

    Hi,
To remove instance of SQL Server you have to go to Add remove program and search for
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (64 bit)
Then right click on it and select Uninstall/Change and screen will appear where you have to select REMOVE
then click on remove and below screen will appear
From above see the drop down , select SQL Server standard instance you want to remove. In your case it would be standard edition
On next page select features you want to remove
bThen Next... Next and you would remove SQL Server standard
    Edit:
You can also uninstall from command line as below
    Setup.exe /Action=Uninstall /FEATURES=SQL,AS,RS,IS,Tools /INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER
Here /features is features you want to uninstall
/instancename is instance name of your standard edition

If there are more than one device active on the account, choose the number you wish to make changes to and click on Next.
Under the Smartphone Data Packages, choose the Unlimited Data option for $29.99 and click Next.

  • Remove a Report Server String

    Hi,
I want to remove a redundant Report Server Address from my login screen in Word, but I can't see where the list of addresses is kept nor how to delete it from that screen. Does anyone know where the list is kept and/ or how to remove report server addresses?
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi Mohamed,
Generate a new report, it will overwrite the old one. There is no option to delete it from cucm admin page. If you are concerned about the time it took to generate the report the first time then restart the Database Layer Monitor and Tomcat services before running a fresh report. Tomcat needs to be restarted from CLI of the Pub ( utils service restart Cisco Tomcat ), it is case sensitive.

If you are upgrading your domain controllers to 2012, why are you taking this method? If you want to keep this DC operational do not remove the DNS server separately or you will experience difficulties during installing DNS again. Transfer FSMO roles to
an available DC and demote 2008 servers and re-promote after installing 2012.
    Regards.

  • HT201365 i want to remove my icloud account

i want to remove my icloud account

If you want to remove it from your phone just go to Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account'. If you have set up 'Find My Phone' you will need to sign out using the password. You can't actually remove the account from the server, but you could if you want go to http://www.icloud.com and manually delete any contents there.
If you have any synced content it will of course disappear from your phone when you sign out.

  • Removing our AD server / disabling security on ix4-200d

My organization is in the process of decommisioning our Windows Server 2003 and moving to complete reliance upon our iomega ix4-200d for our file serving solution.
My understanding is that disalbing AD on the iomega device will remove the existing users and shares that have been synchronized from our Active Directory.
I'm looking for suggestions about how to recreate the existing AD user accounts once the ix4 is in workgroup mode while causing a minimum amount of disruption to the office -- especially since I obviously don't know the passwords of the existing AD user accounts?

    swgarland wrote:
Without getting into a discussion of why you would want to remove AD from a network, on the NAS box, you'll need to create local accounts (you won't have a domain anymore).  Then create groups etc, just like you had before and apply the correct rights.  You'll have duplicate accounts for a time period (domain and local).
PV: Basically, we've retired our Windows Server 2003 in favor of the NAS box and when I finally pull the plug on the Windows box our AD will go away.
I would create all the accounts FIRST including a new NAS admin account.  Then login to the NAS with the local admin to verify it works BEFORE you disable AD integration.  Once you disable the AD integration, all the domain accounts and groups disappear, and therefore won't work.
PV:  That's kind of what I gathered, I was just hoping someone else had gone through this before and had suggestions for duplicating the accounts. I guess I will set the accounts up ahead of time and try to figure out a way to make people change the default password I give them.
Looking at the "Users and Groups" admin applet, however it's not clear to me how to create local users and groups when AD is active. I don't see any interface to add users or groups, only links to "import users and groups from Active Directory" and to "synchronize with Active Directory"?
