I want to remove an incorrectly spelled word from my spell check dictionary (--a word that I added to the dictionary).

While writing an e-mail, I added the name of a place to my spell check dictionary. Moments later, I realized that I had misspelled that place name. Now I want to remove the incorrectly spelled name. Is there a simple solution?

Yes, editing that file works. Because the line breaks are not traditional DOS line breaks, you should not use Notepad as your editor. Instead, try this:
(1) With Firefox closed, open the Start menu to All Programs > Accessories
(2) Right-click Wordpad and choose Run as Administrator, give yourself permission when prompted by Windows
(3) Navigate Wordpad's Open dialog to C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\dictionaries and change the file type to all files (or type *.* in the box and press Enter) so you can open en-US.dict
(4) Search in the page (Ctrl+f) for dong/ (it's not the first one) then add XYZ between dong and /

(5) Save and then restart Firefox. If spellcheck seems to work correctly, you can close Wordpad. If not, you might want to undo your changes in Wordpad (you might or might not be able to save that with Firefox open).

2. Scroll down, there you will see Apple ID: "your email" (below Redeem and Send Gift)
3. Tap on that button
4. Tap on Sign Out
Now you should be able to use another Apple ID.

You definitely can.
To remove your payment information open iTunes and go into your account. An easy way to access your account is from quick links on the store home page. After you login there will be a payment type listed with an edit button next to it. Click edit then select none under card type (next to visa, mastercard, etc).
Afterwards at the bottom of the page select done, then your card will no longer be on file. It will prompt you for a card next time you try to download something that isn't free.

Hi Pez,
iTunes in the Cloud is not iCloud. Any songs that you have purchased but have not downloaded (or have deleted), go to iTunes in the cloud. The setting I mentioned will show all of your purchases in the various views in the Music app, whether they are on your device or not. If you turn that setting off, you will only see items that are actually on your device.

Go to the "File" menu, then "Print." The window that appears will have three drop-down menus at the top.
The first is labeled "Printer",
The second is "Presets".
The third is unlabeled but has "Copies & Pages" selected by default.

aha yes - Lion has changed you harddrive setup and added a "recover partition" Now it gets - not technical - but time consuming.
try:
insert your Snow Leopard installer DVD.
Reboot
Immediately After startup sound, hold down ALT.
You'll be presented with several options. Select your install DVD and continue.
If it doesn't fail:
Once the installer has started, go t the top menu and select "disc utility"
go to the "partition" screen and erase all partitions back to one single partition
return to the installer and install that older OS X version
give to buyer minus the price of a Lion upgrade
If it fails, go to step 1 and boot from your "recovery drive".
once the installer has sarted, go to the top menu and select "disk utility"
erase the drive partition that used to contain OSX Lion - this will remove your private data, all apps and OSX Lion.
Restart, hold own "eject" and remove the DVD, and shut down again.
You'll have to hand it over to the new buyer in this state. Tell him the machine will boot into the Lion installer but he'll have to create an App Store account to download and install OS X Lion. One again, give him a reduced price equal to the price of the Lion upgrade. Way I see it, no other options remain.

Had you never backed up the phone before? When you saw the iTunes logo and cable, the device was in recovery mode. The data was already lost. The only way to recover from that is to restore the device, which will delete all of your data. You will only be able to restore to your last backup, whenever that was. Sorry this happened, but this highlights the importance of doing regular backups. The backup is the only protection you have against a problem like this.

My ID has recently started flagging every word when doing spell check. I uninstalled and reinstalled but it's still doing it. I have tried turning on and off preferences and selecting different vendor dictionaries but no luck. I have no clue how to create a new dictionary or to select a different one. If I try to "relink" the current one everything is grayed out. Please help! I'm spending so much time trying to research this and getting nowhere! Thanks!

This is a common point of confusion for many users (including me for a few years). The Dictionary settings in your presfs have nothing to do with spell checking directly. What they are is a means for you to choose which dictionary to use for each language, if more than one dictionary happens to be installed for that language. that dictionary is then used to decide if words are spelled correctly and to set hyphenation rules, but the language is actually set at the character level, as Manish mentioned above.
ID looks at the language assigned to the text, then uses the dictionary assigned by your prefs to do the checking. If the assigned language doesn't match the actual language, most words will inevitably be considered misspelled. If you, for example have an English localized version of ID, but mostly type in French, you probably would want to set French as the default language. To do that you would set it from the language dropdown in either the Character or Control panel with no files open, and it will be effective for all new work.
Existing files are more of a problem. You can reset the default for each document in the same way, but exiting text will retain whatever language is currently assigned, whether is it is correct or not. You can use Find/Change to reassign any language you like to the entire document on a language-by-language basis by choosing the language that is mis-assigned in the Advanced Character Formatting section for the Find Format settings and then choosing the correct language in the Change Formatting section. For that you don't need to enter anything at all in either the find or change fileds in the dialog. Te assign a single language to all the text in a file, regardless of how many languages may be in use, enter .+ in the GREP find field, then set the language of your choice in the change Formatting as above. As long as something is entered into the Change Formatting section, you can leave the change field itself blank. Although the text won't change when you reassign a language, if may reflow. This is due to different hyphenation rules among the various languages.
Though we often suggest replacing preferences here when things misbehave, this is one situation where it may actually make things worse. If you set a custom language different from your localization, resetting the prefs would remove that special language and you'll have to re-enter it manually.

I seem to have a problem of spell check for micrsoft word / excel not working. It all stemed with me deleting microsoft office from my computer, after thinking it was playing havoc on my system, (making it slower and sending a strange attachment with some emails) but after one week I relaised i needed it, i tried loading it again, but now the spell check doesnt seem to work?
also if any one can tell me, regarding my strange attachment. i was told today that "ATT00034" is sent because it contains font information that is not supported to the people i send it to? im not sure?

You can't delete an account, all you can do is remove personal info from it and stop using it - any content that you downloaded with the account will remain tied to the account. If you want to use its email address on another account then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. by tapping on it and logging into it via Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPad, the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or via http://appleid.apple.com

First report your lost credit card to your credit card issuer. In the ITunes Store, go to Account Information Edit Payment History and click None where it asks for your Payment Type. That should definitely hide information. I think it will delete it but at least know one will be able to see it. Don't panic...they still need your Apple Password and ID to get into the store to enable purchases. Phone Apple to report your lost card for extra protection.
